Thanksgiving in Destin

My extended family and I had the pleasure of staying at Doctor's Orders over Thanksgiving week. The house is much larger than it appears in the pictures and the seven of us were very comfortable in the house. It is near the end of a cul-de-sac so it was extremely quiet, but still only two blocks to the Gulf. We used the pool even though it was pretty chilly out! The kitchen was completely outfitted for our Thanksgiving celebration - we weren't missing *anything* in this Chef's kitchen. All of the bedrooms were well appointed. The decks off the two bedrooms overlooking the lake were great for hanging out or stargazing. Destin itself is fantastic. Nice people all around, good restaurants, and a fantastic beach. Bring your bike as there is a great bike trail right along the beach.

We were very excited for our family's return to Destin, we have been coming on vacations there for over 12 years now. We had four families stay in Doctor's Orders this time. The house was awesome! We were a little worried after looking at the photos, but the house is huge! We had a ton of space! The house was so well built that we could send the kids off to bed and not worry at all about the adults waking them up while watching TV. The walk to the beach was good, as well, only takes about 5 minutes. The house also had a ton of beach accessories that we didn't need to go out and buy when we got there, anything from umbrellas to boogie boards! We would recommend Doctor's Orders to anyone.

Home Away From Home

We had the pleasure of spending 7 weeks in this wonderful home. It is fully equipped and we needed to buy nothing to make the stay enjoyable. There was space to gather as a family and play games, as well as space to be by yourself. Most mornings you could find me on the porch swing with my glass of water reading a book. The pool is just right for splashing around in and relaxing. The quick walk to the beach was perfect. The beach was clean and not crowded. The house is secluded and very private yet close to everything you could need. We took our bikes and enjoyed rides along old Hwy 98 and up to Barnes and Nobles for new books to read! It truly was just what the Dr. Ordered for our family. The owners were quick to answer our questions and help in anyway they could. You could not ask for a better place to stay for one week or longer. I highly recommend the Dr's Orders.

The best family vacation ever!

Our family had a wonderful time at Doctor's Orders. The house was great for our 10 month old granddaughter. The packnplay was a godsend. The beds were great and everyone slept well. We enjoyed several meals in the spacious kitchen and dining room. The location was perfect. We spent a lot of time relaxing at the pool. If you are planning a trip to Destin, you must stay at Doctor's Orders!!!

We walked into the home and felt immediately like it was ours, everything was perfect! The location is a very short walk to the beach. There is a fantastic restaurant within walking distance and right on the beach. I could not have chosen a more desirable home and location had a searched all over the island. Thank you for letting us share your beach home! I will recommend this to anyone traveling to Destin and hope to make it an annual vacation.

4th Stay at Doctor's Orders!

This was our family's 4th stay at Doctor's Orders, and we have loved it every year. The location is just a short walk from some of the most beautiful beaches in the U.S., and just a short drive to great restaurants, waterpark, shopping, and other beach attractions. The house is always very clean and comfortable, and with 4 bedrooms, the family can spread out with rooms for the kids, parents, and other family members we bring with us each year. Our kids love coming home from the beach and jumping in the swimming pool. There are beach toys and chairs provided with the house, and we typically leave other items that we buy during the week with the house for others to enjoy during their stay. Cindy is always quick to respond and makes sure that everything is set up for a great stay. Doctor's Orders has fast become an annual family tradition as we leave Texas for a week to enjoy Destin.

Dr's Orders property

The location of this cottage is great. Very quiet neighborhood. Easy access to grocery and restaurants. Kitchen had all the tools we needed to cook for our group which was a great relief. Short walk down private street to beach access. We really enjoyed having the little pool available to us as well! Would recommend this property to anyone vacationing in the Destin area that prefers renting a house over a hotel!

Super Relaxing

Wonder stay. Had everything we needed for cooking in the house and at the grill. The house is very well equiped with linens and bedding and toys for the children. The little kiddo's kitchen found in the closet kept the under 2 crowd enterained for 6 days...THANKS. The pool was lovely and the views from the porches were great. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Beyond our expectations!

