We stayed for eight days, from April 24 to May 2, 2012, at Royal Marais on rue Charlot and could not have been more pleased with the apartment, the location and the service provided by Louis. We really hated to leave, which was made much easier by Louis coordinating the services of a car and professional driver to pick us up immediately in front of the apartment. It’s a great area with lots of activity, yet the apartment is nearly silent. It’s also close to the many attractions in that part of Paris. We walked several times to the Seine and Isle de la Cite. Place de la Republic is also very close and an easy walk. Louis delivered what he promised, and we would be pleased to deal with him in the future.

We spent ten wonderful days in this lovely apartment, situated in the Marais District, dining out some of the time and cooking in the well equipped kitchen other times. The apartment was in a quiet courtyard, just steps away from the lively cafes and shops, where we could indulge in all things French. Louis, our most gracious concierge, was available at all times for any help (a slight hot water problem) we needed. His charm, most certainly added to our enjoyment of the apartment. I would, unequivocally, recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a true Parisian experience.

we stayed 5 days in this wonderfull apartment and enjoyed every moment of it. The location is superb as well as the hospitality. The apartment is newly renovated indeed and we simply loved the little terrace. But the real pleasure was to deal with Louis, he is very precise and very helpfull. Would definetely reccomend it to our friends and family. And.... looking forward to staying here again!

We stayed here for five nights in Feb 2012, and we're very pleased. The apartment was as advertised, in a wonderful location, close to everything, but quiet to return to after a long day sightseeing. Louis met us upon arrival, checked on us during our stay, and made himself available at all times. We would definitely stay here again.

We travel to Paris frequently and it's a pleasure to deal with Louis and stay at the Royal Marais apartment or any other apartment he manages. We have been renting from Louis for several seasons now, and he is our "go to" whenever we require a place in Paris. The apartment is located in the lively and enjoyable neighborhood of the Marais, is accessible to all the sights and sounds of Paris that you will ever need to see, and very close to the metro. We love the location of the apartment with it's close proximity to Le Marche des Enfants Rouge, Poilane, shopping, metro Republique, incredible bakeries and restos. We would never consider staying anywhere else ! Louis consistently delivers a high level of customer service and is a very gracious host. He ensures the rental steps are smooth, easy and you will be left feeling confident during every step of the process.

Hello Louis, We were delighted by the warm welcome as well as the charming apartment, well situated in the Marais and nevertheless very calm/quiet. It is with pleasure that we will share this address with our friends. The next time, we will be back to in Spring or Summer in order to take advantage of the small open- air square.... Best Wishes..

We had a wonderful stay here. The apartment was very compfortable, well equipt and bright. Its location is fantastic with all the great shops and bars of Le Marais on your doorstep. The owner was very accomodating and gave very good recommendations. One of which was the delicious Cafe Charlot on the corner where we went at some point every day during our stay. Cannot recommend it enough.

Louis, many thanks for hospitality and warmth. Wonderful stay, GREAT APARTMENT IN FABULOUS AREA OF MARAIS. Easy access to other area via metro ( République and Filles du Calvaire ) and everyhting you could want within steps of the apartment. I recommend " CAFE DES MUSEES " on rue de Turenne for dinner, market, local shops for great take out and quiet evening at home after long days of walking and exploring Paris....Would defenitly stay here again !

We spent ten days in the Marais apartment and loved it! The location is great, literally just steps from Rue de Bretagne with its multitude of cafes and specialty food shops. We loved the area: central enough to easily access the museums and other sights, but removed enough that we were not surrounded by Americans. It really is a Parisian neighborhood. While Rue de Bretagne is bustling day and night, a few steps back takes you into a quiet and pretty courtyard, and then into this charming, comfortable and quiet ground floor apartment. (No climbing flights of stairs at the end of a day of walking around Paris!) The patio area was also a very nice feature; we spent a lot of time out there. Louis was very helpful in arranging our stay via multiple emails answering all our questions. He was away in Greece when we arrived, but arranged for Fabienne to meet us at the apartment and show us around; she was quite nice. Louis stayed in touch by email, recommending a wonderful restaurant (Ambassade d'Auvergne), and when he returned we spent a very pleasant evening with him. He helped us to plan for the next leg of our trip in the Loire Valley and wrote out routes and restaurants that he recommended. A great place to stay in Paris!

My wife and I stayed in this gorgeous apartment in September 2011. It is set off a quiet courtyard in the Marais, close enough to stroll everywhere, but sufficiently removed to avoid being swamped by other tourists like us. It is a quiet, very comfortable ground floor apartment in great condition. There’s a well-equipped kitchen for home cooked meals, but it’s surrounded dozens of wonderful eateries. It has new timber floors, comfortable furniture in the lounge room, internet, laundry and a terrific little courtyard for a drink in the early evening. It’s a clean, splendid bolthole. We’ve always adored the Marais, and believe it’s the best place from which to wander into Paris. Finally Louis, who runs the apartment is as helpful and efficient as he is charming. It would be churlish to ask for more; give this one very serious consideration.

