I loved the "neighborhood" having the "90" bus on 8th street, the Metro so close as well as the Eastern Market within a few blocks made our stay even better. Staying in the home was delightful and met all our needs, The only suggestion I would make is to have a list of places to purchase food, upon arrival. I would definitely recommend the home to friends

My wife, 3 kids, and I spent 11 days/10 nights in DC. We were there seeing all the museums and monuments and everything else DC has to offer. We opted for a rowhouse instead of a hotel. The accomodations were just what we were looking for. It was clean and neat. We brought in food and cooked many breakfasts and dinners there, even grilling out a few times. The street is a fairly quiet one. The kids loved staying there and playing on the back patio. While being closer to the Metro would have been ideal, the daily walk (7 1/2 blocks) was a beautiful one and went by fast. There's a Starbucks, CVS, Yes Organic grocery store, and the daily market at the Eastern Market (7th/8th and Pennsylvania) to cover most of your daily needs. There's also a coffee shop closeby at 8th and C. I'm sure it's good coffee, but I got "Soup-Natzi'd" for offering a debit card - "No coffee for you!!" - Ouch. Great place. Great time.

We had a great vacation in DC! Staying here was a big plus! We walked to everything or took the Metro from the Eastern Market, which was a 10-15 minute walk away. Very comfortable beds! Nice and clean and looked just like the pictures. Beautiful neighborhood, enjoyed all the gorgeous gardens and flowers. Saved a ton of money (and calories) by eating at home and packing lunches to take with us. Light, bright well stocked kitchen. Had fun shopping at the Eastern Market for most of our food needs. Would definitely stay here again when we return to DC! Thank you Kate and Jarek!

Great property in Capitol Hill. Walking distance to all monuments. Grocery stores (Harris Teeter) are approx a 10 minute drive from the house. Well maintained home in a quiet,family oriented neighbourhood. Listing reflected the house and furnishings. Small patio at back of house, with bar-b-que. Great for a family. Stayed here with our daughter, son in law and our 16 month grand daughter.Not crowded at all. Nice to have washer and dryer to use. Would stay here again.

Excellent apartment in a great location

Last weekend, my father, partner and I spent the weekend at this great apartment. The bedrooms were large and the layout (bedrooms and full bath upstairs) and (half bath, kitchen and living room) made the apartment feel very spacious and it was easy to sleep even if other people were awake. It is about a 10 minute walk to two different metro lines and the neighborhood is very charming. Kate and Jarek were very prompt and organized making the reservation process very easy. We will definitely stay here again.

Washington D.C. is a city rich in history. It is also rich in delicious food, awesome bars, and lots of fun. Our stay on Capitol Hill was fantastic. This condo is in a great, quiet neighborhood, which is an easy walk to the Eastern Market and the Metro, which can put you anywhere in the city in a matter of minutes. It's a great central hub for all the Nation's capital has to offer. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely give Jarek and Kate a call the next time I'm heading to D.C.

Thank you for a very nice place to stay for our week in DC. The property was not fancy, but clean and handy. Kitchen well supplied. We walked to the Capitol and to the Metro, which made it very easy to get around. Since we had a rental car, the parking space was a lifesaver! Lots of nice places to eat within walking distance. The owner was available when we had a question.

Loved the apartment and the neighborhood. We stayed there with 3 teenage kids and we had more then enough space. Very comfortable beds. Maybe a little bit more plates and glasses. If you have breakfast and dinner in the apartment then there were not enough plates for the 5 of us. Unfortunately there was something wrong with the fireplace when we stayed at this apartment so we were not allowed to lit it, which was regrettable. But still I like to give it a 5 star. When we visit Washington again we will definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Capitol Hill condo. We had plenty of room. We were traveling with two adults and two teenagers. It was great to have the two bedrooms and two baths. We found a grocery store close by and saved money by eating breakfast every day at the condo before our day. It was an easy walk to the US Capitol and to the Metro that we took all over the city from the Eastern Market station. The photos reflected the condo. It was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked. We used the microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, washer and dryer. We took advantage of the off street parking. We received quick email responses to all of our questions from the owners. I would highly recommend this property!

It was great to be able to leave behind the museums and attractions and return to a wonderful neighborhood location. This property was very comfortable, with plenty of room for us and our two teen-aged sons. We would recommend Ted's Bulletin on 8th Street as a great place for a bite to eat.

Stayed here 5 nights with our 12 year old daughter. Extremely comfortable home with every amenity you need. Close to the metro and great restaurants. It is a 15 minute or so walk to the Capitol, Library of Congress and Supreme Court. Great, safe neighborhood with wonderful neighbors. We asked for directions, restaurant recommendations of people walking in the area and they were more than happy to help. Maybe the friendliest city/neighborhood we've ever stayed in. Can't say enough good things about the property. Highly recommend.

