Why the Owner Chose Shelter Island
The location was perfect on the water and walking distance to Shell Beach. We enjoy walking and cycling and it is a quiet area with interesting walks and cycles. There are small beaches nearby for residents only and you might have one to yourself. It is away from the hustle and bustle but with all activities nearby.It is on a large piece of land which is very attractive in the summer.We got around to transforming it from a one floor ranch house to a beautiful wood shingled 2 floor Hampton style house in 2009.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Everyone enjoys lounging on the mahogany deck, swimming in the pool and relaxing over long extended lunch. Swimming in Silver Beach lagoon makes a nice contrast and walking on Shell Beach towards evening is a delight. Our own favourite is to kayak there and then walk or collect pirates toenail shells. There is a lot to explore in our general area walking or cycling. You will see quite a lot of wildlife ie deer, raccoons, Ospreys and sometimes snapping turtles bursting from their shells. If you are really interested then one third of the island is taken up by the Mashomack Nature Reserve with guided walks etc http://www.shelter-island.org/mashomack.html. You must experience the freedom for yourself!

We are very proud of our house and maintain it to a high standard with upmarket fittings. We love summer swimming in the warm Silver Beach lagoon water at the end of our yard and kayaking to Shell Beach for a sunset walk. It is idyllic. Our friends and relatives who visit have never been disappointed.