After the huzzle and noise of the day it was always a relief to return to the apartment. It is very quiet in there and we liked the natural decorating style with the design details. With a shopping mission this time, we didn't feel like going to another area for dinner in the evening. Too tired for that ! But, fortunatly, there are many nice restaurants nearby, and good bakeries for breakfast too. We felt safe here, we felt a little like Parisians and we definitly feel like coming back ! Mom and daughter.

We really enjoyed the whole week there. The apartment was firstly very quiet, which for me was very important due to my health issues. This made me relaxed and comfortable, knowing that I can rest there when needed. The position was excellent, in what seemed a great part of Marais. And we enjoyed the Marais a lot, as well as everything else we saw. We walked a lot, and every day was special. Now I am making my list for what to see next time!! You have been truly wonderful Louis. Thank you so much. Very kind, prompt and organized. I wish you all the best in your venture with the apartment rentals. I am sure your customers will every time be very pleased, as we were. Regards, Cleo

I took my daughter to Paris for the first time in July 2011 and rented this property for 10 days. At first appearance, the apartment is in a wonderful neighborhood, very well equipped and a lovely patio. However, starting the first night there were rats crawling in from the patio, then crawling on the couch, under the refrigerator, and the final straw was in the back bedroom under the bed into one our suitcases. We moved to a friend's apartment for the last couple nights. After all of this, the owners refused to reimburse me for the 2 nights I did not stay at the apartment. There are many lovely apartments for rent around Rue de Bretagne, but I would not recommend this one.
Owner response:Disgruntled person not in good faith. She only spoke to me about this problem 2 days before her departure. The animal was a mouse and not rats. Moreover, when purchasing the product against mouse, I was told by the shop owner that some other apartments in the area are having this same temporary problem. I offered to reimburse her for one night, but she didn't want to accept the money. Indeed, it is possible to occasionally have mice in apartments located in the city. Pesticides were used after her departure and there have been no mice since then. PLEASE REFER TO REVIEWS POSTED BY RENTERS USING APARTMENT AFTER YOU. I am sorry if that put a damper on your stay, since all of the services provided to you and your friends were appreciated. That is the quality of service that I provided to her. Here are her words: Louis went above and beyond to make our vacation in France a memorable one. Not only did he arrange tours and private transportation for our trips to Reims (two fabulous champagne houses) and the beaches and museums of Normandy, but he personally accompanied our three families and provided very informative history on the areas. He was there for us for any questions regarding our accomodations and even made all of our restaurant reservations for us... He went out of his way to meet me upon our arrival to personally deliver our itinerary and walk us through the apartment and how to work everything from the wireless connections, to the washer/dryer... He is a very friendly person who was also wonderful with the five children traveling with us. I would highly recommend him to anyone needs services in Paris and France. Thank you Louis! We hope to return soon and see you again! Thank you for all of your assistance. All the best to you, Kristin Beard King

We stayed for 5 nights at the rue Charlot apartment. It was wonderful. Louis was very careful and precise in handling all the payments and deposits and arranging for our arrival and departure. The apartment is perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 boys, 11 and 13. The best part is that it's in the middle of Paris, but it's very quite. We could not hear any street noise at all. It was great for me since I'm a light sleeper. The rooms are clean and has a very spacious bathroom by European standards. The bed was comfortable. The cloth washer is very convenient. There are several market, bakery, wine shops and cheese store, and take out food places all within 2 blocks. My boys also loved the PS3 station in the house (helps when they want a little down time from the heavy dose of museums and cathedrals during the day). Metro is only 5 minutes walk from the house (Filles du Calvaire). THE BOOKING PROCESS WENT VERY SMOOTHLY. I found Louis on VRBO and had many questions initially since it's a big leap of faith to send so much money to a total stranger. LOUIS WAS VERY NICE AND PATIENT IN ANSWERING ALL MY QUESTIONS VIA PHONE AND EMAIL. We feel lucky to be able to find such a welcoming home away from home in Paris. Thanks Louis for making a vacation specially memorable. Many thanks Ming

Bonjour Louis, We had a great stay at the apartment. We thought the apartment was in a great location and was nice and quiet. You were very welcoming and gave us a very thorough induction to the property. We really appreciated your quick responses to our emails prior to our arrival and the prompt return of our security deposit after we left. We will be recommending this apartment to family and friends at home. Many thanks, Laura, Geoff and Noah

Royal Marais is a fantastic apartment: good size, charming terrace, very clean and new, amazing location (near everything) and quiet at the same time. The fact of beeing a first floor really look like a house in the middle of Marais. We were four girls and it fits perfectly. Louis is also very nice! I really recommend! Best time ever in Paris.

