We completely updated the interior of the Chalet in April 2013 with all new Hardwood, Tile, Carpeting, Appliances and Granite Countertops. The home is centrally located to all of the Park's major attractions. Yosemite Valley is 20 minutes away - Glacier Point is 25-30 minutes - The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia Trees is 35 minutes and Badger Pass Ski Resort (renowned for it's ski school for young skiers) is located 8 miles away. The home has all of the amenities you'd want in a vacation getaway - Satellite TV, WiFi Internet access, Pool Table, a Sauna and a Spa. The Chalet sleeps up to 10 people in 3 bedrooms (2 King Size Beds and 1 Queen), a loft and sofa bed. The beds all feature pillow top mattresses & down comforters for the perfect night's sleep. The chalet has traditional gas heating, as well as a wood stove. Treat yourself to the best location in the Park with all of the amenities you'd want for your ultimate Yosemite Vacation.

The location is very good located midway between the Valley and the Mariposa Grove. The Hot Tub is large enough for about 7 adults and works well. There were a number of issues with the house however which decreased our satisfaction. When we arrived on Thanksgiving evening, the heat was not on and it was very cold- 45 degrees in the house. It took 8 hours of central heat and continuously stoked fire for the house to heat up to a comfortable temperature- so we were unable to enjoy our first evening on a major holiday. There was no heat in the upstairs bedroom. We able to reach the housekeeper the following day who came over promptly and fixed the problem with the upstairs heat. The dishwasher is not functioning well- the door for the soap dispenser doesn’t open automatically and it also leaks water onto the kitchen floor. The dishes were not clean. Although I explained to the owner that we were having a family get together and would be doing a lot of cooking he assured me that the kitchen was more than adequately provisioned. There were no sharp knives for cooking however, nor was there a knife sharpener. The oven is not secured and actually moves when the oven door is opened. The house is not optimally cleaned or maintained- there are cobwebs hanging from the bedframes and most of the lamps have only one functioning light bulb and are difficult to operate- particularly in the upstairs bed room. The DVD player is nonfunctional. The music systems are old radios that are not compatible with portable music systems such as MP3 players. The house should not be advertised as able to sleep 9 adults- there are at most 4 beds including the hide-away bed. And last but not least, the steps of the stairs are very narrow and I fell down twice coming down the stairs.Owner response: We take all guests comments seriously and are disappointed when our home does not meet a guests expectations. In this case we tried, but failed to meet the guest's concerns. The home is kept between 50-55 degrees when there is no one occupying the home to economize on the winter utility usage (approximately $700-$1000/month). As stated in the guest's comments, the housekeepers responded to the guest's call about the heating system and were able to resolve the problem. We visited the home ourselves the weekend after the guests stayed at the home to check the home and systems ourselves. After turning on the heat, we were able to raise the temperature in the house to 70 degrees within 90 minutes of our arrival from the 55 degree setting when we arrived. We did not start a fire in the wood stove because we wanted to check the heating system which appeared to be working properly. We ran the dishwasher and found that there was a small leak in the unit's front door - a replacement dishwasher was ordered. All dishes were clean upon our arrival and we found no evidence of the cobwebs that the guest talked about. Although we have had no previous guest comments about the knives being dull, we purchased a new set of knives for the home based on the guest's feedback. We checked the oven and could not identify the issue that the guest commented about - the oven is built in and secure, the oven door operated properly. We were able to operate the DVD player (it appears the guest did not change the video input source from the Satellite TV to the DVD player). We assume that they could not figure out how to make the change and have added comments to our check in instructions to make sure that future guests don't experience the same difficulty. The home has 3 bedrooms with 2 king size beds and 1 queen size bed. Additionally there is a convertible sofa bed and 2 inflatable queen size aero beds and a smaller, 1 person fold out sleeping mat at the home. We routinely have group sizes of 10 guests use the home and cannot understand the guest's comments about not being able to sleep 9 adults. The stairs in the home are the original construction and built to code with hand rails. We reviewed the housekeeping comments with our housekeepers who are a local couple that live near the home. In this case they responded to the guest's call for assistance with the heating system and did not receive any comments from the guest that the house was not in ready condition upon their arrival.

