The house is located on the south fork of the American river in Coloma, California. We are minutes from Coloma State Park where gold was discovered. There are amazing trails nearby to hike, bike, or horseback ride. You can put on the river right from the house and raft, float down from farther upstream, or just float out front and take it all in. Ahhhhhhh.

Why the Owner Chose Coloma
Lotus / Coloma is "away from it all" yet has it all in terms of rivers, hiking, nature, and all that makes a person content and happy. We love the community and all the the area has to offer.
The Unique Benefits of this House
There are a number of local rafting companies that you can hire for guided trips out of Coloma, or if you have some skills and your own equipment, you can run any number of sections of river using the house as a base. The 8 mile section down to coloma is the class III 'Chili Bar' section, with a 4 mile class II section from Coloma to Greenwood (locally known as 'C to G') and the final 9 mile class III section down to Folsom Lake known as 'the Gorge'. If you are just learning to kayak, or are game for some exciting inner tubing you can float 1/2 mile downstream to the Hwy 49 bridge, walk approx 500 yards overland, and put back into the river and float 1 mile back down to the house! a really fun little float with five class II rapids and no driving needed. great way to cool off on a hot summer day. There are also a ton of other rivers in the vicinity to enjoy, from leisure float trips to hair-raising waterfalls, it's all nearby.

A beautiful house in a perfect setting. The days on the river were great; the time at the house was equally memorable. We used every nook- from the fire pit to the various outdoor seating + lounge chairs. The details inside are equally charming. Combined with the incredible location, it's just perfect. To be able to inner tube, kayak + raft straight from your doorstep cannot be beat. We would love to come back. Thanks!
