Dear Jim and Carol, I am so thankful we met on VRBO I didn't know it existed before a friend shared it with me. As many before have said your cottage is so clean and homey and peaceful, we don't want to leave, but obligations presses... You have been so thoughtful to provide not just needs, but desires. I enjoyed and read a couple of your books. Your directions were very good but maybe in the future, say more explicit when coming west on Rt 5 to look for "central" after some landmarks..Anyway we found you and so glad that we did! I wrote you a little poem after the storm we had the first day and night here.

As we prepare to leave for home, we give thianks to God for providing a restorative retreat setting and ask His blessing upon the Brotz family for sharing , providing this haven of rest for us. We have vacationed in Sarasota,Florida several times but have enjoyed this oasis even more than there. Precious time together as a couple...enjoying local flavor and activities, liked golf, birdwatching, beach walking, ice cream cones. we are leaving this place refreshed and untired to return to out busy jobs. Thanks so much to our hosts Jim and Carol. Place is wonderful!! the fishery has great smoked shrimp and every thing else. Barcelone Beach is amazing worth the time. Spot the eagle family! Golk and Caddy shack so much fun. Our 4 year old wants to live here. different sunset everyday.. Thanks for the best week in 2011!

This is our 2nd summer renting here and although hard to top our 1st experience, this years week some how did manage to do just that. There was much to enjoy, including daily sightings of eagles soaring majestically over the lake and cottage, humming birds galore, the huge variety of flowers and greenerey that surrounded us and metal detecting that produced an old silver medal dating to 1923..We will certainly be back...thanks to Jim and Carol once again for their hospitality and good nature when we were caught digging holes in their lawn as we searched for buried treasure!)

I don't know how a vacation can get much better than this. We just RELAXED! and with 2 boys that is saying a lot! We loved out time at the beach and we can't decide if we like the calm clear water or the days with the huge waves. boogies boards were a big hit this year again, great Beach Glkass. The beach was so clean this year. Day trips to Rock City, Midway State park ( the boys favorite) as niagara Aquarium. Great food at Pasta Pizza (Olean) and Steener's Pub ( Greenhurst) listening to Doc and Bill play Irish tunes! And again a trip to the Anchor Bar in Buffalo for the wings. the b est in Westfield was Calarco's for italian YUM!! The boys actually enjoyed the antique barn on RT 394 and even bought a bag of old coins. Had beautiful sunsets and bald eagle sightings. We spent 5 days in this beautiful home where everything was just perfect. With children ages 5-13 it is often hard to find something that makes everyone happy. In this perfect get-a-way, we had everything. The beach was wonderful and the "park" Carol graciously invited us to use in her backyard were perfect. Everything you could possibly need, and more, were available in the kitchen. We baked cookies, cakes and full course meals every night - not having to improvise due to not having what we needed. The bonfire pit in the back was a great time for smores at night after watching a beautiful sunset and swimming all day. The location was great, a short 1 1/2 drive to Niagra falls made for a great day trip. Fantastic host/hostess and warm, friendly people who truly offer a home away from home where everyone is 100% comfortable with everything you could possibly need.

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The quiet, peaceful view , the gentle lapping waters, and those few beautiful, sunny days where we sat in the sunshine enjoying all that God has made and provided. Have been here a few days...the most relaxing and fun we've had in a LONG TIME! Visiting the stores in Westfield,(the Emporium could take hours) with art shops, etc...carol shared some of the seeds from her beautiful gardens with me so I can have a "reminder" of our vacation here. There are some rocks out in the water about waist deep that are fun to sit on and just soak up the views with.

Usually on vacation at some point everyone is ready to get home..But as I write this a few hours before we leave I can honestly say we don't want to leave. We truly enjoyed our relaxing time here! We got hooked on searching for beach glass and bald eagle watching. the dinners (well breakfast and lunch too) on the deck and the beautiful sunsets were priceless memories my family will always cherish. Day trips to Buffalo Zoo, Niagara Falls, ate at the Anchor Bar where they 1st introduced the Buffalo Wing..YUM!! Thank You Jim and Carol for opening your vacation home to my family. We will never forget our vacation to western NY...

What a wonderful experience this has been! we played , relaxed, thrilled to beautiful sunsets! entertained: watched storms brew and loved every minute. While here we also visited the Sugar Shack, Lakewood along the lake if you like a quaint bookstore, farmers market and village experience Westfield, farmers Market and Crossroads where we stocked up on delicacies. Presque Isle Casino, visited southshore winery( very old, historic wine cellar with cool stories and friendly staff) All told our week was diverse and lovely and the Brotzes were fine "host" who ran a supply or two over when we ran out or needed things. We will certainly be back and share with even more friends next time.

