This is by far one of the best at Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina. It's one of the few corner-unit two-level villas, and it is in the "E" building, where the off-shore breezes blow across Pillsbury Sound over two wrap-around decks and into the villa. As you can see from the pictures it has been fully upgraded by an interior designer with granite counters, fine art work, large flat-panel TVs, BOSE sound, teak and rustic furniture. Sapphire Beach is one of the most beautiful beachfront condo locations under the U.S. flag. You'll find plenty of descriptions of the environment at Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina on the numerous web sites featuring this unique property. If you've never been to Sapphire Beach here's some data points:
- There is only ONE property that is located right on Sapphire Beach beach/ocean front. It is Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina (SBRM). There are other properties nearby that are not right on the beach, such as Sapphire Village and Crystal Cove. Make sure you know which property you reviewing.
- SBRM consists of 6 buildings (A-F), five of which (A-E) are on the beach. F is on the marina.
- EVERY unit at SBRM is a studio or one bedroom. The first level and second level are single level "suites", with the top two floors being double (two-level) "villas" with almost twice the floor space as the suites. In the two-story villas, the bedroom is upstairs with a bath, and the living room, kitchen, and bath down stairs. Some villas have two beds in the bedroom or a convertible couch/futon in the living room, but all units are basically one bedroom. With each building being 10 units wide, there are 120 studios and 60 villas.
- The corner units have wrap-around decks/balconies with an extra set of sliding glass doors on the side (two wrap-around decks for the corner villas).
- No pets are allowed in any units at SBRM
- Most of the units at SBRM are individually owned. The furnishings and conditions of the units can vary widely. Some have been significantly upgraded while others are in basic "rental" state.
- This unit is a spacious, significantly upgraded, corner unit, villa where you can leave the wide sliding glass doors open and listen to the ocean all night long.
- Sprint and AT&T (Cingular) consider the U.S. Virgin Islands to be just like the mainland, so there are no roaming or long distance fees if you are their customer, whether calling locally or back to the states. Sprint and AT&T data cards work just fine as well.
- Public WiFi (fee) is available throughout the property
- There are plenty of grocery stores and a K-Mart (we even have a Home Depot now!)on island, as well as scores of restaurants and bars.
If you've made the decision to vacation at Sapphire Beach, the reasons to pick THIS villa are style, comfort, location, location and location. The E building units offer an experience like being on your own private beach (see the property maps). On the beach, steps to the pool and marina but away from the noise of lobby and more crowded sections. I am originally from California and started vacationing in the caribbean several years ago because of the ideal scuba diving conditions - avg 80 degrees air AND water year round! My job allowed me to live anywhere I had telephone and internet access, so I moved to St. Thomas in 2000, bought this villa and a yacht, and I'm still here.
