Decidedly removed from television and computer, and stocked with games and a piano, this is THE place to connect or re-connect with yourself and your guests. Mountain views are lovely and there is a large field through the woods that was once an apple orchard, where you'll find cows roaming from May through December. You will most likely get a visit at the back door from the friendly yellow lab who lives across the holler.
Glider and rocker on front porch and Adirondacks on the back deck. Lovely winter views and in summer it feels like you are nestled in trees with delightful of bird songs and fresh mountain breeze. Back deck has a grill and gives views of the pasture and treetops.
ABOUT SALUDA:
Saluda began as a railroad town and you feel that you've stepped back in time 100 years. It has just the right amount of current touches to offer charm and comfort and still keep it's original flavor. The folks are warm and friendly and offer a taste of the past with family-owned country stores and antiques shops. Sprinkle in galleries, a bakery, a wine shop, charming gift shops, restaurants and a local playground, and everyone will find something to remember downtown by.
SHOPPING & ARTS:
These hills are alive with music! The Purple Onion restaurant features live music. On the weekends you can usually find live bluegrass music nearby. Saluda and surrounding area are very arts-minded with quaint Hendersonville 15 minutes away brimming with galleries & shops. Flat Rock Playhouse is on the way to Hendersonville. Asheville is another 15 minutes north.
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES:
If hiking, fishing or water activities are your interest, there is Orchard Lake Campground, a short walk or drive from your log cabin stay. Day/family passes are available to enjoy zip line, fishing, swimming, canoeing, paddle boats and mini golf. Green River Outfitters and Curtis Wright Outfitters can get you set up to enjoy fly-fishing and tubing on the Green River. Keith's Bike Shop can outfit you to cycle through the mountain roads, if you are an avid cyclist. Hiking to Pearson's Falls is a short and lovely hike that is a perfect low key adventure for kids and adults.
RELAXING:
If your idea of a get-away is ...getting away... then take a nice long bubble bath in the spa soaking tub and cozy up with a book in your 'jammies' in front of the fireplace or on the porch glider to the sounds of nature. A gorgeous way to reset and recharge one's spirit! Tickle the ivories? There's a piano!

Our family loved this cabin as a base for our exploration of the foothills area of WNC. We were totally enamored with all Saluda had to offer, including some great restaurants and beautiful natural wonders, plus I thought the history of the Saluda grade was pretty nifty, just walking on the tracks outside of town made me feel even more connected to this wonderful little part of the world. The cabin felt like home the whole time we were there, from the serenity of the deck in the morning and evening (including the turkeys roaming through the backyard) to the comfy beds and couches as we planned our next day's adventures. Jill was so wonderful to deal with, and we are already discussing returning to the area the first chance we get. This cabin was so big, we will bring friends and family next time!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The house is beautiful and the kitchen is so well equipped. We had a lovely time. A word of warning, few cell carriers work up on the mountain and you won't have any ability to communicate until you come down into Saluda, but once you've adjusted to that little fact, it really is much nicer. No one can contact you! The people are so wonderful. I had a littlel mishap, pulled over to the side of the road upon first arriving, didn't realize that the side of the road wasn't solid and was really the top of a very steep hill and almost went over. Some locals stopped, took me to where we could call a tow truck from Hendersonville, waited with me and were in general wonderful! You can get into Saluda proper in 5 minutes and the Purple Onion is to die for! The food and entertainment were superb! We drove to Hendersonville twice and it only took about 20 minutes or so and one day we went into Asheville to the Spa at Biltmore and that was a very relaxing, easy drive and the spa we highly recommend! And I can't say enough about Jill and how accomodating and easy to deal with she is. You have a lovely home and we thank you for sharing it with us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My new husband and I returned from our Mexican honeymoon early due to illness. Last minute we decided to escape to Saluda for the remainder of our time off. Jill (the owner) was very fast to respond to our inquiry and was flexible accommodating our same day vacation request. When we arrived at the property we were pleasantly surprised by the new cabin and the amenities. It was very clean and there were instructions for all the necessities. Everything we needed for a relaxing weekend was there, including the most important aspect, LOCATION! The cabin is secluded enough, but at the same time is within very quick driving distance to downtown. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and next time we return to Saluda will be sure to stay here!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Our family (dogs included) very much enjoyed our stay. The cabin is extremely comfortable, and just secluded enough to feel that you are truly away from it all. Would highly recommend, and already planning a return visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, pet owners.

