My wife and I have just completed our second stay at Casa Bonita. We love this place! The location near the University of Arizona provides us a short walk to the bookstore on campus as well as the outstanding museum, performance hall, and sports complex. Shopping for organic foods is but a short drive away at Trader Joe's, Sprouts, and Whole foods. In addition to our reading and dietary needs, we require good walking trails as part of our daily regime. Casa Bonita is a short drive away from the Rillito River walking/biking trail which can be accessed via Rio Vista Park. The accomodations in the rental give us all we rquire for a home away from home.....a fully equipped kitchen, huge TV, wifi, large closet and drawer space, comfortable queen bed, washer & dryer, off street parking, and a wonderful sun-lit private patio with a couch for siestas. Bonnie & Steve are very kind and generous hosts who make their guests feel like welcomed friends. It is a good place to be! We shall return for our time in the sun at Casa Bonita next winter.....

Owner response: We enjoy meeting new people and making new friends, and in that vein do all that we can to assure that our guests are comfortable and feel at home. When we receive a review such as this, we are reassured our efforts are worthwhile. With guests that return for repeated visits, we truly do feel like we're welcoming friends back to their home away from home. We look forward to Liz and Charlie's next visit.

We stayed at Casa Bonita while we settled our son in for grad school at UA. The photos of the casita were great, but it's so much more impressive in person. It is beautifully decorated and features all the amenties we needed. The back patio area is beautiful and peaceful and we would have loved the summer weather to have been a bit cooler so we could have used it more. We appreciated the sleeper sofa and the spacious floorplan when our son was unexpectedly delayed from moving into his apartment for several days. So much better than a hotel room! The kitchen is well furnished for cooking and even includes many staples so we were able to cook a few family meals. Bonnie even kindly offered me access to her herb garden! We also appreciated the convenience of a washer and dryer as there were new sheets, towels etc to be laundered for our son's apartment. It's an easy walk to the shop and restaurants near the University from the casita and we found the location convenient for day trips to Mt Lemmon, Sabino Canyon, Tombstone, San Xavier and Saguaro National Parks. Bonnie and Steve were the perfect hosts -- unobtrusive, yet available. We look forward to a future stay at Casa Bonita.

Owner response: We're always pleased when our guests are pleased. We especially enjoy the visits of families coming to enroll at UA. Our goal is to offer comfortable, relaxing and convenient accommodations for parents getting students settled into their new life. And it's such an added bonus when mom and dad have time to acquaint themselves with and enjoy the beautiful greater Tucson area where their son or daughter will be making their new home.

Coming to visit your kids at the U of A? Working on your dissertation? Wanting to experience life in the Southwest? You have found it with Casa Bonita. It offers a private, safe, comfy, central location with close proximity to the U of A, downtown Tucson, and points beyond. We spent November and December of 2010 in this charming adobe casa, and put it through the paces of holiday entertaining. The kitchen is one of the best outfitted from our experience with rental units. Bonnie and Steve were wonderful hosts and looked after our needs promptly and with good humour. We truly enjoyed their company during our stay. We highly recommend that you book early.

Just got back from a 4 day stay here visiting our son for parents weekend at U of A. This is a beautiful house with a wonderful private backyard. We loved listening to the birds in the morning having coffee. The kitchen is very well stocked and nice touches throughout such as organic shampoo etc. My son stayed with us which was nice for him to get a break from the dorm and for us to have a "homey" place to hang out with him. It's very beautiful and clean. Didn't get to meet Bonnie but Steve was very helpful. I would definitely stay again...Much nicer than the hotel I stayed in last time. Great job.

