The Crazy Mountains, a part of the Rocky Mountains, are one of the most peaceful and natural places on earth. Just on the best spot in this paradise we’ve placed our cabin for guests looking for a very special getaway home. The Crazy Mountain Hideaway Cabin is located in a beautiful mountain valley surrounded by healthy firs and Aspen trees. Only a few minutes away, Amelong Creek provides an ideal location to hang loose and enjoy its cool refreshing water. This untouched natural beauty presents you with an opportunity to experience wildlife as you’ve seldom seen it. Elk and deer roam the valley, often within a few meters from the cabin. The cabin lies at about 6420 ft.
The secluded cabin is nestled about four miles from the original old ranch house of the Hailstone Ranch, one of the oldest and most established cattle ranches in the Yellowstone Country, extending over 11,500 acres. For guests who want a quiet and peaceful dream vacation where they can enjoy the freedom to roam almost limitless expanses of the big-sky country, the cabin provides the ultimate retreat for rest and relaxation. It is a place where individuals who value their privacy can kick back, undisturbed by the all-too-common hectic of other vacationers.
The Crazy Mountain Hideaway Cabin is Montana’s TOP ranch cabin, off the beaten path. A vacation in our comfortable Western Style Cabin will capture your own true spirit. After a couple of days you will be hearing differently. You’ll tune to more tranquil sounds like the quiet rustle of the wind through the trees and the accompanying whisper of wildlife stealing through the undergrowth. Your horizons shift, you see things differently and you are able to view important decisions from a new and clearer perspective.
A vacation in the Crazy Mountain Hideaway Cabin stays in your heart forever. Life can be great, off the beaten path. Catch the good times in life.
Because of the natural mountain roads you need a car with ground clearance and 4-wheel-drive.
Due to the altitude, access to the cabin is limited during the winter time.
PRIVATE ACCESS TO THE BIG TIMER CREEK. ABOUT 2.5 MILES. FREE FISHING. For hunters: ask for the trespassing hunting fee.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A VERY SPECIAL WEDDING, HONEYMOON, WEDDING PROPOSAL OR ANNIVERSARIES SPOT, do not pass up our Crazy Mountain Hideaway Cabin and CM Ranchcabin! The cabins are the perfect romantic getaways.

Why the Owner Chose Big Timber
Annie’s story from Robert Redford’s film “The Horse Whisperer” inspired us to offer our private cabin to people who want to relax completely. The Hailstone Ranch can be seen in Redford’s film. It is the backdrop scene in which Annie is on her way to Tom Booker’s ranch, where they meet for the first time.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Lying in the Crazy Mountains at a height of 6520 ft., the story how the cabin came into being is quite simple. It was the strong desire of stressed-out individuals seeking an untouched retreat in Montana’s natural wilderness. They wanted to be free and sought a positive counterpoint to their hectic professional lives. The founders reflected on a number of factors when looking for the perfect location for this cabin: • Isolated but easy to reach • A fresh source of water to provide comfort and amenity • Surrounded by strong a healthy trees to preserve a comfortable interior temperature in the heat of the summer • A sunny porch with an unobstructed breathtaking view • The best place for outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, fishing on private land and not too far away from the Yellowstone River, cross-country skiing and hunting. • Sneak-away days reading and relaxing on the quiet porch outside
the cabin is located about 4 miles away from the new ranch house and about 19 miles from Big Timber. You will need a car with ground clearance and 4-wheel-drive because of the rough mountain road.Best

All we can say is WOW! and THANKS! Our stay was perfect-the location of both cabins are unbelievably breathtaking and so peaceful! The right place to relax and enjoy life. The furniture is unique, very special and so cozy! The cabins are more like a home. We always love to sit on the deck and watch all the differant types of wildlife. There are great walking trails nearby, private fishing access to the Big Timber Creek with its beautiful waterfall, scenic panoramas everywhere! Barbara and Lee really take a lot of care to provide a welcoming environment! We cannot wait to come back next year!
Owner response:Thank you very much! It is very important for us that our guests have a great time in the cabins and on our property. Barbara & Lee

Thank you for another memorable trip to The Crazy Mountain Hideaway Cabin. Your kindness makes one feel right at home on your wonderful ranch. This year two new people came out with me to the cabin. When I drove back to the cabin and parked my truck, they both got out and just stood at the gate in disbelief of how wonderful the cabin was! After I opened the door and they went in, one of my friends said, it was like being at a 5 Star Resort and if could come back next year. Thanks again for all, Lee and Barbara.

We enjoyed our time at the cabin very much! It was so much fun being way out away from everything with just us. We loved the scenery, the coziness and just having our time together to play board games and read. We all agreed when we were driving away that we would love to return for another stay. Thanks so much for sharing your ranch.
