Why the Owner Chose Oak Bluffs
The Vineyard has always held a special place for us, many summers and special trips to the island over the years have revealed its natural beauty and wonderful charm. There is a certain magical lure to the island that calls many visitors to return year after year. When my husband and I were choosing a location to be married, we immediately thought of the Vineyard and after looking around at many island locations we purchased this house. It is a charming 1890s house that had been hit hard by the 70s; but its obvious good bones were there and the location (proximity to town, ferry and beach) and the large yard made it exactly what we were looking for. After much hard work and restoration, we have brought the house and cottage to its current state and enjoy our time out there whenever we can.
The Unique Benefits at this House and Cottage
Our property is within walking distance to the Oak Bluffs ferry, the arts district, Circuit Ave (main shopping area), and the beach, but far enough away from all of these that house enjoys quiet days and evenings. Once on the Island, you can stroll into town for dining, to the beach for a walk or swim and back home without using your car. There is also a bus stop for the island bus system at the end of the street. Our shaded, large, fenced-in yard, unusual for an in-town property, allows kids to play, outdoor dining under the trees and beautiful porch breezes. Additionally, the town park with slides, swings, toddler play area, tennis and basketball courts is across the street from the house.
Sengekontacket Pond, sheltered and great for kayaking and windsurfing.
Circuit Ave., Kennebec Ave., and the Oak Bluffs Harbor are the main shopping and dining areas for Oak Bluffs
