If you are seeking a place to get away, gather with family and friends and relax, and be able to bring a furry friend or two, check us out. SecondWind is without doubt your home away from home. We offer unsurpassed comfort, views, and relaxation. The home is located just a short drive north of the quaint town of Yachats-"The Gem of the Oregon Coast". Also just a short beach walk from the famous 804 Trail. Just steps away is a wide sandy beach that can be walked for miles.
In early 2009 we refurbished much of the home. The new skylights, windows, paint, floor coverings and other enhancements provide you with the relaxation and fun your beach vacation is all about. We have just recently installed new picture windows throughout the Ocean facing Gathering Room.
One of the most wonderful features of this home is the upstairs Gathering Room, where many folks can be in this space watching for whales, TV, reading or playing games. The adjoining ocean view deck is great for relaxing and bird watching. Plenty of space for all to enjoy a good time.
Another great feature is the large kitchen with double skylights and adjoins the ocean view sitting area with propane stove for cozy wave watching. Complete with all the extra amenities, it provides a great social gathering place during meal preparation time.
But let's not forget our furry friends, who are totally welcome to come stay with the family. There is an enclosed fenced area off the kitchen sliding glass doors, where pets can hang out on their own private deck to relax and yet still feel part of the family gathering. Within this space is a small grassy area and a water faucet for quick cleanups of sandy paws.
All in all, SecondWind is a wonderful place to come for your family and friends gathering spot.

Retired from hospital laboratory 2004 (Oregon); 3 children, soon to have 4 grandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildren. It was a no-brainer once I visited Yachats, after moving to Portland in 1989. I wanted a place to relax and recenter on my downtime; then I found this house on the beach! There have been upgrades over time, but basically the house has remained the same, comfortably eclectic gathering place it's alway been. In addition I found the quiet and solitude this wonderful community offers the perfect "breather" from an unusually stressful job. As a bonus the cultural activities have been an added benefit.
In retirement I've moved to my hometown in Northern CA and am offering this wonderful beach "getaway" to others to experience just as I have been privileged to enjoy.

It stormed the entire time! All surroundings are flooded! It's impossible to walk to the beach because the path & 10 feet on both sides are under 6" of water. It's amazing that the windows and skylights didn't leak. You can't imagine the force of this storm. This is the first time we haven't been able to get out on the beach at all. We all miss it!! Everything at the house was great. We stayed warm and dry. We'll be back--We will expect our usual good weather....

What a beautifully rejuvenated house to spend a 40th birthday week in. The beach access is perfectly gradual for our old dog's tired hips, the location just past the 804 trail's entrance to the beach ideal & Yachats as charming and diverse a beach town as we remember it from last summer. We hiked the Perpetua trail, saw some roiling wave action at Devil's Churn, enjoyed an above average dinner in the perfect corner table at Ona and enjoyed SecondWind's deck greatly. We saw whales-so strange for July, but the neighbors also saw the spouts and enjoyed watching the rabbits munch and frolic in the yard. We even walked the beach to Waldport. I'd never walked continuously on sand from one town to another--our reward was a cold pitcher at the restaurant on the bay. A lovely time.. Thank you, we will be Back

In this home of yours came together our family. The Elders from Tucson, the middle kids from Portland and the teenager from Carver, MA. Our time spent here has bonded us in wonderful ways. Explorations on the beach, treasure hunting--all of us being wild and free. We cooked fine meals together and enjoyed them in the great room. Games were played, laughter filled the air and together we became a stronger family. This lovely home helping us to create everlasting memories. We hope to return with more of the family another time. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We had a wonderful week here. We enjoyed the 4th of July with the LaDeDa Parade and fireworks over Yachats Bay, all the beauties of Cape Perpetua, running on the beach, playing together as a family and with our Golden Retriever, and watching movies with the view of the ocean over our shoulders!! We loved it! Thanks!

Another fabulous chance to get our "SecondWind" We love it here and had to get out when your regular week in Aug was cancelled ( we'll all be in Mali for 10 months!) This trip was just as good-we scored with really lovely weather and always appreciate the little improvements that keep making the home more and more delightful! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful beach home with us. We enjoyed the gas stove in the mornings with a cup of coffee and the upstairs gathering room with the deck during the rest of the day. Both upstairs and downstairs have beautiful views. We enjoyed everything about our stay and look forward to returning in the near future. PS,, we had dinner at the Drift Inn which was excellent.

Thanx so much for offering your lovely home to us ;-)) We really appreciated the "furry friendliness" of the place--our boys Chester and Ditto loved it. We enjoyed many hours of beach walking and ocean watching--gave us a much needed serenity--never even left the house ;-)) except for doggie playing on the beach. We will be back,,, for sure!!
