Oriental is the Sailing Capital of North Carolina. The Neuse River flowing from Raleigh is 5 miles across at Oriental, and is known as the "widest river" in the East. There are more sailboats than inhabitants, with over 1500 sailboats in the county. Many people arrive here for the mild climate and deep water for larger sailboats. Oriental is a gracious community with 865 people during the week and possibly swelling to over 10,000 on the biggest weekends. The Croaker Festival in July draws large crowds up to 15,000 with arts and crafts, and a local parade. Fishing is all seasons with a Tarpon Tournament during the latter part of July.
The townhouse is decorated with all of your needs down to the wine glasses, etc. to entertain a large group on the front porch. There are 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 baths overlooking the harbor with 2 large porches and comfortable seating. You would not want for anything while there. 7 local restaurants await just down the steps within walking distance to the townhouse. You can wander the streets antiquing, local stores, or signing up for a sailing class at one of the sailing schools. You can park your car and never have to drive till you leave.
A boat ramp is not far away in case you want to bring your boat.
