Venasque is listed among the 126 “most beautiful villages of France” with its Churches dating back to the 6th and 17th Century. Venasque is one of the oldest villages of the Comtat Venaissin, from where it takes its name. History lovers will be in their element, just like the dozens of painters and artists who have chosen to live here. The village boasts a good bakery, Post Office, Church and Mairie as well as a couple of lovely hotel/restaurants, cafés and pretty boutiques, art galleries.

This lovely stone built two storey house faces south overlooking the valley towards St Didier and Carpentras with unique views over the Mont Ventoux. It lies in 1 200 square-meters of natural garden, with two pretty terraces and an incredible pool that blends in with the surrounding scenery. On the shady terrace north side a big wooden table and benches are perfect for sipping coffee or rosé and there are tables and chairs in the garden.

The owners have lovingly and tastefully decorated their home with pretty Provencal materials, antique and modern furniture. On the ground floor you will find a neat fully equipped open plan kitchen with views over the garden and pool area. It has everything needed for a super holiday, a three-burner gas/one electric cook-top and oven with rotisserie, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. There are numerous pretty dishes, pots and pans and glass ware to use. There is a washing machine and dryer area next to the kitchen.

The attractive spacious sunny living/dining room area has a modern long dining table and chairs to seat 8 persons comfortably and there is a cozy fireplace corner for the cooler evenings. The cool sitting room with its comfortable sofa and cute armchairs is perfect for relaxing and watching the television. We also have a DVD and CD players. There are books to read and many family games to play. There is also a Wi-Fi installation for those who still like to keep in contact with the rest of the world even on holiday.

There is a bathroom with wash basin, bath, wall shower and water closet on the ground floor.

On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms; a spacious master bedroom with views overlooking the gardens, queen size bed and cupboard space, then you have a second double bed bedroom adjacent to the shady terrace that overlooks the garden and valley and one twin bedded room (2 x 90-centimeter single beds) There is a shower room with shower, wash basin and WC on this floor also. All the bedrooms have plenty of cupboards and built in wardrobes.

Upstairs again you will find on the top floor the pretty 4th bedroom, walk in dressing and sunny office.

Stone steps lead from the kitchen to a lower terrace in the pretty natural garden where you will find a superb 9 x 4 meter swimming pool built to blend in with the landscape. The surrounds are equipped with sun loungers, parasols and there are shady areas under the trees. A private car park to the rear of the property accommodates 2 cars.

Gordes is just over the Col de Murs and the abbaye de Senanque is also on the wayside as you climb back down the other side of the valley. Isle sur la Sorgue is 20 minutes away and Avignon is about a slow hours drive. Venasque is tucked in a dense forest cupped between two hills and the village comes to life in the early summer when the cherries are ripe and the first timid tourist arrives...

Beautiful Provence Villa

Guest: Anonymous
Date of Stay: 06/29/11 Review Submitted: 08/04/11

Our family of 4 (2 young boys) very much enjoyed this beautiful villa set just outside of the quaint little town of Venasque. The villa was beautifully decorated in the Provencal style. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the appliances as well as various spices and oils. We dined on the outdoor patio enjoying the great view and enjoyed hanging out by the swimming pool. The upstairs terrace provided a spectacular view of the valley and we found ourselves up there to watch the sunsets. My husband and I ran everyday on the windy and hilly roads which gave us quite a work out. We have many great memories of Provence and of this villa and would recommend this highly. We would definitely come back. Special thanks to the owners and to Beverly.