This was great, we have stayed in several cottages along Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. This is the best this is a "we'll be back one" It was relaxing sitting on the deck watching the eagles soar by. Went to Chautauqua lake, stopped at Webbs. a nice place to have lunch on the deck. The goat milk fudge is great. drove to Bemus Point, they have a ferry to the other side of the lake. Your flowers are beautiful. Again you guys go all out to make it a great stay!

We had such a wonderful and relaxing time! we loved the wineries, browsing the antique shops but mostly just sitting on the deck and enjoying the beautiful view! We saw a bald eagle, a golden eagle, and a fox- being close to nature and the convenience of a samll town was really wonderful. We hope to come back again next year!

We had a great relaxing week. Really enjoyed seeing all the farm standa and mile after mile of the beautiful vineyards. We visited many wineries with South Shore above and beyond all the rest. Almost like being in Italy. We only had 2 nice sunsets and over all for late September it was exceptionally warm. Cooking in worked well for us. Everything we needed was available to us. we did have lunch at the diner in town one day ..Experience a :blast from the Past" Try the chocolate wines at Willow creek...the lady at Johnson Estate winery was very friendly and helpful..Small towns around here are great..thank you for a great time.

This is exactly what we had in mind for our family vacation. Very clean, quiet house. Plenty for our young boys to explore outside. We enjoyed eating out on the porch playing on the beach, having fires on the beach while watching the sunset. Niagara falls was just the right distance away to spend the day. We had a vonderful time.

Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage and property with us. We had a relaxing fun filled week of exploring the area. The evening by the fire listening to the lake with friends was priceless. Thank you for your company by the fire on our last night. This trip we focused on the local wineries. Out top Liberty Vineyards, Presque Isle, Vetter, Quincy Cellar, South Shore (beautiful) Arrowhead Wine Cellars. local Grub larry's Cantina, the wings were better than any @ the Buffalo Wing Fest...Ellicot brewing co great beer...food quality and presentation..Zebros did not like the food and the wait was unacceptable. Thank you once again for the great experience. We hope to see you again.

We really, really loved our stay! We come to Bournes Beach every year usually we camp at the KOA in Barcelona but this year we decide to try renting a cottage! Our kids loved it even throughthey stayed down the beach at their cousins cottage. They liked being able to come up the "stairway to Heaven" We appreciated being able to host a birthday party for our four year old on your wonderful deck and another cookout for my husbands grandmother. we came up for her 101st birthday.. Suggestions for other guests: larry's for wings and Jimmy for Pizza both in Westfield...Wegmans in Jamestown..kirk's Jewelery in fredonia for birthday presents! Thanks for everything!

We have stayed at several VRBO's and this one has been the cleanest and most accommodating. We expected to avail ourselves of the proximity of Chautauqua,but despite the inclement weather we preferred to stay here and at least watch the lake's moods rather than contend with the theme park atmosphere down there! and we managed to get the layaks out every day but one. Appreciated Dan's comments ( july 12 - July 15th) about restaurants but must add: Sugar Shack a must for a sunday pancakes but ther're not kidding when they recommend reservations...Sapore The type of gourmet food you dont usually find outside of a big city or Europe. Ellicotville Brewery (Fredonia location) suberb artison beers, good food too.. finally visit mr Budda at the White Tail ostrich Farm what a character (goat cheese selection too) Thanks Jim and Carol..A great Vacation!

We had an excellent visit short but great. Jim and Carol were great hosts and the house had great views. The sunsets at night were particularity nice!! We ate out a lot for the future guest here are our biased comments. Jacks (Barcelona) great purple cow...Zebros great views and party place at night...Calaracos Best food in area! must go ask for Vinnie...lakeview Hotel (Mayville) great view of Lake Chautauqua..Cabana Sam's (Irving NY) good food, wonderful beach view fun...larry's best wings in area

My wife, my mother and I had a great week. The scenery up here is so different from back in Virginia. thanks so much for making your cottage availabe so we could enjoy the gorgeous view. This is such a great place and you enabled us to experience something we otherwise would not have had. ..the view over the lake the cute town the library..walking the campus at Chautauaqua institiute lunch over looking Chautauqua Lake. Amish buggies all the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and beautiful flowers in the yard. Taste of Buffalo, watching late nite TV on the back porch.. We hope to be back next year wish you both the best..