I spent 2 wonderful weeks in the Rue Charlot apartment and it was perfect in every way: great location, very quiet, extremely well equipped and a very useable outdoor terrace. I have stayed in many Paris apartments and Sophie’s apartment is the very best. Everything went smoothly thanks to Louis’ faultless management. I can’t wait to return to Rue Charlot and have recommended it to many friends. Thanks again Louis and hope to see you soon.

Thank you very much Louis for organizing a wonderful stay in Paris. The Royal Marais apartment was a home away from home. Not only was the apartment itself well appointed, comfortable and clean, but the location was fantastic. We had the choice of three Metro stops within walking distance and the convenience of being two steps away from Rue de la Bretagne made us feel like we were a part of the neighbourhood and not tourists. As for the apartment, we did not use it to it's full potential, but we easily could have made all our meals in the kitchen, all utensils were well stocked. And we really loved the rain shower head in the bathroom. And to you, Louis, personally, thank you for your organization and information and especially for being available for any questions we had. We would like to thank you for making us feel so welcome at 43 rue Charlot. The apartment was very comfortable and certainly met our expectations. We thought the location was excellent and loved exploring the Marais as well as doing all the touristy things. We visited both restaurants that you recommended and had outstanding food on both occasions (I enjoy cooking and am very interested in food), so thank you for your wonderful suggestions. We are currently in Amboise and enjoying a more relaxed pace after the hustle and bustle of Paris. Louis, a big thank you once again for all your help in making our stay in Paris so enjoyable.

True to our word we returned this year to Rue Charlot apartment which we enjoyed so much one year earlier. This apartment is very well appointed and positioned only two steps from the lively Rue de Bretagne with quality providores and the Enfants Rouge market. This is authentic Paris, not the touristy areas of the central Marais and left bank. Although on the ground floor the apartment receives good light from the small terrasse, and is quietly tucked away at the rear of the building. The kitchen and bathroom are very modern and stylish. Louis who manages the apartment is very obliging and helpful. We shall return!

We would like to thank you sincerely for your very thoughtful help and assistance whilst we were staying at the lovely apartment in Rue Charlot. As you are aware the apartment came highly recommended to us by David Whiting and I can say that we were not disappointed. The apartment is beautifully positioned , quiet and beautifully appointed. There are lots of attractions within easy walking distance or alternatively several Metro stations are nearby together with all the eating and drinking venues one could possibly hope for. We are very hopeful of returning next year and we will certainly recommend the apartment and your services to family ,friends and colleagues. Bon chance Louis. John and Gabrielle O'Connor.

I stayed at this beautiful little apartment for a week and didn't want to leave. The flat was better than the pictures. The little patio was the best - we ate outside most nights, bought wonderful fresh produce from the markets just to the right, Le Marches des Enfant Rouge is great - there is everything you could possibly want in this neighborhood- food, shopping - you can easily anonymously blend in with the locals. Louis rocked - he was wonderful at following up and arranging an early taxi for our departure..Would come back in a heart beat. Marnie from Austin.

Having travelled to Paris frequently for work, I have to say that this apartment made our stay an extremely memorable one. The apartment is in an excellent location. Our favourite neighbourhood is the Marais and this apartment is in the BEST area of the 3 arrondisment. It is in walking distance of all the places you want to be, and is very close to the Metro. The neighborhood is charming, with local shops, cafes and markets all a few steps away. Our favourites were Rose Bakery and the market, Les Enfants Rouge. Louis was extremely hospitable and provided good customer service to my rental request. He provided good communication, follow-up and personally greeted us upon arrival. He gave me confidence in choosing to rent with him. The apartment was extremely clean and exactly as described! We were pleasantly surprised to see that the apartment was larger than the photos. It is a very good size for a Paris apartment! The apartment is very quiet and cozy. The amenities are very modern and the kitchen was well equipped. Merci Louis for renting us your apartment. It made our stay a very pleasant and enjoyable one. We look forward to staying here again in the near future! The apartment comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Rose and Sydney - Toronto - CANADA -

"The apartment was even nicer than the pictures. An incredible location, very clean and comfortable, a well equipped kitchen (we did real cooking for a party of 10, although there are plenty of places within a block that could have provided equally sumptious food). This apartment is very centrally located, an easy walk to several Metro stations, and is in a very secure, quiet building. The washer and heated towel racks were especially nice. If you're lucky, Louis may even meet you with champagne and a rose! And at checkout time, the owner stayed on to ensure that the airport shuttle arrived and that all was well for the journey to the airport." Merci, Karen - USA -
