This unique oceanside carriage house is just 20 feet from ocean. It has one bedroom with a king size bed. Our beach is a quiet, sandy, mile long neighborhood beach on Casco Bay, with views to the islands, lighthouses and the ship channel. Watch the lobster boats, ferries and yachts as well as beautiful sailboats, luxury liners as they enter and leave Portland Harbor. You can see Springpoint Light and the Portland Headlight, the most photographed lighthouse in the country.
Take the oceanside green belt right outside our door to local bistros and seafood restaurants, and two lighthouses. For breakfast,walk to Scratch Bakery for one of their famous home made bagels and other goodies. Enjoy a 3 mile round trip walk past Spring Point Light and Joe's Boathouse to Bug Light and back. Relax on our front porch on one of the rockers and watch the boat traffic on the water and the people and dogs having fun on Willard Beach.

Downtown Portland and the Old Port with their wonderful restaurants, shops and entertainment are only 10 minutes away and easily accessible over the Casco Bay Bridge. For world class shopping and bargains take I-295 north to Freeport, home of L.L. Bean or south to Kittery which offers miles of outlet shops. Outstanding summer theater is available an easy 45 minute drive to Ogunquit or Brunswick.
After a busy day, relax in our beautifully landscaped backyard. We offer a gas grill for your use.

My wife and I reside in this beach front property. There are only 4 units in the building which is located in a residential water side neighborhood. All this adds up to the opportunity to enjoy a pleasant, quiet vacation in Maine.

I would like to respond to the review of 7/19/10. My husband and I are from Florida and we have been renting the Carriage House for a month each year for five years now. Please don't let that review stop you from renting this cute place.We just love it there. The place is perfect for a couple. We saw it on the internet and hoped it would look like the pictures, it was that and even more. It does have a garage door that goes up and has a screen.It makes the room nice and light. There are french doors over looking a sun-dappled backyard with beautiful flowers all around. It's so peaceful sitting out there. The upstairs has a king bed and living area. It has 18 windows all around that room. It's so bright and cheerful. It also has air conditioning up stairs. The owners are Judy and Darrell. They are wonderful people who go out of their way to make our visit so enjoyable. They keep asking us if we need anything, and if we do, it will be there for us. They have been great friends and feel like family to us now. It's about 25 steps to the beach. What a view! A great location. Connie & Joe Palm Beach Gardens, Fl

We found staying at the Carriage House a rewarding experience - a jump over to Portland in the midst of the seaside community of South Portland. Willard Beach is fun for swimming, walking, viewing boats and birds. The Carriage House is rustic and full of Maine kitsch. There’s a lot of space. The upstairs room cooled off, even on the hottest day of the year, and the king-size bed is excellent. The bathroom and kitchen facilities are adequate. The living area is sparse, but it opens onto a beautiful private garden with lots of flowers and plenty of shade. The neighborhood is quiet, and our hosts were friendly and hospitable. If you’re looking for a place that takes dogs, this is THE place, and Willard Beach is one of the few beaches that allow dogs.
Recommended for:Pet owners.

This is not a house, nor a condo for that matter. It is actually a two-door garage with a second floor added. The garage doors make up one wall of the "house." Of course this is conveinetly left out of any pictures. There are bugs/insects everywhere and I mean everywhere. The walls and floors are unfinished. The couch is actually the backseat of an old car. There are not two bedrooms as advertised. There is one large room with a bed in it. There are not 1.5 bathrooms. There is only one bathroom, with unfinished walls, which only has a shower (no bath) . You can't see the water from the porch. The water is not in view of the house (woops, I mean garage) and there is no porch for that matter. Bottom line. If you want to spend your hard earned money to stay in a garage, more power to you.
