Beautiful retreat for writers, artists or anyone looking to recharge. This renovated 1860’s farmhouse is available year round and is 2 minutes from the Delaware River, 2.5 hours from Manhattan. The living room features cathedral windows facing the forest. Start a roaring fire in the working bluestone fireplace. Sit down watch the embers, read a book, or watch a movie on Netlfix, there is wifi here too.
This is an especially nice spot for those who engage in sitting meditation practice, the house is placed on ley lines (according to the locals) and is infused with energy. I am a longtime dharma practitioner and yogi, it would be my pleasure to rent to someone with similar interests/practices. People who spend the night here proclaim the house’s restorative energies. The surrounding neighborhood is a quirky rural artist community.
Features a working bluestone fireplace, cathedral windows which face the forest, hardwood floors, washer/dryer, hi-spd internet, satellite dish tv, DVD/CD player, microwave, gas range. 2Br+1 carpeted sleeping loft. Hammock on porch, Weber gas grill! Fall asleep listening to creek.
Canoe, Kayak (on premises) Fly-fish, Hike to waterfall. Yoga, Golf, Antiquing, Horseback riding 15 min away. Winter months skiing 45 min away.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Used the house as a writing retreat and got a lot of work done. It's quiet, restful and restorative. Got a lot of hiking in and spent some time at the Ledges waterfall. Great spot! Landlord was very thoughtful, responsive and left great list of places to eat. Highly recommend!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

"Thanks for everything. We had a great time and hope to come back next year! You have a great place. We really enjoyed the river and the whole area. My girlfriend had never been down to the Catskills and really loved it. We celebrated her birthday at the Bluestone Grill in Hancock. Really nice evening. Hope to hear from you soon, Thanks again! I stayed here for the last Independence Day weekend and had a great time! The home is a quiet place to get away from the world. Around the home are some very good trekking areas for the outdoor types such as myself. I also went canoeing on the quiet Delaware River just a minute walk away from the house. The place was clean and appeared to be newly re-done. I expected a dusty old cabin but it was anything but that. The owner is is a good natured person and easy to communicate with. If you are in great need of a quiet vacation, bring a friend or a loved one and just relax for a while! I am already looking forward to my next visit to this homeRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We were glad that this traveler enjoyed his stay, and was pleasantly surprised by the renovation. We feel the house has a clean airy feel to it.

Loved the house and the location is unbeileivalbe! So close to the Delaware River for swimming and canoeing or kayaking. Privacy when desired. Close enough to Hancock for shopping. Fully refreshing visit. Five star!!!Owner response: People ask about the 'privacy' aspect to this property. While the house is not 'deep woods' it is set back from the road and has flowering trees and shrubbery which camouflage. Many folks say afterwards they appreciated some contact with the community even tho they were looking for a completely 'private' home, there is enough space for solitude.

Everytime I visit, the house looks more beautiful. The drive is always lovely: as I leave traffic behind, I find myself relaxing. The location is perfect to me -- close enough to "civilization" that you can get out and among people when you want, but off the beaten path enough that you can retreat and recharge.Did you find this review helpful? Beautiful, restorative, transformative. This is an amazing place to spend time. We swam in the Delaware, went tubing, hiked, barbecued, and did a lot of laying around. There's many special spots to discover in the area too. The house has a great energy about it - lots of wood and light and big windows. I woke up blissed-out every morning! The longer you're there, the better you feel...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: We are professional artists and academics who enjoy the tranquility and peace we find in this house. We also are water sports enthusiasts.
Why the Owner Chose Hancock:
Its proximity to the river for swimming and kayaking. The sound of rushing water from the creek at night. The balance between privacy and community...while not a 'deep woods' property, the house is set back from the road and nested into the base a mountain! Our neighbors are artists, healers, and lovely folks.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
While visiting this property, we experienced a rejuvenating energy. This place is magical and healing. Our guests also find that they have the most relaxing sleep because of the charged ions in the air! We use it to inspire our creativity. The surrounding area is a quirky arts community.