Our family had such a wonderful time in this beautiful log cabin!! From the time we rolled up the driveway and saw the cabin and its surroundings, we knew we had found a prize!! Lovely and peaceful wooded setting and the cabin was so clean and beautifully decorated!! Our teenagers loved their rooms and all the games! My husband loved cooking in this gorgeous kitchen!! The large back deck as well as the front porch were perfect spots to curl up with a book and enjoy the sounds of nature, and our evenings were filled with laughter and good memories roasting marshmellows and playing cards. Visits to nearby waterfalls and playing in mountain creeks, along with the lovely downtown Saluda, filled with great little shops, ice cream, best BBQ ever, and music and fun at the Purple Onion made this mountain vacation one we intend on repeating!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

What a joy to inhabit a rental that strikes all the right notes in tune with the beauty of Saluda, NC and its neighboring mountain retreats. I hate kitschy clutter in rentals and this rental boasts a modern sleek kitchen, great log cabin interior and a focus on comfort in quality of beds and seating and baths. Our visit coincided with a rare heat wave but this house if full of great a/c and generous with plenty of fans and was so refreshing. The front porch provided us with some great memories and the master King room with soaking tub is lovely. Upstairs provides privacy in two other bedrooms and there is bedding galore for your guests. We are busy recommending this house to our Furman U graduate friends who are often looking for a place to hole up as we age up and come to the occasional reunion on campus. Saluda has easy access to the now chic downtown Greenville in SC, as well as access to adorable Saluda, Asheville, Flat Rock and Brevard and to the wonderful incomparable Pisgah Forest and its highlights. Attended a Beethoven concert at the Brevard Music Festival while "Sleeping in Saluda". This house is an easy drive from Charlotte in particular...someone from Charlotte joined us. Ditto great distance from Atlanta..one of our guests came up from there. Saluda has a special charm that money can't buy. Dinners out in Saluda were quite excellent with local produce featured heavily (Purple Onion also had some very good evening music offerings). The house is stocked with games and places to detox from your busy life. You can easily stay busy for a week just exploring the region with Saluda as your home base. Gracious host is very responsive and welcoming. We shall return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We were very pleasantly surprised at how nice the accomadations were. The Cabin was a home away from home while providing both privacy and at the same time closeness to all the mountain recreation. We will be back again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Truly the most beautiful, gracious and well equipped vacation home we have ever rented. We hated to have to leave this spot but came home with happy memories of a wonderful gathering with our Son and friends from Chicago. The piano was the icing on the cake with the works of Mozart, Chopin, Bach and others sweetly filling the air up to the timbered beams. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home. The location and proximity to so many pretty mountain spots was ideal. We hope we will be able to return one day!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Why the Owner Chose Saluda:
Saluda is a gentle, charming place, that is enough 'away from it all' to feel like you've switched gears. In reverse, it's surrounded with plenty to choose from in all directions! It's really the town's people that make it. Everyone is so hospitable. Saluda has an affection for the arts and for dogs, something we are very affectionate about too! It's a refreshing change of pace.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We love to bring friends up and paint, play music, read by the fire and explore the towns. The kids explore outside and make fairy huts, pick blackberries in the summer, go to the campground to swim, fish, do the zip line, and in the evenings they play games and make up plays. I always love to pop into Fresh Market in Hendersonville and take my time making a recipe I've been wanting to try. We love having a piano to play and my musician husband says the acoustics are great for his guitar. For me, it's just a way to change the channel of a busy existence, and catch my breath. It always feels like I've been away longer than I have.
