Breathtaking Views at This Oceanfront Apartment in Playa Azul
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Luquillo
Well, it's not called "La Isla del Encanto" for nothing! The Location is perfect for families and couples. Many amenities are available at the condo and very close by. From the direct beach access from the building, pool, basketball and tennis courts, playgroung for children to nearby Grand Hotels, Rainforest, Haciendas with Horse Backriding, Restaurants with local and international foods. So much to explore, so little time!!!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
I simply fell in love with this place when I first saw it. The view took my breath away. My favorite part is to have breakfast in my balcony and enjoy the sea breeze. This is where I go to disconnect from the busy City Life. The area has so much to offer and I wanted travelers from all over the world to experience this great property.
Owner's Map of Luquillo
My name is Vicky Vega and I live in Miami, FL. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico and have owned this Condo since 2006. After looking for a long time in the Playa Azul Complex, I finally found the perfect unit for us. Located in Building One, which has the better view of the ocean of the 3 Buildings.

We love Ocean front playa azul condo, one of our best vacation of the year! The beach was secluded and romantic and water was nice and clean. It is close to all the attractions we wanted to do and all the shops. Easy to find right off the highway. The condo had everything we needed like beach chairs and coolers. Vicky was easy to work with and we got our deposit back very quickly. I give a 4 because the neighborhood was kind of ugly but that is notthing to worry about, the condo is secured and safe! Thank you vicky we will definitely stay there again and recommend to friends and families oh and sorry for the late review. Lysa

You cannot beat the breathtaking view from this apartment! Although the apartment is small, the patio more than makes up for it. You can tell that it has been updated with new tile, new bathroom fixtures, new refrigerator, etc. The 24 hour security is a plus since the apartment building is located on a public beach. We did not experience any problems with loud music which was mentioned in previous reviews. The kitchen is very well equipped and all of the beach accessories you need are provided. The only issue that we had was the fact that the TV was missing in the 2nd bedroom so we ended up letting our two teenagers take control of the one in the living area. The great thing about this, though, is that when we notified Ms. Vega about the TV she immediately offered to give us a credit for the inconvenience - and that's the way a great business person operates! You must go to the rain forest which is a short 10 minute drive away. We also ventured out to the Copamarina Resort and Gilligan's Island in Guanica for one night and visited the lighthouse in Cabo Rajo - absolutely amazing. We snorkeled every day - don't miss Seven Seas Beach in Fajardo. On our last day we took a catamaran tour with Travelers Island Adventures - don't use them! We suggest Salty Dogs as we went to the same locations for our two stops as them and they were having a lot more fun! I would highly recommend this convenient and well maintained vacation rental.

Everyone in our family enjoyed staying there. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. We definitely appreciated all the conveniences included in the rental such as beach accessories, kitchen supplies, washer/dryer, comfy beds, and security to name a a few. The beach, the view and breeze (cross ventilation) were absolutely awesome. The building staff was very friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or asked for directions. We miss it already!

On our recent trip to Puerto Rico in April, my husband & I along with my best friend & her hubby stayed at Playa Azul. Vicky's condo was the perfect place for us 4. It was on the 7th floor, ocean view. Travel to the condo was a breeze. It was a straight shot from San Juan. The condo is about 30-40 minutes in Luquillo. Vicky gave us all of the information we needed to get settled. The condo is gated and very secured, so you definitely felt safe the entire time. When we arrived, the condo was super clean. It had everything you could think of needing. It was a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom. The rooms had all of the bed linens, and the bathroom had all of the needed towels. One of my favorite parts was leaving the windows opened at night to hear the ocean. It was just what we needed for a great night's sleep. :) The condo also had a kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans, fridge, etc....and of course the blender. :) The living room area was very small, but we really didn't need a huge place for just us 4. The TV had all of the music channels you could play while you cooked/ate dinner as well as the movie channels for the guys! LOL! Us ladies hit the beach! The balcony was the best part! It was the best ocean view (full view!). The palms lined the beach & made a gorgeous sunrise/sunset. Vicky also had beach chairs, beach towels, & even a cart to carry it all down in. There was even coolers & sand toys to use too. We had a wonderful time in Puerto Rico. We will definitely be heading back soon & calling Vicky for a great place to stay!

Tiny Apartment but right on the Beach

I stayed here with two friends for three nights at the beginning of March. *Before I get into the review of the space, I want to note that if you're going this Spring, there may still be construction on-going. We were woken up sometime between 7am and 8am each morning by pounding and sanding belts or some other awful noise. When I asked Vicky about this she said that they were supposed to only be painting at the time of our stay. I thought it would have been nice to have gotten a warning in advance that they would be working on the building.* When we arrived at the apartment, we were amazed at how tiny this place truly was. There is not a lot of space to manuever. We didn't think that would be a problem because we didn't plan on spending tons of time there but even in the evenings to relax and unwind, it was a bit tight on space (the pictures do depict every part of the apartment truly well). Also, we had read that there was a full kitchen so we never bothered to see if there was an oven and/or dishwasher (there aren't). We made do by using the toaster oven and the stove to cook and did all of our own dishes by hand (not a big deal but just be forewarned). We did not use the TV or the video games so I can't speak to those. The CD player did not work but we were able to find a local station that played music in English so we were fine with that. It mentions that there are two elevators but they service different parts of the same building (one each for even and odd floors) so you only have the use of one of them and it's really slow. The access to the beach is from 6am until around 7 or 8pm. If you want to take a stroll after that, you have to take the long way around. We did not use the pools but they keep similar hours. The beds were comfortable and having the towels to use was great. There are only four beach towels so if you need more you'll need to bring them. The beach chairs, umbrella, and carrying cart were great. There are grocery stores within walking distance but we drove based on the amount of food we needed. We were told about a place called Pasta Pueblo by Vicky (it's also rated high on TripAdvisor) and the food was fabulous. If you like a little whole-in-the-wall restaurants, you have to try this out. It's open-air dining and there were only around 6 tables so make reservations. Make sure you bring your own wine as they don't have any there (there is a cork fee). Visiting the bioluminscent bay and Culebra island was FANTASTIC.

Ms. Vega's condo is clean, tastefully decorated, and thoughtfully stocked with everything you need to have a great beach vacation. Grocery stores and restaurants are in walking distance. The rainforest and bioluminescent bays are just a few miles away. If you're looking for a safe, non-touristy place to stay with an awesome view, this is it!