My teen son and I stayed at Bonnie and Steve's place for a week in July. He was in town for a sports competition. I wanted someplace where he could have peace and quiet to prepare for competition AND to have some space to be able to entertain. The house is so adorable, decorated beautifully, with every amenity that you might need. Our stay was made more special by the personal interest of Steve and Bonnie in the reason for our stay: including having printed directions to the places we would be going - based just on the information I had casually provided in my emails. The outdoor patio area is shaded (much needed in Tucson in July), private and so enjoyable: I had coffee and read a book in the morning and we entertained other athletes and their families in the afternoon/evening. We had a car and enjoyed being able to park it inside the gates of the compound. Really enjoyed the surrounding neighborhood, which was very quiet. I did my exercise walk each day going off in a different direction and felt perfectly safe. The kitchen has many staples in it, which was so nice - not having to buy something at the grocery store that you were only going to use a little of: it was all already there. Bonnie took time with me to tell me about the vegetation on the property, which I enjoyed learning about, as it's quite different from where we live. When you walk into the house for the fist time, you'll be so glad you chose it instead of a hotel - I know I was. It's about 5 minutes from the university by car and just a minute or two more to the grocery store. Also, it's a pretty short drive from the airport (and you'll go right by a nice grocery store on your way) so if you're arriving at night you don't have a long journey ahead of you. Bonnie and Steve have traveler information in the house, or you can just ask for restaurant recommendations, etc. We did both. Wonderful place: clean, charming, safe and quiet. Wonderful friendly hosts. Perfect!

When they say a picture is worth a thousand words, they had not seen or stayed at Bonnie and Steve's Casa Bonita. The pictures DO NOT do it justice. This was one of the cutest, coziest, warm and romantic little getaways in the midst of a typical neighborhood near the campus. When we entered, the furnishings and accessories made me feel immediately calm and thankful that I did not decide to book a hotel room. The owners thought of everything to make our stay special. I even stole an hour in the early morning to sit outside in the private courtyard reading a book and listening to nature. This was a great spot for a couple in the midst of Tucson and easy access to many places within minutes.

We stayed at the guest house for a week and would definitely rent again. Bonnie and Steve are friendly hosts and their home is conveniently located for many places you'll want to go in Tucson. I've rented lots of homes through VRBO and like to cook when I'm on vacation. I found this kitchen to be better outfitted than most I rent in this price range. There's nice cookware and plenty of dishes. They also have a large, clean gas grill you can use anytime you'd like. Bonnie has also included all the little things like dishwasher detergent, shampoo, trash bags, etc., that are usually missing from a rental home. This property would be particularly convenient if you plan to spend time visiting a student at U of A. Just down the street, you could even walk to the campus.

Stayed here for a month in May-June 2009. The pictures do not do the property justice: it's just lovely and very thoroughly outfitted for entertaining, relaxing. Decor is marvelous--warm & inviting but luxurious as well--and the kitchen a joy to cook and eat in. Private patio w/ fountain a delight in the mornings for bird watching while drinking coffee while listening to the soothing trickle of the fountain. Area is close to UofA (1 mi to Arts complex) while being quietly residential and 1-1/2 blocks from central bike lane. Hosts Bonnie & Steve very generous and friendly w/o being intrusive. Off street parking and private washer- dryer a plus.

We spent five nights in Bonnie and Steve's guest house, and enjoyed our time there very much. Our hosts welcomed us with refreshments and pleasant conversation, providing information about Tucson (our first visit) that helped us find our way around. The guest house was extremely comfortable, a bright, nicely decorated, and well furnished place that was perfect for a couple of visitors. This was our first experience with renting a home rather than going the hotel or bed and breakfast route; Bonnie and Steve have set the bar very high, and their spot will definitely be our first choice should we return to Tucson.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Bonita for 2 nights during Parents Weekend at U of A in October 2008...we loved the accomodations! Bonnie and Steve were lovely hosts, and the guest house had everything we could have asked for. Wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of the full kitchen and patio area. Our son joined us for the weekend on the pullout couch..plenty of room. We'll definitely ask to stay again!

About the owner: We are retired court reporters. Bonnie is a quilter/fiber artist. Steve is an avid golfer. Both enjoy outdoor activities.

Why the Owner Chose Other Tucson Properties:
Proximity to University and all that campus offers. The big plusses were the large kitchen and studio.
