Situated at 4325-feet elevation just outside of Linville, Gylen sits isolated on the side of a mountain with a breathtaking view of the western face of Grandfather Mountain - just three miles away as the bird flies. July high temperatures average a comfortable 73 degrees F.
Rocking chairs on the front porch are excellent for relaxing and reading or just admiring the Grandfather Mountain profile. With the telescope or binoculars you can watch people walking the famous "Mile High Swinging Bridge."
Gylen is located 0.3 miles up a private gravel road, giving you privacy and relaxation, yet located close to major area attractions.
Nearby are Linville (four miles), Newland (four miles), Grandfather Mountain (six miles), Blue Ridge Parkway (seven miles), Tynecastle (eight miles), Sugar Mountain (ten miles), Banner Elk (13 miles), Linville Falls (14 miles), the Cone Center (19 miles) Boone (20 miles), and Blowing Rock (22 miles via the Parkway).
Solid cedar siding, solid oak floors, solid pine paneling, and vaulted ceilings welcome you to a warm comfortable setting. A new plasma tv is in the living room, equipped with satellite tv, complimentary movie channels and a dvd player.
The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and its own complete bath. Another bedroom has two twin beds and another a double-size bed. A full bath is between bedrooms number two and three. A "Courdaroy" beanbag opens to give another queen-size mattress. Three LL Bean dog beds are also available for a pet-friendly vacation.
The lower deck, located under the front porch, has two Hatteras rope hammocks in spring and summer. From both hammocks you are facing the Grandfather Mountain profile.
A new, two (maybe 3!) person spa (hot tub) is on the lower porch facing the Grandfather Mountain profile.
