Nestled between the pristine sandy shore of Lake Michigan and a forest of cedar and pine lies a modest beach house only a few steps from the lake. Neat, clean, and filled with natural light the house offers lake views from almost every window. So close to the water that you feel as if you could reach out and touch it, Lake Michigan offers indescribable sun and moon rises that will leave a lasting impression. In summer, the days are full of sun and sand, exploratory walks on miles of coastline, and serene sounds of nature abound. The beach extends well into the water with an all sand bottom and sand bars stretching as far off shore as you can touch. Nights include bonfires, lapping waves, and shooting stars that seem to fall in to your lap. In winter, a family puzzle, books/movies, and the crackle of a wood fire make the snow a welcome guest. No matter the season, you will feel refreshed, renewed and longing to return.

Why the Owner Chose Oostburg
While visiting friends many years ago my wife and I fell in love with the little town of Oostburg. We were amazed to find a pristine beach combined with a north woods feel without having to drive 5 hours to Michigan or Door County. A few years later we had the opportunity to buy this house and couldn't resist. It is our favorite place to be.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The feel of the ocean without the salt. The location reminds many of Nantucket. A walker's paradise, one can comb miles of sandy shoreline to your heart's content. There is a great sense of privacy here since the house is located on a private lane. One seldom sees many other people during the week.
Located inside the Golf Clubhouse, Blackwolf Run Resturant is excellent for lunch or dinner.
Home of the 2010 PGA Championship Whistling Straits Course Irish Course
Well known for their wood-fired, personal sized, flat bread pizza. Same proprietor as Stefano's.
Organic market. Meats and produce locally grown on sustainable farms. Good for breakfast and lunch. Great idea for picnic provisions.
Inexpensive and as casual as it gets. Good pizza and even better fried chicken. They deliver!

My family and I (2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 grandparents) had 3 wonderful nights at this beach front home. Having spent the summers of my childhood on the shores of Lake Michigan, this house was a wonderful retreat back in time. The house has character and everything one would need, including its wonderful outdoor areas. The yard. The beach. The fire pit area. The outdoor shower. You'll find yourself walking the beach for miles. Chatting with neighbors. And letting everything float away on the sounds of the crashing waves. The huge table is perfect for big family meals and the kitchen is well equipped for making them. We'll be back next year for sure. Thank you.

We were in town for a family reunion and wanted a nice place to stay on the beach. This house is terrific! It had everything we could have possibly needed in the kitchen, bathrooms, and especially down at the beach. Lots of toys and chairs. We had a fire down on the beach every night. There is a very comfy king bed in the master bedroom and we fell asleep every night listening to the waves. We had a lot of relatives in town and had a big fish fry one night. We had 22 people for dinner and there was seating for everyone! The house is just real comfortable! The area is very quiet and you can walk for miles on the beach. There is a nice little grocery store and great bakery in town and 5 minutes to the north is Sheboygan with lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. The owners were great to work with too. Anytime I had a question or concern, they got back to us very quickly and there weren't a million little notes all over the house telling us not to do something or use something like in previous rentals we have stayed in. Some of our family lives within an hour of this house and have talked about renting it for themselves. My family definitley hopes to come back to stay here again real soon!

Lovely home with a beatiful view of Lake Michigan. The deck and yard are well maintained with flowers and deck furniture - it is a peaceful area. The house was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owner was great to work with and helpful with my questions. We enjoyed walking the beach and made several fires in the fire ring, lots of fun! We visited nearby attractions in Milwakee and Green Bay. My 2 children came from Chicago to stay with us - it was a nice get away for them. My husband and I and our 2 adult sons were very comfortable in the house. We would recommend this property for a peaceful get away and hope to return soon!

This property lacks numerous basic features that should be required of any rental house. There is no air conditioning or ceiling fans, no window treatments anywhere, no microwave, and no toaster oven. The fans provided were very dirty and we had to purchase fans to stay cool. The door to the back deck was very difficult to open and close and allowed flies in. The only bathroom with a shower was adjoining the master bedroom and the door did not close completely so privacy was lacking. The beach was beautiful and there were plenty of beach toys, chairs, and towels provided.
Owner response:To ensure that our guests have a wonderful experience during their stay we will no longer make exceptions to the occupancy limit. In hindsight the party should have rented the detached garage apartment in addition to the house which would have accomodated their party of 10 more comfortably. The guests' desire to save money and our desire to be accomodative and flexible backfired. While we will take a couple of their points under advisment in our continuing effort to enhance the property, it is apparent that these guests' insistance on exceeding the suggested occupancy combined with the atypically hot/humid weather was the primary cause of the poor review.

We spent a wonderful and relaxing week at this clean and comfortable home. It accommodated five adults and two small children perfectly. (We did bring a portable crib for an infant.) Best of all was the lovely, landscaped outdoor area, which included a wood deck, stone patio, and a wide, beautiful beach that was perfect for our small children. You can walk for miles on this beach, yet we felt like it was our private property. The sand was clean and beautiful, and the beach slopes gently into the water. We were lullled to sleep every night by the sounds of the waves, and the sunrise over the lake was gorgeous. There is ample parking and storage here. Oostburg is a sweet little town with a grocery store, bakery, sub shop, and pizza restaurant that serves a good and ample buffet--perfect for families. Sheboygan is just minutes away and has many stores, so you can get anything you need. A state park is just north of the area also. We are eager to return and explore this area.

We loved it here. The house was very comfortable and it was lovely to hear the waves from the master bedroom. The yard and the perennial garden are absolutely beautiful. Best of all is the beach--you can walk for miles either way. It is a wonderfully relaxing place.

Absolutely beautiful location. Our 2-year-old had a blast playing in the sand and on the beach just outside the house. And everyone enjoyed star gazing and marshmallows by the fire.
