Why the Owner Chose Naalehu

The house is located on the 5th fairway of Discovery Harbor Golf Coarse close to the quaint old sugar cane town of Naalehu in the sparcely populated Ka'u district. Visiting Naalehu is like walking back 50 years in time, into old Hawaii. This location is rural and is not overun by people or tourists and is conveniently close to numerous outdoor activities. Close to the house along the ocean are secluded and remote bays and beaches that you can four wheel or hike into. There are many lava tubes close by for you to explore as well as anchient Hawaiian ruins and large petroglyph fields.Surfing is just 10 minutes away at Kawaa beach. Black Sands beach with its Green turtles and snorkeling is only 20 minutes away.Green sands beach is only 20 minutes away. Just minutes away there are cinder cones surrouded by cinder fields that make you feel like you are on a lunar landscape.Picturesque ocean views and fishing at South Point is minutes away. Four wheeling in the mountainous rain forests is just minutes away on the upper road above Naalehu. From the Japanese Garden you have spectacular views of Mount Mauna Loa,Naalehu, the foot hills above Naalehu and the plum of the lava flowing into the ocean way up the coast line. This house is located just 50 miles in either direction on highway 11 from Kailua-Kona and Hilo. With fairway 5 of Discovery Harbor Golf Coarse next to the house, golfing can start just steps away. For the avid golfer you are only 20 minuets away from Punaluu Golf Coarse, boasting spectacular views of the nearby ocean and black sands beach or you can drive 40 minutes to the Volcano Golf Coarse right next to Kilawa volcano in Volcano National Park.

The Unique Benefits at this House

We enjoy eating the variety of fresh fruits gowing in the Japanese Garden-papya,pineapple,banana,oranges,limes,grapefruit and dragon fruit.Just sitting in the Japanese Pagoda in the mornings having breakfast and listening to and watching the birds is very relaxing and enjoyable. The birds will come to one of the two ponds on the property to drink. The house is located on a cul du sac with only one other house on the north side about 40 yards away. The golf coarse is also on the north and east side. Thick vegetation and Christmas berry trees are on all other sides of the house, making it is very private. The Pagoda is located on the property such that you can see the golf coarse, Mauna Loa and the ocean and not the other house. Since the golf coarse is closed to the public we might see only 1-2 groups of golfers per day. As a result of this unique situation the property is very quit and private. Occasionally we will see wild bore or mongoose. The smells of the hibiscus, plumeria, and white and red ginger is intoxicating. At night we turn on the numerous (40) low voltage lights that outline the numerous walkways and variety of statues in the Japanese garden. The South Point area is sparcely populated, therefore, there are few lights to block or subdu the stars at night allowing awesome star gazing.
