The condo is wonderful! Clean, comfortable and updated. Walking into the unit with the view of the Pacific and Molakai is breath-taking! Watching whales and sunsets from your lanai is simply the best. The owners are wonderful to work with - reserving and information given in a great and timely manner. This was our 9th year at Papakea and we will hopefully return to this unit again! Mahalo!

Lovely condo right by the beach

We had a really lovely time at this condo, which is right on the water. We saw whales from the lanai and went to sleep with the loud but soothing sound of the waves. The resort is large but surprisingly quiet and low-key. The kids enjoyed the pool and we used the barbecues to grill fish from the fish market right down the street. Unfortunately, we encountered a good amount of rain, so we didn't get to use the beach in front of the condo as much as we would have liked. (Instead, we drove south where we found great beaches and more sun.) However, if there had been more sun the beach outside would have been a great place to lay in the sun or play in the sand. On our last day, we had better weather so we walked about 10-15 minutes south and found an impressively large coral reef with very calm snorkeling. When we dunked our heads under the water, we could even vaguely hear the whale songs--very cool! The condo itself was well-equipped and comfortable for two couples and two kids. The only thing that we didn't have but could have used was a Brita pitcher for the fridge. The owner was very helpful and wonderful to work with! For the price we paid, I can't imagine there is a better deal in Maui. Thanks again!

We thoroughly enjoyed this spacious, well appointed, completely updated condo. The master bedroom at oceanfront was so beautiful. The surf completely masked any noise at night yielding a peaceful night's sleep. We would love to return! The added details of beach towels, boogie board, snorkeling gear, etc. we're appreciated.

Majestic View

This is our 2nd time staying in your lovely condo, and the 3rd time at Papakea. View: The view from your condo is spectacular! We watched whales, turtles, and all kinds of water activities from the lanai. Location: The location is great! We walked to the farmer's market just down the street once or twice a week and picked up fresh fruit and bread sold from the local farmers. Delicious! There are a number of great restaurants close-by when you want to dine out. Fully Stocked: We loved how your condo comes fully equipped for cooking, and barbequing at the poolside is so easy. Activities: There are many activities to do, but one of our favorites is the catamaran to Lanai for the day. We went snorkeling at some wonderful beaches to the south, and we enjoyed riding the waves at some of the beaches to the north. The beach at the condo was very pleasant for either snorkeling or swimming. Overall: Everyone was very nice at Papakea and the grounds were kept immaculate. We so enjoyed sitting on the lanai, going to the beach, and all the other activities. We hope to venture back one day.

My daughters, husband, and I were so excited when we walked into the lovely condo with an incredible ocean front view. The beds were comfortable and the condo was clean. The decor was nice. It was pleasant to have an air conditioner in the bedrooms at night, although in the middle of the night I turned it off because the temperature was so cool outside. I loved listening to the waves all day and all night.

What a view!!

Wow, can't get any closer to the water! We loved hearing the waves and drinking our coffee in the morning and watching the sea life from our deck. Second morning we were there we watched stingrays feed right next to shore and then the next day whle eating lunch on the deck we saw about 50 dolphins swimming in a line swimming north. We have never seen that before. There are newer resorts but they are not as close to the water as this. Loved the view from the master bedroomThe view was better than the pictures. This unit was very clean and comfortable and it is well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed for a few BBQs after we had cocktails on our deck watching the sunset. We also loved Dukes restaurant which was really close. The resort itself had beautiful gardens and our kids loved the putting greens, shuffle boards and choosing which pool they were going to use. Owners were great to work with, answered all my questions quickly.

Amazing!

We stayed at Papakea for our destination wedding. Many of our guests also stayed at the Papakea. We chose this resort due to it's great location, beautiful public grounds, and good value. This particular unit was wonderful. The condo was in good shape, and the kitchen was lovely. The Lanai and views are decadent. Much like other guests, we just loved sitting out on the Lanai watching the ocean and enjoying the refreshing ocean breeze. The kitchen had everything we needed. The towels provided for the beach and pool were extremely convenient. We had several bbqs by the pool. The pool cabanas they have are first come first serve, but proved valuable our first night when we hosted a bbq for our wedding guests, and it was sprinkling on and off. Check in and check out was smooth. Parking was never a problem. Again, location was perfect, stores nearby, beaches, restaurants. It was our first ever trip to Hawaii and it was perfect. Rachelle was great to deal with, she was very responsive and everything went smoothly. Would definitely recommend it to others.

Great place to stay when you visit Maui!

This beautiful condo exceeded our expectations! It was comfortable, homey and had all the amenities we needed. The A/C in both bedrooms was a definate plus. We enjoyed the views from the lanai each day, the crashing of the waves, watching sea turtles and of course the beautiful Maui sunsets! It's within walking distance to a farmers market and grocery store. The shopping in Lahaina was awesome, lots of great shops and restaurants. Cool Cat has the best burgers! We enjoyed the zipline in Kaanapali and you have to do the Road to Hana! Rachelle was very helpful and welcoming. We will recommend this condo to everyone and would stay there again.