Great Location and Owners

We stayed here for three nights (two couples) and this property fit our needs perfectly. We enjoyed being able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go, and the metro stop is a few blocks away. We wish we had known about the bike rentals at the metro station earlier - we didn't find out about them until the last day. There are lots of good restaurants nearby. This property is not for individuals with accessablity issues - there are steep stairs and the sidewalks in this older neighborhood are extremely uneven. We will certainly consider renting here again in the future - in fact, I've already given out the information on this property to someone in my office.

We loved this pretty and cozy home and highly recommend it. The location near Eastern Market is perfect. You are only a few blocks away from the handy market and great dining options on Barracks Row. It is just far enough, however, to be very quiet at night. The beds and linens are terrific quality and the entire apartment was spotless. The owners are so professional, organized and reliable. We would stay here again in a heartbeat...hopefully for a longer trip!

This couldn't have been better for us! Absolutley wonderful accommodations within walking distance of Union Station. From there we took the Metro or Circulator anywhere we couldn't walk. I would definitely return to this lovely rowhouse on it's quiet, safe street. Thanks so much!

This two-story apartment was the perfect home for a week of research in Washington! For the price of two basic hotel rooms, three of us enjoyed an extremely comfortable and well-appointed kitchen, diningroom, livingroom - and a private garden with secure parking. Everything has been thought of - including good books and wine. The neighborhood is very quiet, and we walked to the National Postal Museum each day as well as to museums on The Mall, and we shopped at Eastern Market. Our young intern is now enamored of the city, plans to apply to graduate school in D.C., and, if possible, find an apartment in this neighborhood. All of our VRBO experiences have been excellent - but these hosts outdid themselves to equip the apartment.

My family of six had a fantastic 10 day vacation in DC this summer, made possible because we were lucky enough to stay in this condo. The condo was perfectly arranged, furnished, and very comfortable. It had everything we needed, and more. It was beautifully decorated, with nice furnishings and a re-modeled kitchen. The owners could not have been more helpful, assisting us before and throughout our stay. The location of the condo was perfect. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood, yet within easy walking distance to the Eastern Market, the Capital, and Union Station. We would defininately recommend this property.

We consider ourselves Vrbo veterans both domestic and internationally. This was one of the most well stocked, clean, quiet, and roomy place we have stayed in. There were plenty of towels, and tons of storage, remarkable for an old townhouse. It was so nice to not be tripping over our suitcases during our stay. We stayed eight days many of which were during a humid heatwave. The central air was heaven after a long day of seeing the sights. The owners were friendly, helpful, and had an extensive binder of things to do, see, eat, etc. It is about a 15 minute walk either to the Eastern Market metro or to the Union station metro. Many good resaurants are near Eastern Market. The neighborhood was quiet, nice, and safe. We had no qualms walking there in the evening. We would stay there again without hesitation!

I highly recommend this apartment. It really is fabulous and in a great location to enjoy a Washington visit. My stay was in January, 2010 and included an overnight snow storm. I enjoyed sitting by the fire and eating my dinner that I had gathered from the Eastern Market. Looking out on the backyard patio with the table and BBQ I could tell staying here in the warmer months would be a delight too. I have stayed in a number of apartments in the U.S. and Europe and this is one of the best!

Great experience for my family with young children staying in this spacious and tastefully furnished apartment over the Thanksgiving holiday. Being within walking distance from Eastern Market and the National Mall was a treat: no parking hassles, invigorating walks, great scenery. The kitchen was set up perfectly for preparing quick breakfasts and some really nice dinners with friends. We'd certainly come back to this place!

Very nicely furnished apartment in a great location. Close to Eastern Market, which we learned to visit daily for fresh organic groceries. Walking distance to the US Capitol, Smithsonian and US Botanic Gardens and all the monuments on the Mall. The apartment is well equipped and decorated, located on a very nice residential street with many historic houses around. Just about the best location we ever visited through VRBO. Jarek and Kate - thank you for letting us to stay at your house in DC. We walked to the Capitol building every morning and enjoyed getting to know the neighborhood so much. We ate at the Eastern Market every night and walked all over the Mall which was the best part of our visit. We stayed here Memorial Day weekend 2009 with our two small children. What a fantastic experience. We spent our days exploring Washington DC and our evenings in this lovely apartment. It was so nice to have a home away from home. After the kids went to bed upstairs, my husband and I enjoyed a nice evening with each other. This beats hotel living every time. This was an especially nice rental with all the perks of home, plus the added bonus of tourist information at our fingertips. The owners made us feel welcome and provided great information to make touring DC easy.

What a great property! I spent a week here with my brother and his family and we all loved the unit. The house was very spacious, very clean and nicely furnished. We used the backyard and the grill couple of times and loved having the outdoor space. The location was great for walking around and exploring the city as well as the area of Eastern Market where we shopped for fresh groceries daily. We stayed in the apartment for ten days with our kids while visiting Washington. We loved the unit and the location of Eastern Market. We found the apartment very clean, very nicely furnished and really enjoyed hanging out in the back yard with the kids. The area of Eastern Market was very safe and ideal for kids with three parks just within few minutes walking distance and the Capitol and Senate buildings less than ten minutes walking distance. Would highly recommend this place to everyone.
