Location: Sunset Beach, southern N.C. coastal region, 1 hour south of Wilmington and 20 minutes north of Myrtle Beach. Sunset Village at Sandpiper Bay is located in Sunset Beach.
Accommodations: Condominium/villa, 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Additionally, a convertible couch double bed in the living room will accommodate 2 additional people for a comfortable total of 6.
Sunset Beach is a small community that includes the island of Sunset Beach, one of the more desirable vacation sites on the Atlantic Seaboard. It is desirable for all the reasons the big name vacation destinations are not – peaceful and quiet. The area is known for its beautifully maintained golf courses, fantastic seafood and, of course, the spacious, clean, and tranquil beach. Sunset Beach island is a barrier island with a couple miles of beaches and located only 10 minutes from our condominium in Sunset Village at Sandpiper Bay. It is considered a family island because there are only beach houses off the sand dunes, no high rise hotels. A variety
of conveniences can be found on the island including a few small shops and eateries, and a long
fishing pier.
Sandpiper Bay Golf and Country Club is beautifully situated on a professionally maintained golf course and our condo overlooks a large pond at the 7th green. Imagine after a day at the beach, perhaps after having a memorable seafood dinner in nearby Calabash, sitting on the porch looking at the water birds swimming on the pond, relaxing and sipping champagne as the sun goes down.
This idyllic situation was one of the main attractions for us when we acquired the condo.
Our condo is fully furnished and equipped, and ready for eager vacationers. The living room has two couches, one of which is a pull-out queen-size bed, stereo system with DVD and VHS players, and digital cable television with expanded basic. The patio door in the living room leads to the screened porch, which has a table and chairs and a two-person glider. The dining room has a large table with chairs. There is a fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher, full-size clothes washer and dryer. The full-size kitchen has utensils, plates, glasses of all kinds, cups, and several small appliances (microwave, toaster, blender, hand-mixer, and coffee maker). The full-size refrigerator has an ice-maker and there is a full-size electric stove. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, walk-in closet (with iron and ironing board), and bathroom with
shower and tub, which is separate from the sink area. It also has a cable television and a patio door which leads to the screened porch. The second bedroom has 2 single beds and large closet. Next to the bedroom entrance is the 2nd bathroom with shower and tub. It also has the linen closet which is stocked with bed linens, wash cloths and towels. Both bedrooms have two dressers each and nightstands with lamps. Additionally there are two storage closets in the kitchen and in the entrance hallway. The condo has central heat and air, and there are overhead fans in the living room and both bedrooms. Out of respect for all our renters, smoking and pets are not allowed.
While the view from the porch at the rear of the condo is of a large pond and golf green, the view from the front is of another large pond leading to the swimming pool and tennis courts. A short walk will get you to the pool which has bathrooms, a changing area, and a hot tub. These amenities are available only to Sandpiper Bay condo owners, residents, and their guests (which include renters). There are also outdoor charcoal barbecue grills.
Ten minutes away in the village of Calabash can be found shops and many restaurants including those that feature the community’s well known specialty – fresh seafood. Twenty minutes away is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with its great variety of Grand Strand shopping and entertainment venues for all ages.
In the village of Sunset Beach, five-minutes away, you will find many stores including Food Lion, CVS and Walgreen’s, restaurants including a pizza shop, along with coffee and bagel shops, and gas stations. Twenty minutes away you will find the Silver Coast Winery that features art exhibits, entertainment and, of course, an excellent selection of dry to sweet red and white wines. Thirty minutes to the north you will find a large selection of well known stores including Macy’s, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Office Max as well as many restaurants, a movie theatre, and smaller shops. There is also a large southern coast information bureau at the entrance to this complex of stores.
