Condo is just as advertised. Clean, new and well apportioned. Quiet when closed up, but with highway noise when the lanai is open. Lauren, the owner, provides great service, with thorough instructions, directions and restaurant tips. Great West Maui location, on a fantastic beach and close to Lahaina. Bring your own beach towels. Washer and dryer mean you can pack light otherwise. Looking forward to a return visit.

Now have a chance to provide a quick review of the Honua Kai condo unit that we stayed in for 3 days in February. To the point: it was great! Easy booking and good contact with owner during the process. Condo was impressive and had all the ammenities and the resort itself was beautiful. Was the perfect size for me and my gf (any more than that and it would have been too many). Enjoyed the access to the resort and lazed by the pool more than on the beach. Duke's is also another great convenience with some very tasty entrees on the menu! All in all I would not hesitate to recommend this condo unit to any couple going to Kaanapali.

What a wonderful Hawaii vacation! From start to finish Lauren, the owner, was fantastic to work with. She responded to our initial inquiry very quickly and answered all our questions along the way. Even sent us directions and restaurant recommendations about a week before we left. As far as the unit, it was beautiful, clean, and a fully stocked kitchen. It is furnished with nice furnishings and top end appliances. The bed was very comfortable. The view of the mountains and sunrises were wonderful, we even spotted the brightest rainbows we have ever seen. We were given a code that we could use during our stay, so that made for easy access to the unit. No worries about key cards. Lauren also provided us with contact information for a local agency in case we had any concerns or problems. The unit was exactly what I expected from the pictures and descriptions on the VRBO website. There is a grocery store close by, so that made it convenient for food items. The Gazebo Restaurant for breakfast was well worth the 30 min. wait. The Westin Inn Polynesian Luau was fantastic! I would recommend catching a cab from the resort to the Luau, because of limited parking at the Westin. Nearby shopping center, Whalers Village, was a fun place to go for dining and shopping. In Lahaina, Kimo's Restaurant was wonderful!! For the golfers out there, my husband used Mauigolf.com for golf club rentals and arranged tee times. As far as the Honua Kai resort, it is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were there for a wedding so many of the wedding guest were also staying at the Honua Kai. Dukes restaurant on the property had delicious meals and a great meeting place for our friends. The only thing you do have to remember that you are renting from the owner and not from the property. We had to supply our own beach towels, other guest had towel cards to use for the pool. Lauren gave us a heads up that we would need beach towels, so that wasn't a big surprise. Also, we did not have access to free wireless internet outside of our room. There is free wireless internet in the room. You would not be disappointed in spending your next vacation at this property. We would go back there again if we ever have the opportunity.

beautiful place to stay and very welcoming by staff. Chase and Rainbows were very accomodating with the towels and extra blankets. Room was very clean and well maintained with everythiong in the kitchen required to make meals. The owner was extremely helpful with any questions we had. Really close to the beach. our favorite restaurant was Bubba Gump and Dukes. lots to do in Lahaina, great shopping too.

We stayed at this condo for 6 nights in Nov. The day we arrived the condo was ready and very clean. The kitchen is fully stocked, buy you do need to buy all the groceries including coffee and condiments. The store downstairs is pretty pricey but there is a supermarket just down the street where you can get everything. The resort is beautiful, although very WINDY! Duke's has good food and happy hour daily. Overall, we have no complaints. Lauren was very easy to work with and accommodating, we sure hope to visit again.