This was my second time visiting Maui and this condo had the best location and amenities. Great views, well equipped kitchen, friendly staff. The condo was clean and well maintained. The owner was very helpful and answered any questions I had. Would highly recommend this unit.

We stayed at the Papakea condo the second week in May. What a wonderful condo, view and location. The place is fully stocked with everything we needed to cook, clean and play. Our kids (ages 9 and 6) spent a ton of time in the pool. Mornings having coffee on the lanai overlooking the ocean were just perfect. Sunsets were beautiful from the lanai as well. The view is much nicer than the pictures showed and we especially enjoyed having the master bedroom with the ocean view. Rachelle, thank you for your emails answering our questions about Maui and the condo. Communicating with you was so easy! We will for sure use your place again!

Terrific place to stay on Maui

My wife and friends arrived on Maui the week of April 23, 2011. Was preasently surpriced to see just how nice the unit and was actually more then we expected. The Unit is located within a short drive to Downtown Lahaina and walking distance to the action at other Kaanapali resorts. Papakea where the unit is located is beaufiful, well kept grounds and clean facilities with ocean and mountain views. Beaches are close by and most excurisons will pick you up at Papakea. We will definetely stay at this unit again when we are in Maui.

Just like home

We loved this oceanfront condo - the ocean was less than 50 yards away! It was wonderful to fall asleep to the sound of the waves every night. My family really appreciated the available putters and boogie boards - they were well used during our stay. We also saved a ton of money by being able to eat at home for several meals. The poolside BBQ grills were great - even if you had to wait for a grill to open up the kids could play in the pool. We especially enjoyed Fleming beach (about 5 miles up the road) for boogie boarding with the nice soft sand all the way out into the water (the beaches near the condo were pretty rocky). We would stop at Subway (across the street) and grab sandwiches to take with us to the beach. We also highly recommend Piiholo Ranch Zipline for some great adventure and the Old Lahaina Luau for a traditional luau with great food. The A/C conked out the last night we were there but we just opened all the windows and cranked up the ceiling fans. Overall, wonderful relaxing vacation - hope we can come back someday.

Owner response:Guest used the airconditioning for the duration of their stay. It broke down Friday night and they called the after hours emergency number. Guest was scheduled to leave by 11am Saturday. Our management company came out on Saturday after the guest had checked out to make sure circuits weren't blown. Our management company called A/C repairman and it was fixed. Just like in your own home, things break down. We get them fixed just as quickly as we can. As this guest stated, since we are right on the water, we get great tradewinds.

Wonderful Condo

This was our first time to Maui and what a fantastic time we had. We stayed in a different condo the first week of our stay and this condo the second and by far, this one was much better. It had everything we needed. It was modern and super clean, well stocked with everything you could ask for (even boogie boards, tennis raquets, etc.) along with a great view of the ocean from the lanai, where we saw several whales and many amazing sunsets. Everyone around the complex was friendly and it was fun meeting new people at the BBQs nightly. Convenient location for groceries and restaurants and close to Lahaina's Front Street (my favourite!). Rachelle was great to deal with and the booking went very smooth. Can't wait to return some day! Mahalo!

We loved your condo more than anywhere we have ever stayed and can't wait to save up to return. It was everything we expected and more. We actually saw whales everyday. We walked to dinner along the beach. The place, was perfect, quiet with friendly people. They even have a "free" Mai Tai night on Wednesdays, that I could not resist. We stayed at three resorts while we were in Maui and this was my families favorite! And what a view! Even when your inside it is like being outside still because of the view that surrounds you! Thanks for sharing your home. This was an awesome condo. The location is perfect, you couldn't be any closer to the ocean! Spectacular sunsets and perfect to watch the turtles, just wish we were there when the whales were. The unit had everything we needed including the tennis rackets & putters. The unit was clean and updated and very comfortable. The air conditioning in both bedrooms was a great plus! We have been to Papakea four times previous and this is by far the best unit we have stayed in and can't wait to come back. Papakea is a very convenient location with grocery, farmers market and places to eat all within walking distance - Java Jazz great for breakfast. Only minutes to Lahaina which is our favorite to shop and eat - love Bubba Gumps and Lahaina Pizza for deep dish pizza. Would definitely recommend staying here. The owners were very helpful and responsive. Thanks again for a great time!

A wonderful stay in paradise

This condo is spectacular in all aspects--updated, air conditioned, comfortable furniture, an incredible beachfront location, and located at a resort with beautiful, well maintained grounds. For the price it far exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed shopping at Whaler's Village and dining at Leilani's at sunset. Across the street Maui Arts and Gifts has beautiful art for sale (we bought photos of turtles) and Pizza Paradiso has excellent mediterranean food. The rainbows and sunsets from the lanai were amazing. The owner was very responsive and helpful from beginning to end, and responded quickly when we had a question the day we arrived. I have already recommended this unit to several friends, and we plan to come back.

