In this quiet neighborhood, you will find the perfect base camp for your Alaskan adventure. The Hinterland Chalet is designed to provide you with a cozy stay in Girdwood with full kitchen and sleeping amenities. This timber frame chalet boasts beautiful redwood siding. Built by climbers in 1983, the recycled redwood came from Anchorage's original REI store.
On the main floor, the kitchen and living area is surrounded by windows. One bedroom on this floor has a full sized bed and closet. The futon in the living room also folds out to a full sized bed. The main loft hosts a queen sized log frame bed where the moon shines bright on clear nights. This is the master bedroom of the house with a closet. Up the ladder, you can escape to the tree room for reading and gazing out through the forest. The large deck in front is perfect for relaxing after a hike. This 1,000 square foot chalet is well-suited for families and friends in groups up to six people.

Year Purchased: 2004
Girdwood is home to glaciers and mountains, a place where peace and adventure collide. When I first arrived here in 1998, I knew that someday I would live in this beautiful place by the sea. In 2004, that dream came true when I found this adorable redwood chalet. I am a skier at heart and spend my weekends in the backcountry of the Chugach and Kenai Mountains. And, I am a forester. Being here in the hemlock and spruce gives me solitude and energy. When out on an adventure, I love to see new countries and experience foreign cultures. Girdwood is my home because the community here is so close. We all take care of one another and share in the good times at Alyeska Resort.
The Unique Benefits of this House
St. Moritz curls up the base of Max's Mountain and ends shortly after my place. The neighbors are genuine and the blueberries are sweet. When the sun shines, it warms the gravel streets and brings everyone outside to share stories. For the adventurous spirits, the back door leads to excellent powder skiing in winter and quiet hikes with bears, forest flowers and birds in summer. This is a quiet, peaceful place.