We loved our stay at Honua Kai! The room was great for a family of 4, and although it wasn't an ocean view unit, the view was amazing! We had our coffee on the lanai each morning looking at the various colors of the hillside, and the sun rise above it - gorgeous! The room was clean with updated appliances, and there was plenty of room for our family. As far as the property, we couldn't have asked for more! Our 2 boys (4 and 7) loved all 3 pools and explored every inch of them, including the waterslide and waterfalls. Price-wise, this unit was competitive with properties without all the amenities, it was a great deal. The owner was very attentive offering suggestions before we arrived and following up after we returned home. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and 15 month old son just stayed at this condo in August 2011 for one week and loved every minute of it! Aside from the beauty of Maui, this condo in Honua Kai was impeccable. Gorgeous property, great staff, clean/modern and super comfortable room. Working with the condo owner Lauren was also a very pleasant. She was prompt with all correspondence via email. The condo faced the mountain view and it was so beautiful to see the sunrise each morning. The pictures posted are very true to the look/feel of the room. It was plenty of room for 2 adults and 1 child. The resort itself was great. Many different sections of the pools to choose from, great dining options with Duke's and the cafe/grocery store downstairs. We got fresh fruit daily and the gelato in the cafe was superb. All around a great experience and I'd highly recommend staying at Honua Kai!

This was a wonderful condo we will definitely be back.I appreciate the fact the photos on-line do represent what the condo looks like (which was beautiful). We loved that there was such a great beach to swim and snorkel at.The kids loved the swimming pools, the grounds were beautiful. We thought the shower head was a bit strong. Maybe stock a few more blankets.

My family and I stayed in June 2011 for five days and had a wonderful time!! Lauren made us feel very welcome and were very easy to work with. The Unit is very nice as described in the pictures and equipped with everything you need. The pools were very beautiful and never too crowded which was nice because there were always chairs available. Snorkeling was awesome right in front of the condo. My daughter saw a lot of colorful fish, so we spent a lot of time on the beach. The perfect large lanai to enjoy a cup of coffee and to view stunning rainbow over the green Maui mountains is my best spot. We really enjoy the mountain view with beautiful rainbow . Wonderful vaction and definitely would like to return again!!

After 4 years of renting at the same condo up the beach we decided to try Honua Kai and we are glad we did! This unit is very nice with a huge lanai. Didn't miss the ocean view because we really were not in the condo much. We are used to renting a condo that has had "years" of rentals and lots of things "left behind" from previous renters for the beach like beach umbrellas, coolers etc. as well as items in the kitchen like spices, aluminum foil and the like. This condo did not have that despite being well stocked with dishes and appliances. Good to know for future renters especially if you like to utilize the condo to cook meals. Be prepared to buy ice if you are making drinks and using it for a beach cooler! While the high end appliances are nice, the ice maker couldn't keep up and we were buying ice by day #3. It is great to have the washer/dryer in the unit and there are plenty of bath towels. The resort itself is nice, especially having the 3 pools and the grilling areas. The market is nice especially if you need a snack/last minute item and are looking for a large selection of natural/organic products. We look forward to bringing our kids back as the pool here for the kids is much better than the previous property we have stayed at. My only complaint about Honua Kai is that when you rent via a private owner, you do not have access to the pool towels! You must pay a daily pool towel rental fee and get a card from the front desk. Then the card is marked with the number of towels you take to make sure you return the same amount. We bring beach towels so it was fine to wash them in the condo nightly, just wanted to pass this on as this was not something we were used to paying for previously.

We enjoyed the beautifully appointed condo at the new Honua Kai in North Kaanapali. The condo suited our family of three adequately. The finishes and decor are new and well chosen. The living area and kitchen were lovely and perfectly functional for a vacation, though a bit smaller than expected. The master bed was very comfortable and bath fine. The sleeper sofa was typical, not particularly comfortable. Nice touches- beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys, washer and dryer, nice Bosch appliances. The vrbo photos accurately depict condo interior. The "mountain" view faces the main highway, but being on the 9th floor, and with excellent sound insulation, we heard no road noise in the room and it was not a problem for us. Lauren was informative and more than happy to help with any tips or assistance. We chose her property because of the frequent reviews on vrbo and felt the condo would be a safe bet. The resort was amazing, excellent location and amenities! We were able to snorkel in calm waters right off the resort beach. The gourmet market on site is excellent with mostly organic food and ready to go gourmet options, though very expensive at $8.00 for a smoothie, etc...Duke's restaurant was nice, good service, food fine though not spectacular for us. We recommend Gazebo for breakfast in Napili Bay, 20 minutes north. Roy's has excellent food and service, on the expensive side but well worth the price. Loved Maui can't wait to return! Thanks Lauren for sharing your lovely vacation home:)