A magical home, part of my heart

Date of Stay: 04/16/10 Review Submitted: 07/30/11

My young daughter and I stayed in this lovely home for almost two months in April and May while she attended a local school and I took French classes. This house was a magical and wonderful home, and everyone took such great care of us. When we arrived, the cherry trees were just in bloom. Before we left, we were gorging ourselves on the fresh organic cherries growing all around us. We hiked, visited the gorgeous perched villages nearby, had friends from Paris and Switzerland come and stay with us, and wished we never had to leave. The garden was well cared for, and we spent much of our time outside -- in the pool, eating on the patio or under the trees in the courtyard, walking to Venasque. The interior is very comfortable, well equipped, and spacious. This was one of the largest houses I've rented in France, with ample storage, spare rooms, and long sight lines. (The spiral staircases might be a challenge for some, however.) Tips for the visitor: bring slippers, as the floors are cold (as they are in nearly all French homes). Bring your own knives, or buy them in France, as rental homes never have good knives due to the high turnover. Bring more money than you planned, because the artisans in the area make such incredible pieces you'll want to bring it all home. And bring your friends, so you don't feel so incredibly guilty staying in such a magical place. This home is immaculate, modern, authentic, and true to the photos. We strongly recommend it.

We stayed at Les Tuilieres in July 2010 with our three children and Victoria's mother. We'd love to stay there again! The house was perfect - great location, well appointed and with enough space in the house and garden for us to spread out and relax. We also enjoyed staying in a house which had been decorated with such care and attention to detail - it had everything we needed (and more, it inspired some purchases for our own kitchen when we got home!). The kids particularly loved the pool, and for the adults the terrace was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the views and a glass of the excellent local rose. Beverly and the owner could not have been more accommodating and helpful. Really highly recommended.

Family of 5/Topsfield, MA

We just returned from a lovely week at Les Tuilieres. We are a family of 5 and thoroughly enjoyed the well appointed, spacious home. We were very comfortable with the monetary transfers - everything was handled in a professional, courteous manner - even when I had ran into problems at my bank, the owners were very helpful and accommodating until I could work out the issue with my bank. Our kids especially loved the pool (it was quite hot!) and we dined al fresco every evening overlooking the pool. Having the option of cooking meals in, rather than eating out every evening was wonderful and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The home is large enough that we all had our own space to escape, whether to read, draw, write or just daydream. The location is an excellent base for exploring some of the perched villages over the mountains (we especially liked Rousillon and Gordes) as well as Avignon, Nimes, St. Remy and Orange. The roman ruins are interesting, and can easily be interspersed with things of more interest to the kids - local markets, cave explorations, and lunch. We went Hot Air Ballooning over the Luberon and we highly recommend this activity. It was beautiful, loads of fun and gave us a birds eye view of the region. We also thoroughly enjoyed the Font de Vaucluse (breathtaking really!), and the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque should not be missed. And finally, we highly recommend the Auberge La Fontaine in Venasque for dinner - we had fun and everyone enjoyed the meal! I would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in this area of Provence. We hope to return sometime soon.

Our group of four adults (two couples) spent a wonderful week at Les Tuilieres in early September. We found the house to be very comfortable, well appointed, and quite spacious. We also found that at those times when we simply wanted to be alone with a good book, or snooze in the afternoon sun, it was easy to find a place to relax. One of my favorite outdoor spots was the upstairs terrace, with its delightful breezes and magnificent view. We began each morning with breakfast on the lawn overlooking the pool. My husband enjoyed the 20-minute (mostly uphill) walk to the lovely village of Venasque, so he stopped in to the boulangerie each morning and brought us back freshly-baked croissants. The view of Mt. Ventoux in the distance was a perfect backdrop for all of our al fresco dining. We found the location of Les Tuilieres to be ideal for easy day trips to nearby villages, markets and wineries. And we enjoyed the best dinner of our entire trip right in Venasque at the Auberge la Fontaine. All in all, this was a wonderful trip, made even better by choosing to stay at Les Tuilieres.

Our party of 7 (family) spent a week at the lovely "Les Tuilieres" near Venasque. We enjoyed every minute of it!!!! The house is beautiful, (way beyond our expectations!!!) very well-appointed and is situated in marvellous suroundings. We couldn't wish for something better. Thanks to the owner for providing us with every imaginable gadget to make our stay comfortable and pleasant! In short, staying at Les Tuilieres allowed us to have an unforgetable week in Provence
