We stayed here for 4 nights over the Easter weekend. We had a wonderful time. The house is set in acres of land and looks out over the sea. It is equipped with everything you could possibly think of and more. I enjoyed sitting out on the deck at night under the stars covered with the electric blanket listening to the sound of the water lapping against the beach. We saw a seal, deer and an eagle. If you are looking for a fantastic hoise in an idyllic setting then this is the place for you. We hope to return again soon.

This rental was in such a nice, tucked away, tranquil location! We really enjoyed coming "home" to this house for 2 weeks! The house was clean, and had everything one would need to cook, and enjoy the atmosphere. The sunrises were beautiful to watch from the deck or the dining room. There was an eagle nest in one of the very tall trees in the yard. Our dogs loved sunning themselves on the back deck in the morning, and the expansive lawn elsewhere during the day. Our 2 year old loved running, well, everywhere, and exploring the beachfront area. We had a bonfire with a beautiful view and watched the boats pass by. It's an easy 3 miles into town for groceries, playground, and other fun activities. We drove the entire island and explored several beaches. We did a little hiking in Lime Kiln State Park, where there is also a lighthouse. The local camel lives nearby, with his llama and horse friends. The winery is right there as well. I wish we could come back when the lavender is blooming, but the lavender store sufficed for this trip! This is a great location to either enjoy the opportunity to do nothing, or go enjoy exploring! We did some of both!

We had a wonderful stay with our two pooches. The house was perfect! Beautiful view, private setting with plenty of room for our dogs to run around, and had every amenity you could want. The owners have thought of everything. We had plenty of wood to use in the woodburning stove, a well equipped kitchen, soap, shampoo, hair dryer, plenty of towels (dog towels too!), and very detailed instructions and information about fun things to do on the island. There is even a huge dog bed that our dogs loved. Kristy and Charles were very prompt in answering phone calls and emails and extremely helpful. We will definitely be back!

Seclusion, incredible views, responsive owners, fully equipped and cleaned home, what more need I say. We loved it. We found plenty to do on the island even with some rainy weather. The owners provide so many ideas in the house guidebook that we wished we could stay two weeks to try them all!

Our family had the most relaxing stay! We were hoping to have some quiet time as family before sending off our eldest to college. We had just that and more! The beautiful view, proximity to Friday Harbor and well appointed house made our stay worry-free, fun and relaxing. We all loved it!

Charles and Kristy are wonderful people and this is a great spot for all ages. A past review that was really helpful to us explained that the loft which sleeps four in single beds is open to below, so we had no surprises. The one master bedroom with a king size bed is comfortable and private. The house is very clean, the kitchen is well stocked. We enjoyed watching Sammy the seal and the eagles feed the babies.

The Herricks' home could not have been nicer. The house was impeccably clean and very well appointed -- we had all the pots, pans and spices that we needed in order to prepare meals for the 5 nights that we were there. The overstuffed couches in the living room were cushy and comfortable, and provided the perfect place to sit under a blanket and watch the thunderstorms that visited us during two of our nights on the island. There is even a large dog bed in the house so our four legged "kids" were just as comfortable as we were. The lot on which the house sits is very large, and exceedingly private and peaceful. It is at the end of a long private road and is surrounded by tall trees that make it feel utterly secluded. During our time there, we saw seals, deer, and so many bald eagles that they began to feel commonplace. Our dogs loved playing in the yard and exploring all the nooks and crannies on the property. The two beaches provided an easy launch point for paddleboards and kayaks. It really was the perfect escape! I hope we are able to return very soon.

We were looking for a quiet, secluded place in the San Juan's just to get away for the weekend, relax and hike a bit with our two dogs. We found all of that in this house. It is nowhere near any road (let alone a major one), so the dogs could run around at will in the back and front yards. The house was exactly as described. It's substantially above the water, but still feels like you're right on it. The wildlife, the seclusion and the fairly central location on the island -- to get to any good hiking spot quickly -- made this the perfect weekend get-away. Thanks Charles and Kristy for such a wonderful weekend. We'll be back!

My husband, our dog, and I spent the weekend at this house and had a great time. The listing information was accurate and did not disappoint -- the master bedroom was comfortable, the views were amazing, and the yard was perfect for our (small and not very bold) dog to run around off leash. The house was very well stocked -- we used both sets of binoculars for eagle watching, and we made smores at the fire pit. The owners responded to my email promptly, provided an abundance of useful information, and were very kind and generous overall.

My family enjoyed every minute of our trip to this wonderful vacation home. We saw seals and otter a few yards off shore right in the back yard more than once. There was an eagle family right on the property, along with deer. The cozy wood stove was perfect in the evening. The kitchen and supplies were plentiful. The beds were extra comfy too! So hard to leave back to our busy lives. A+!

My husband and I spent the week of September 18th, 2011 at this property. The owners' photos and description were excellent and the property was even more beautiful than the photos convey. The wildlife was amazing, the traffic on the water was entertaining (especially the kayakers) and the view of the mountain was incredible. The grill works great and they've graciously left spices in the cabinets to share with everyone. Perfect place for rest and restoration and close enough to run into town to buy groceries, visit the Whale Museum, dining, go on a whale excursion or shopping. It is intoxicating sitting out on the deck with beautiful views in each direction. There is a wonderful wood stove inside and a firepit outside, along with firewood. If you're planning a trip to the San Juan Islands, this is the perfect place to stay. The owners' were a pleasure to work with in setting up the dates for our stay and in sending us a list of things to do while on the island. We will be back!

My wife and I stayed at this property two times: in summer and winter. Both experiences were wonderful, this place will make you feel at home in any weather. Although all the attractions of San Juan Island are reasonably close and Friday Harbor is just a short drive, once you get to the house you feel miles and miles away from the noise and lights of urban life. Just one evening on the huge deck, watching the stars, looking on the water, listening to the forest is worth to visit this place! Thank you, Charles and Kristy for such amazing vacations.

October 2010, my wife and I chose to spend our anniversary at Friday Harbor. We previously stayed in a B & B, enjoyed San Juan Island, and decided to return. We rented on the internet from the Herrick's and our experience was wonderful! The house was clean, well equipped, and view of sunrises, just wonderful! We would recommend this house, and will rent again! Dave & Jean Benz

My husband and I (with our two dogs) stayed at this lovely home for a wintry February weekend. This is a wonderful location for winter, as well as any other time of year. Well appointed home with thoughtful amenities. Great views and lots of privacy. Owners are very kind and very easy to work with. We would most certainly stay again!

Just got back from staying three nights in this unit, and I must say we really enjoyed our stay. The view from the deck is wonderful and the unit is very secluded. Nicely appointed kitchen and comfortable beds on main floor and upstairs. Would come back and stay again.