This home could not have a more perfect location. Far enough from the mobs of tourists in Yosemite Valley, but close enough to hit all the trails in minimal time... on either end of the park. Also not far to Mariposa from the house. House had all it needed and was clean.Hot tub and pool table were great distractions with young teens - and the BBQ on the deck during sunset cannot be beat. We have already recommended this property to some friends. Thanks Eric!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We traveled with 5 adults and 1 child. The cabin is spacious and all of us had a great weekend stay in this cabin. We used pool table, jacuzzi, bbq grille and took advantage of the full-supplied kitchen(not the most modern one but we dont mind at all). We watched the dvd and HBO at night. This cabin is quite child-proof because of the carpet flooring. Our 1 year old baby just walked around the whole space and she sure loved it. Forgot to mention that we also brought the wifi router and totally made everyone happy! Our family were so glad with this choice, we will definitely stay here if we visit Yosemite again.Recommended for: Families with young children.

We had a wonderful weekend trip here and enjoyed everything about our experience. The home is nice and cozy with a great layout for families. The home is well furnished, and had everything we needed. The adults enjoyed playing pool, sitting in the hot tub, and stayed warm by the fire; while the kids had fun playing games, watching movies, and exploring outside. The trip down to the Valley was an easy drive where we enjoyed some hiking and ice skating - Which we highly recommend for everyone to experience!! It was a blast, and there was a nice fire ring next to the rink where we roasted marshmallows. It was nice to come back out of the valley afterward to peace and quiet. Love, love, loved our trip and can't wait to do it again. Thanks for Sharing your home with us. :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed here for three days in late June with my two adult sons, and my four teenagers. This place is perfect for families. it is large, and convenient to the park. There is a hot tub, sauna and pool table. We had weather ranging from rain to warm sun- when it got cold, just built a fire in the fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is an excellent gas grill on the deck. We had a wonderful time here- I would stay again in a heartbeat. It s a perfect place for anyone with older kids. It is furnished in a comfortable style and has everything you could need for a great vacation. Highly recommended. Thanks.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Hi! Just wanted to send a note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at your Cedar Chalet. We found the house in excellent condition and a perfect accommodation for the five of us. We loved the peace and quiet of the evenings, and were very thankful that we didn't opt to stay in the Village - too busy for us! We had one day of serious hiking ... my husband, daughter, and niece hiked the trail of Yosemite Falls... they made it safely to the top to take in the view and savor that feeling of a major accomplishment! Our niece's husband and I found some "easy" trails to explore and really enjoyed ourselves. Our timing was perfect for this visit - plenty of water to show off the splendor of the falls, and beautiful summer flowers all along the way. And, perfect weather... which allowed us to see the most amazing stars on our evening "Stargazing" tour at Glacier Point. One evening, we decided to watch the sunset from the fire ranger station near your chalet - but we never reached our destination - we encountered one of your huge park bears - right in the middle of the trail! Everyone hightailed it out of there - I did pause long enough to snap a picture though - to prove the event to our friends! So, we thank you for sharing your little corner of paradise.. and perhaps we will return at some point in the future - we would like to share this experience with our son, his wife, and our new grandchild some day... her pregnancy is the reason they could not travel with us ... but we all agree that the sacrifice will be well worth it! Hope that your summer goes well, and that you are enjoying each day. Sincerely, Dolly CanterburyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This house was pretty much exactly what we were expecting. The owner was very courteous, and the housekeeper was very nice and helpful. Whatever problems with the mold had already been fixed. Very nice view and comfortable place. Only trouble was getting there, and getting in. The roads were hard to navigate in the dark. Otherwise, we had a very pleasurable experience at this chalet.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

This house has abundant mold damage in the upstairs, downstairs and guest bedroom. It's really too bad that they are allowed to continue to rent this house in this condition. I couldn't speak for a week after staying in this house due to sinus and throat irritation. It's really a shame as the house is beautiful and the location great but this needs to be addressed before it is rented out again.Owner response: We wish that the guest had contacted us about their concern, but they did not - simply left the review indicating the house had mold. What the guest preceived as mold was a plumbing leak from an upstairs bathroom that stained a ceiling in a bedroom below the bathroom. Had the guest called us we could have had a contractor out to repair the issue during their stay. Our housekeepers discovered the issue after the guests checked out and repairs were made immediately. Please see subsequent guest comments.