Our stay at the Honua Kai was incredible. The lux suite is gorgeous, clean and well equipped. Having beach chairs to use in the suite made the mornings of drinking coffee and whale watching on the beach even more enjoyable. The resorts amenities were amazing, Ania Market has anything you may have forgotten or run out of or if you just want a treat! Duke's restaurant had delicious food and affordable prices for those evenings we didn't feel like cooking. Lauren was awesome to work with, answering question after question we seemed to have. Thank you Lauren, we are looking forward to our next visit already!

The place was beautiful and less crowded then the other resorts. The pools were practically empty so you can relax and chill whenever you want. Great for the newly weds like us. DSL were free of charge =) so we were able to go surf the web for restaurants and activites to go to as our plans were dwarted by 3 days of rain.

My husband and Me stayed at Lauren's condo for our 25th anniversary. The condo was clean and perfect for my husband and I, we both loved the mountain view. The pools were great and we took advantage of them everyday except for the day it rained. The beach walk to black rock and whalers village is wonderful, it was one of the things we looked forwarded to doing daily. I would stay at this condo again and would recommend it to a friend. Lauren was great to work with and made it all very easy. There is a Times grocery store across the road with everything you need if you want to cook and the prices are not bad even compared to the Walmart by the airport.

My family just got back from a wonderful 12 day stay. I have an 11 year old and an 8 year old and they had an amazing time. This was their first beach vacation and they can't wait to get back to Hawaii again. All the pools were open and the beach was not crowded at all. I would recommend getting the family 'Aqua socks" as the rocks start pretty close to the shore line. My kids were able to snorkel right in front of the hotel. The grounds were beautiful and the staff was helpful when needed. We ate at Duke's on several occasions and were completely satisfied. You may see in some reviews that you can smell the sanitation facility from the hotel which was true in our case but it was definately NOT a major issue and was NOT constant. Only occasionally we would get a "wiff" which lended itself to endless " Who did that??" jokes. Lauren was great to work with and answered any and all questions we had. I would not hesitate to work with her again!!

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at the Honua Kai in room 928. Lauren was great to work with. She was attentive to our needs and always very responsive. The unit itself is wonderful. Clean, beautifully furnished, with everything you might possibly need including fast wireless internet which was a huge plus for us. Although the lanai faces the road, you forget it's even there with the view of the mountains and daily rainbows. The resort itself is immaculate. The pools are lovely, the grounds attended to, and the staff courteous. We loved coming home after a long day at the beach and lounging in the hot tubs. Dukes, the trendy restaurant on site, has great food although their service could use some improvements. The beach is a perfect stretch of white sand and calm waters. We even saw a pair of rays, which was such a treat! Overall, the experience was great and we would recommend staying here to others. We also appreciated the money we saved by going through a private owner rather than the hotel.

Honua Kai is beautiful and the grounds are well-kept. The new boardwalk is great for walking or running (albeit can get crowded at times). There were a surprising number of pools which were nice and warm, from one large pool to one with a water slide and one with water falls. Great for kids. The resort is very family friendly. Duke's Beach House grill is on-site which makes for an easy meal if you don't want to leave the resort. The condo is nice, well-appointed, and comfortable and even though it's on the highway side, there is almost no noise. Lauren was very helpful and made the rental process seamless. I would definitely recommend this resort and Lauren's condo.

We just got home (6/17) and had a wonderful stay. The pictures of the property don't lie, it is brand new, very clean, the people were very hospitible, and the location was great. The beach was great, great snorkleing bring your water shoes, there are a few lava rocks in the water. not just in front of this property but along much of Kaanapali in general, to our suprise, 1st trip to maui for us. you can find enough sandy areas to wade into though. A general store deli on sight had some tasty sandwiches, and a wide range of supplies. It was only a 5 minute or so car ride to Old Lahaina, and numerous shops and restaurants which it has to offer. We enjoyed our stay thouroughly, and would highly reccomend it.