This house was all we imagined and more, the pictures do not do it justice. When we unlocked the door we were all amazed at how modern it was. Very clean and LOTS of extras right down to the coffee for the coffee pot. Everytime we opened a draw or cabinet we found something extra that we didn't expect. Ten minute walk tops to the beach and the kids loved the pool. The lights in the pool made it great for nightime swimming too. There were 8 adults and 6 kids and we had plenty of room to sleep, eat, and play without getting in each others way. We would definitely come back

Awesome Stay

This is the best Beach House anywhere. Just like home! The house has everything you could possibly need. Just pack your personal items and you are ready to hit the beach! We have stayed here in March, April, July, August and October in the previous years. It was always perfect. Thanks for such a relaxing stay!

Just what our family needed

We stayed here with our 4 children and my parents. The house had everything we needed. The walk to the beach was easy. The house was clean and everything was in working order. We loved having a pool all to ourselves; the kids swam while I read my book. We enjoyed some much needed family time together. My parents keep thanking us for bringing them along. Our favorite restaurant was McGuires Irish Pub - you must stop here. I already miss the beautiful beach.

Spring Break March 2010

We rented this home with another family for one week. There were a total of 8 people. The house was warm and charming with plenty of room for all. Is is in a very quiet location with short walk to the private beach...we only wish the weather had been warmer! Although the gas grill didn't work so well, many amenities needed for the week were provided. The owners were very accommodating in helping with my elderly mother's special needs. We would definitely consider this rental property again.

Owner response:Wish our guests would have called us about the grill. The grill is a 2 month old stainless steel infrared gas grill. We purchased it from Lowes in mid-Feb 2010. Please call us if there are any concerns. We will try our best to address them. We may not know that something is not working unless a guest informs us.

Perfect Family Vacation

We love Destin and this house was truly just what the Doctor Ordered. We bring our two small children and have the best vacations. The house is just off the beach so you don't have the intrusion and lack of privacy. But you are close enough that it is not a hassle to get there. Speaking of privacy, this house on it's quiet little cul de sac and personnel pool is just perfect. We don't have a lot of extra spending cash so the fully equipt kitchen is just what is needed. But we do try to eat out a few times during our stay and there are plenty of places to choose from. And when the little ones tire of the salt and sand, there are so many other area attractions close by to choose from. It truly is paridise in Destin and we will keep coming back to Doctor's Orders for many years to come.

Relaxing and Fun Vacation

We were very happy with this vacation house. It is in a great neighborhood. It's on a quiet street which is just what we wanted. They thought of everything that you might need while on a beach vacation. We did some cooking and found everything we needed. The home was very clean and well maintained. The water and sand was outstanding at Crystal Beach. I would certainly recommend this property to my friends who are visiting Destin. We had a great time and we are ready to go back.

Thank you so much for having such a great place for us to stay. Destin is a wonderful place but what really makes it perfect is the Beach House. The Cul-de-sac location keeps it peaceful but the location is just a short walk to the beach. The pool is perfect for the kids and a great place to enjoy a book. The house feels like home and we really appreciated all the extras in the house. No other place provides all the little things that makes it feel like home. From the hand-soap, the paper towels, and even the "left-over" containers in the kitchen, it make the place move-in ready. You have truely thought of everything for a family vacation... right down to the sippy cups and toddler bed and toys tucked away in the closet. I love the book collection that keeps changing as I always find a good novel to read while I am there. I think we celebrated our 8th year with the Beach House this spring break and it has become our favorite spot to vacation. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in the BEST BEACH HOUSE in DESTIN!

Wow! What a great time. The house was wonderful. The private pool was a plus. My kids don't always want to sit at the beach and the pool was just right. The location was idea close to everything but also away from the traffic. The private beach access was nice. Having sand tools there for us helped us get a jump start on our vacation enjoyment. We didn't have to go to the store to pick them up. My teenagers loved the place as well as our little ones. I think this would also make a great couples get away as well!

Perfect 2nd Honeymoon

My husband and I enjoyed a perfect 2nd honeymoon as per "Doctor's Orders". Everything from the private street, to the private pool, to the easy walk to the beach, to the many local attractions was just what we needed to enjoy our time away from the kids. Next time we may bring the kids, but then again, we could always use a 3rd honeymoon!
