The BEST place on Big Lake!
The BEST place on Big Lake!

We have stayed there twice with 2 other families and the place is AMAZING! We have stayed at other houses on Big Lake before but this was by far our favorite, won't stay anywhere else. It feels very luxurious yet is children friendly. The best thing about it is the great variety of entertainment (movie room, pool table, X-Box, reading balcony, etc) which makes it possible to have a great number of people yet never feel like you are on top of each other. Very spacious, very clean, comfortable. You will not be disappointed! I HIGHLY recommend it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This is an AMAZING property--a dream come true! Our local and out of town family stayed at this property for a family event in September 2011! The house is breathtaking and very much a home away from home! It is decorated to the nines and makes anyone who has the unique opportunity to stay feel like a king and/or queen. The bedrooms (all 6 of them) are clean, comfortable and roomy! The game room on the first floor is a fun/great way to keep kids entertained. The lake front area is simply amazing--gazebo, BBQ grills, covered deck, dock, the view of Sleeping Lady and the landscaping are a perfect view for outdoor enjoyment with friends and family. We were so lucky to have found this gem--! Alaska is an amazing place to visit, but even more so to have such an amazing place to stay so close to our own home in Anchorage.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Dear Jay & Julianne: We are so happy that you had such a good time in our home. Thank you for your review. It makes a lot to us. Sincerely, Maclovia & Emilio

My family has stayed here a few times and it is the best! The house is amazing it's MTV Cribs in Alaska. The family that owns the property is very nice and extremely welcoming. I have never seen such a great place for a vacation, wedding, party, or just to relax. Kid friendly all the way!!! Brand New Game room on lower floor. Everything on all floors is new and decorated to the finest. I would recommend this to everyone who loves a great place to spread out and enjoy almost 4acres of fun. 2 boat docks, boat launch, gazebo, BBQ's, sunning area, 6 person hot tub on the lake!! It's just a amazing and goregous place to go!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We spent a week in July 2011 at this property. We found the accomodations and amenities of superior quality. We used this location as home base for sightseeing around Anchorage and Denali. The kitchen is a cook's dream. The entertainment opportunites for all ages is vast, including movies, pool table, air hockey, x-box games, kayaking, canoeing, grilling, marshmellow and hot dog roasting, gym, etc. I highly recommend this property for anyone from Alaska or the lower 48. The only thing we were missing was our boat that we left in Texas.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Paul and Brenda: We are so thankful of you review, and very happy that you had a good time. Let us know, if you or any friend of you, want to experiance the beaty of Alaska. We will do our best to make sure you have a great time. You need more time for Brenda to visit the Medical Center. This the only State that does not have manage care. God Blees Emilio

I just completed a week-long stay at this beautiful home with several friends from around the country. The house was incredible and served us very well. The owners were there if we needed them, but we were left alone to enjoy the house as if it were our own. The professional kitchen and large dining table were a plus and made it easy to have great conversation as 12 guys returned from their daily adventures. The only issue we had was that the new grill was not yet hooked up, but the other grill worked just fine and met our needs. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it to others.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: My wife and I are originally from Guatemala, and have lived in Anchorage, Alaska since 1988. We moved our family to Alaska because we were impressed by it's natural beauty and grandeur of this state. The lake house was built in the 1980's for a project that was never finished. We bought the unfinished house in 2004, and over the last 6 years we have been remodeling and enjoying the tranquil home ever since. This beautiful lake house is now available for any guest who wishes to enjoy the wonderful summers and winters that Alaska has to offer. We have enjoyed our last 20 years in Alaska, and hope that others will find the same pleasure in their next visit.
Why the Owner Chose Big Lake:
Big Lake Alaska is a popular getaway destination of the residents in Alaska. It is surrounded by incredible views for an unforgettable summer or winter. The house is located in the North Shore of the lake, in an unusually flat area, with 360 degree views. From the lake house, you can see, Mount McKinley, Mount Susitna "the Sleeping Lady", the Alaska Range, Kinik Glacier and the Chugach Mountains. The lake house is far enough from the city for great privacy and is close to many Alaskan activities.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You can enjoy water sports in the summer, rentals of any motorized equipment is available close by. Access to numerous fishing holes for Salmon, trout, pike, etc. You can make arrangements to be picked up by water plane and taken to incredible fishing areas and sightseeing. Incredible sights that can be admired in the backyard. The property is only three hours from Denali National Park, 10 miles from Wasilla (Sara Palin’s home town). For more shopping and dining options, Anchorage is approximately one hour away. The lake house is also one hour from Hatches Pass, home of the Independence Mine, and a historical site. In winter, enjoy cross country skiing, snow shooing, snowmobiling, Ice Skating, and Ice fishing in the back yard. Big Lake is the start point of the famous Iron Dog Race, and Willow, which is 10 miles north is the start point of the famous dog sled Iditarod Race. Enjoy the Northern Lights in the winter clear nights or visit Hatches Pass for a heli skiing or down hill skiing adventure.
