Location: Cross Village, Northwest, Michigan, USA (20 Minutes from Harbor Springs and Pelston Airport (PLN)) View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + Den, 4.5 Baths (Sleeps 8-10)
Keywords: Lake House
The fireplace was built with stones found by the Cranmer family from the lake, the woods and area farm fields over 60 years ago. It’s why we call our lake house the “Cranmer Hearth”.
It’s almost 3 acres with 200 feet of frontage on Lake Michigan in Cross Village at the northern beginning of the nationally historic highway called the ‘Tunnel of Trees”; a stunning example of the best of ‘Northern Michigan’.
We’ve renovated and with professional assistance from Interior Design Options of Gaylord have redecorated this beautiful beachside home. Four bedrooms, two are master suites, one with a king bed and one with a queen bed. The two smaller bedrooms are one with a double bed and one with two twins plus a den with a futon. So it sleeps 8 comfortably, 10 with the futon with 4.5 bathrooms. Stunning sunsets and fresh water breezes with a small, always babbling spring just feet from the deck - it's a great spot to unwind and just hang out for a week or two.
Many amenities including granite counters in the kitchen, espresso maker and flat screen televisions with Satellite TV and just minutes from Cross Village – a pleasant, peaceful village – the opposite of the hectic lives most of us live. Yet within 20 to 30 minutes from Harbor Springs, Mackinaw Island and Pelston Airport (PLN) - daily non-stops from Detroit.
Welcome - we'd love to have you as our guests!

Map & Owner's Profile

Why the Owner Chose Cross Village
It's an unbelievable part of the world - standing on 200 feet of sand and dunes makes us (at least) realize what a great state Michigan is. Located at the beginning of one of our country's top 10 scenic highways, the "Tunnel of Trees", when you get here, you're there.
The Unique Benefits at this House
There is a small year 'round spring that trickles through the rocks just a few feet south of the deck and patio. Cross Village is a quiet place, yet it is only 20 to 30 minutes from Harbor Springs, Mackinaw Island, and Pelston Airport (PLN) with daily flights to Detroit. Some of Michigan's best golf is within minutes, too.

Greetings from Cross Village! We purchased and renovated this wonderful lakehouse in Spring, 2009 and were overwhelmed by both the interest in it and how nice the folks were who became our guests. Thank you, Joe and Joletta Richert

Dear Joe, We can not begin to express how perfect your home turned out to be for us. The pictures do not even do it justice! Your home was beautifully decorated, very clean and provided all the comforts of home. The view from the master bedroom was perfect. The combination of beautiful trees and waves hitting the beach made for perfect scenery to wake to every morning. The location was private and peaceful and provided a picture perfect setting for our wedding day. We enjoyed nights by the gorgeous stone fire place and watching the sunset from the beach. We are so grateful to you for allowing us to use your beautiful home as the backdrop for our special day. From the moment we arrived, to the day we had to leave, our time there was perfect. We enjoyed Cross Village very much and decided that some of the friendliest people on earth live there! It is our wish to celebrate our one year anniversary there. I seriously can not say enough good things about our stay. We have never been so sad to leave a place, and we cant wait to come back! Thank you again for everything. We truly had an amazing time and the wedding we had been dreaming of! Sincerely, the newly married, Mr. & Mrs. Jim Smith

We visited the Cranmer House for a Girls Weekend and we had a blast! The house is awesome and everything listed but better! We had 9 ladies here and there was plenty of room. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and walking on the beach, visiting Mackinaw City & St. Ignace and the beautiful colors of the Tunnel of Trees. We also had a wonderful dance contest on the tile floor & a beautiful fire in the stone fireplace! We can't wait to come back again! Love your house & thank you for the wonderful memories!

This is our second stay at the Cranmer Hearth and we enjoyed everyday of our two week vacation. The home has stayed in beautiful condition and we love the well stocked kitchen that served our entertaining needs so well. The property is quite beautiful and our kids played outside for hours on the deck; in the woods; by the creek; and on the sand. the beach is sandy with shallow water for kids and feels private, most of the time! Any questions or concerns were taken care of quickly by the caretaker. Taking a drive to Good Hart for delicious crepes, visiting Harbor Springs for shoppping and some 3G coverage or having Polish beers and food at the Leg's Inn are nice activities while you are in Cross Village. We love this place!

All of the review criteria we rate not just as excellent but outstanding. We had a great time with our children and grandchildren who had come from Wyoming. We were very familiar with Northern Michigan having had our own cottage on the AuSable River and so we enjoyed our side trips to Petosky, Harbor Springs and Mackinaw Island. Mostly however we enjoyed the home and beach. As noted before OUTSTANDING.

I grew up in Harbor Springs and had other family in Good Hart and I must say that I was very pleased with the location and accomodations of the Cranmer House. The house is located in the woods and had access to the beach.....just like my family's home. We were fortunate to have a fawn 30 feet from the deck hang out with us for a day until it's mother came for him/her early the next morning (we got to witness this too). Lots of personal touches in this home...it had everything. I would recommend this home to anyone traveling north. I can see us renting it again with a large group of friends!!!!

We stayed here in October of 2009 for a Girl's Weekend. There were 9 of us and we had planty of room. The house was stunning and beautifully laid out. We enjoyed countless hours on the beach and the peace and serentiy was just what we needed. We took a road trip to Mackinac to buy some fudge one afternoon and were back before dinner. The house and property are stunning and if given the chance we would stay here again in a heartbeat! A few of us are looking foward to bring our familes back next summer.
