1653 Pilot Hill Road is ideally located on a hillside, thereby giving it superb views of the ocean and distant houses, Inns, and hotels for over 180 degrees from the Southeast to the Northwest. Having been built in 1996, it uniquely combines the desired New England saltbox architecture while meeting today's building codes, a wonderful combination. The downstairs ceilings are 10 ft high, and the ocean can be seen from each window on two sides of the house. The dining room table seats ten adults, and the 2nd dining room can seat another 6-8 children and/or adults.
The outdoor shower has both hot & cold water, enabling beachgoers to rinse away the sand before entering the nearby kitchen. The very well stocked kitchen will delight even the most serious of cooks; given its well lighted counter space and its complete set of Cuisinart Classic Stainless cookware. This home has two living rooms, two dining rooms, and two refrigerators/freezers.
The spacious deck facing the 180 degree ocean view to the East is 18 ft X 24 ft, while the adjoining 6 ft deck extends around 3 1/2 sides of the very large home.
This magnificent home is so comfortable and inviting, one may well be tempted to simply sit on the deck enjoying the inspiration to write derived for the awe inspiring view, instead of touring our lovely, tranquil island. Please, do leave the house to enjoy other parts of the island also.

- Hot & cold outdoor shower for washing away the sand you brought home from the beach. The view from the deck is both spectacular and superb. The distant ocean can be seen from the deck for 180 degrees, and from very window on two sides of the house. Whether grilling or simply relaxing with a refreshing beverage on the deck the view is astounding. Several acres provide a flat surface for athletic activities, while the numerous rock walls add a uniquely New England charm. You'll enjoy the house and it's great view so much that you will want to book next years visit before you leave.

Why the Owner Chose Block Island
The owners family has owned and operated a business on Block Island since 1980. 2009 will be our 30th season in business here. It was not until 1998 that I finally saw a house that captured me on first sight. I bought it the same day I saw it. You'll want to buy it also, but it is not for sale.
The Unique Benefits of this House
I never tire of looking out the windows enjoying the superb view; I enjoy watching the pheasant and deer feed nearby, and sometimes I will get up early enough to greet the rising sun from my East facing deck. I love this house, and you will as well.