Our family had a wonderful experience staying in this condo. It was clean, well stocked and had a beautiful view in a quiet building. The unobstructed view from the living room and master bedroom is permanently imprinted in our memory. Our family enjoyed endless hours at the beach and pool. We grilled at the pool every night, played some rounds on the putting course, and the kids loved the koi fish ponds. Thank you for sharing your great space with us, we will be back!

Teen friendly

The views and property were exactly as presented in the pictures. The property is well maintained, and very quiet compared to others. There is little to no beach, but next door is a large beach. The property was clean, there were plenty of towels, and washer/dryer made it easy to maintain. All utensils/blender/toaster etc were in working order. I would recommend this property to anyone who prefers the ocean sounds - the crashing against the seawall is superb. It's a 2 mile walk to Whalers, or you can hop the shuttle next door for $1 each way. Great running on the beachwalk, Duke's is 0.5miles away. Recommend Mama's Fish House in Paia for an expensive, excellent lunch or dinner. The poke and fish selections at Times market are excellent, and it is right across the street. For a kid friendly meal order pizza from Round Table, get coupons online. The zip line is well worth it, book online to save 10%, at zipline.com. We did the Kaanapali line.

Miss It Already!

We have been at the Papakea many times and keep returning, we really love the property and it accomodates our family of 5 beautifully. Of all the rooms we have stayed in, this was by far the best! The location, the views, and especially the way the room is set up with the master bedroom facing the ocean can't be beat! The owners were prompt in our communications and very easy to work with, not to mention friendly! We love the town of Lahaina and always spend a lot of time walking around and having our meals there. Our kids favorite place is Moose McGillicuddy's.(ours too for happy hour!!) In Whaler's Village, we love Leilani's. Of course, we always hit up Pizza Hut after our long day spent driving to and from Hana! We would and have recommended the Papakea to friends and family and will continue to do so. We hope to stay in this unit again, hopefully soon!!

Great views, relaxing atmosphere

The wife and I spent the most relaxing vacation we've had in years at Steve and Rachelle's condo at Papakea. The unit is located in the "L" building, the best location on the Papakea property. If you love the sound of the ocean, one of the two bedrooms is oceanfront so you'll have many a peaceful dream. The room is 3rd floor so you'll also get great views of Molokai and Lanai while sitting on the balcony. We've been to Pakakea in December so you can also watch the whales there during their annual migration. We look to save some money over the big hotels, yet still enjoy the charm of Hawaii. The complex has 2 pools, hot tubs and barbeques. We love going to Maui but as you probably know, food is a bit expensive. We ended up barbequing almost every night. There's a nice large market within walking distance. We highly recommend this particular unit as it is well kept and for those who need it, there is air conditioning in both bedrooms. That is something you don't get in most units. Plans are already being made to return here again. Thanks Rachelle for the great emails too!

A Wonderful Vacation!

Our family of 4 loved staying at this condo! The view alone is worth it!! The condo is well kept and clean and the owners were very easy to deal with. The location, lay out and extra ammenities of the the condo worked well for our family (2 kids: 5yr & 21mo). This condo is quiet because it's not facing or backing onto the garden/pool area. Being on the 3rd level, not many people can looky-loo in when strolling by. With all the kid-junk we had to haul, it was also nice to be so close to a parking area. Papakea is a great property. Our youngest was scared of the ocean waves. Luckily at low tide the waves break on a coral wall further out creating a sort of tide pool making the beach calm. We brought walkie talkies and used them when BBQing or playing on the property. Some day trips we recommend are a Haleakala road trip, hiking to Nakalele Blowhole or playing at the Ocean Centre & Sports Park. Our favorite places to eat were the Plantation House, Betty's or the Lahaina Fish Co. Wonderful property & condo!

Amazing view and beautiful condo

The first thing you notice when you walk into the condo is the view. It is jaw dropping. The ocean is right in front of you, just steps away. We spent many hours watching the whales play in front of us. This is a very special condo. The renovations are fabulous. The kithcen is 1st rate. The condo has the nicest master ensuite of any I have seen at Papakea (I have been coming for years and have seen many units). I LOVE having the master bedroom at the front overlooking the ocean. It is extra nice to have big windows in the bedroom (some units have master bedroom with only small windows). There is nothing quite like staying in an ocean front unit. The unit was immaculate and had everything you could possibly want. We rented 4 units for our family (15 of us) to use. This unit was the unit my new husband and I stayed in:) We were married March 6th. Papkea is perfect for family gatherings (or in our case, a family wedding).

I have stayed many places in Maui and this beat them all! Wonderful view of whales, ocean and other islands. Great large condo with 2 baths and large enough kitchen to really cook. Quiet, well maintained. The shower curtain gave out and they fixed it the same day! Great experience, we will be back.

This condo is in the absolute best area of the resort.We spent hours on the oceanfront lanai,spotted lots of whales,and the snorkeling there is as good as it gets.The owners are very kind to deal with and we sure appreciate sharing their property.Hopefully we'll go back to that very same place soon again.

The condo met all our expectations and more!! The view is priceless and even better than the pictures reflect. Everything necessary for a short or long visit is included.
