Steps Away at Oceanwoods (465 Oceanwoods) is the perfect place for a family or friends to spend their beach vacation. The cottage offers stylish accommodations and peaceful wooded views.
Located just 35 minutes from historic downtown Charleston, on Kiawah's East Beach, "Steps Away at Oceanwoods", is just a short walk to Night Heron Park, The Sanctuary Hotel, shopping and restaurants. And most importantly, this beautiful cottage is a 2-minute walk to Kiawah's ten miles of pristine beach.
Completely redone in 2009, " Steps Away at Oceanwoods " offers a warm, luxurious feel. Step out onto the deck where you can enjoy grilling up supper and dining al fresco.
The kitchen is fabulous - complete with rich mahogany countertops, stainless steel appliances and a gas cook top range - everything is top-of-the line. Plenty of dishes, pots, pans, utensils - everything you need. The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen.
The living room features built-ins with lots of storage space along with a media center that includes a large flat-panel TV/DVD, There is also a large flat panel TV/DVD in the den and wireless internet throughout the cottage.
The master bedroom suite offers a queen-size deluxe bed complete with a pillow-top mattress, Egyptian cotton sheets, down-alternative pillows and a down-alternative duvet. A flat-panel TV/DVD combo and master bathroom with walk-in shower complete the suite.
The second bedroom has a queen-size bed with flat-panel TV/DVD combo and shares a bathroom with the third bedroom that comes with two twin beds and its own flat-panel TV/DVD combo. Both bedrooms have pillow-top mattress, Egyptian cotton sheets, down-alternative pillows and down-alternative duvets. The bathroom offers a shower/tub combination.
This cottage also has a washer and dryer. The property accommodates up to 6 adults. No smoking or pets are permitted.

About Property Managers, Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways):
Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently.
In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he spent the additional money required for the personalized South Carolina license plate "KIAWAH" (which we still own today).
In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station.
In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape (3563) and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah Property Owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well.
Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will!!

Kiawah Island and Steps Away was everything and more that we could have ever imagined. The Island is so peaceful and private, and the Cottage was even better than the pictures present it. We planned this trip as a Girls Getaway, and it was the Perfect Trip. The Cottage was decorated beautifully and the owners put alot of attention into the details. We definitely are planning a trip back to Kiawah Island and Steps Away very soon.

I have a friend since Jr High School and we have remained close for forty some years. We decided for our 60th birthdays that we should treat ourselves to a special trip. My daughter had a friend who vacations at Kiawah Island every year. So we decided to plan our girls trip to Kiawah. We found the web site for this cottage and it looked very nice and my friend, my daughter and myself agreed to book it. When we walked into the cottage it was just as the pictures presented it. Absolutely beautiful, and it was so clean and inviting. The decor and amenities for a rental were upscale and lovely. Every detail was covered for our stay. We appreciate all the thought that was placed on making sure that we had a awesome vacation. The checkin process was flawless and so easy with no hassles or lines. No going to a rental office to check in first. I will definetly rent from these owners again. They are top notch.

Clean and close to the beach! This cottage did not disappoint. It is a quick walk to the beach and the owners clearly care about their property. Kiawah is a special place and our cottage added to the enjoyment of our vacation.

We were very pleased with this lovely cottage. It is beautifully decorated and very clean and only a thirty second walk to the sand. Kiawah is an amazing place and this location felt cozy and secluded, adding to the mystique of the island. Wouldn't hesitate recommending this cottage. Thank you Kiawah Island Getaways!

We just returned from 3 days at this wonderful property. It is even lovelier than the pictures and immaculately maintained.The living areas are spacious and comfortable,a great place to gather.The kitchen is a delight with stainless appliances and Vietri dishes. The beds are extremely comfortable with top quality linens. There were personal touches too numerous to mention but all greatly appreciated. This location is also fantastic,close to everything Kiawah has to offer. We can't wait to return!

Steps Away was truly as described. Only steps away from the beach and short bike rides or walk to night heron. Perfect location! We had my 4 year old and almost 2 year old granddaughters and they made the walk fine and even enjoyed it. The cottage has a great layout for our daughter and her family a nd grandma & grandpa. The furnishings are upscale and the owners seam to have thought of just about everything (except a griddle for pancakes). We had a wonderful week and are already planning our trip back to Kiawah and Steps Away. Thanks for a great vacation! Recommend taking the kyak trip via Night Heron Nature Center - The guide, Mike, was very knowledgable about everything and my 4 yr. old granddaughter had a blast and came home with lots of shells! Freshfields Center was nice to spend the afternooon shopping and grabbing a bite to eat. Everyone is so nice and helpful there too.

This property is beautifully appointed and very close to the beach. The house is tastefully decorated, clean, and modern lending to the feeling that you are guest at a friend's house rather than at a beach rental. We have rented this property for two year's in a row and enjoyed cooking in the gourmet kitchen each night and eating either in the spacious dining area or on the deck. The Lawson's have thought of everything, including small items such even shampoo, hairdryer, soap, baggies, foil, salt and pepper with all the major conveniences they have in the home as well. They make coming to Kiawah for a little time away easy and painless.

The villa is just lovely. The accommodations are second to none. The kitchen is fully stocked and every "little thing" you might have forgotten to pack is already waiting for you. We booked at the last minute and were fortunate to get such great property. Highly recommend this villa. The walk to the beach is literally two minutes and the check in/etc is seamless. Thanks for a great vacation!!!
