Great Apartment/Perfect Location

Guest: E (Upstate New York)
Date of Stay: 10/23/11 Review Submitted: 11/11/11

I stayed here for 2 nights with my 2 adult children. It was one of the few apartments I found in Venice that would rent for less than 3 nights. The apartment was VERY clean, in a safe area, comfortable and exactly as pictured on the website. In fact it was a little larger than I had expected. It is within easy walking distance to everything. It is very close to a vaporetti stop and not far at all from a stop where you can catch the Alilaguna waterbus to/from the airport. I would recommend this apartment to anyone unless you have difficulty with stairs. The apartment is on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building and the bathroom is on the 3rd floor. My only complaint was that we were charged about a third more for our two night stay than what the website had advertised. I never did get an explanation for that from Riccardo either in my emails before the trip or when we got there. We had a very enjoyable time in Venice--it's a fabulous city and this apartment was perfect for us!

Lovely Apartment

This is wonderful apartment in a superb location. The apartment was clean and well maintained with plenty of room for our family of four. It was steps from a small market where we were able to buy an assortment of fresh italian hams, cheeses and breads as well as drinks for our lunches! There were many shops and restaurants nearby as well. The apartment is close to S. Stephano square, and within walking distance to most major sights such as St. Marks and the Rialto bridge. The water bus stop is a very short walk away. The traghetto (gondola) that takes you across the canal is at the end of the street which proved to be very economical and convenient. Laura greeted us upon our arrival in Venice and was extremely helpful. Thanks to both her and Riccardo for their hospitality!! We hope to be able to visit again.

Fantastic Apartment!

Guest: Virginia (Washington DC)
Date of Stay: 07/03/11 Review Submitted: 07/07/11

The location of this apartment is simply incredible!! It is filled with lovely artwork which makes the apartment very special. It is close to wine shops, restaurants, museums - everything in Venice! We were there with two children and it was perfect to have a lovely master bedroom with king size bed upstairs with a second bedroom with two twins downstairs! There is a lot of room in all the rooms. It was very quiet when we wanted to go to sleep which was nice. Visitors to Venice in June/July - be warned - there are lots of mosquitoes and you need to close the windows to the lovely courtyard before you go to sleep. Think about bringing your own repellant/after-bite products. Transportation is available very close by - the water buses are only 200 meters away and there is an Alilaguna waterbus from San Marco directly to the airport but you do need to pay attention to the schedule so you give yourself enough time. The apartment is so centrally located we did not get the waterbus pass(very expensive) because we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We only bought a one day pass to visit Murano and Burano. One great deal is the gondolas that take you across the grand canal. The routes are shown as dotted lines across the Grand Canal (one is very near the apartment) and they only charge .50 euros however they only operate from mornings to mid-day. The regular gondola rides take about an hour but cost 100 euro and up. The apartment is fantastic to have for so many reasons but not the least of which is the chance to save money by shopping in the unique markets and cooking yourself. Visitors need to be aware that water/soft drinks are expensive but buying them at the grocery and keeping them in the apartment refrigerator is very smart - as is buying the table wine for 5 euros for 1.5 ltrs at the shop down the block. It was better than a lot of bottled wines! Ricarrdo was very helpful and the apartment really was fantastic! You will want to stay as long as you can!

Lovely apartment, great location

Guest: Texan-in-Italy (Seattle)
Date of Stay: 05/14/11 Review Submitted: 06/02/11

This apartment is well-located and quite comfortable. We enjoyed our three-day stay and could see how another two people would be very comfortable in the second bedroom. Only the one bathroom, but a good size with lots of hot water. The living area was plenty big and I could see someone cooking, though we didn't use the kitchen. The apartment was clean and quiet. The apartment is a very short walk to one vaporetto stop and a slightly longer walk to another, so options. Nice walks to St. Mark's, Rialto Market, good restaurants. Grocery nearby, too. Lovely apartment.

A quiet Venice Retreat

Date of Stay: 05/20/11 Review Submitted: 06/02/11

Our host, Laura was very helpful on our arrival, orienting us to both the apratment and area. The apartment was very comfortable, clean and ideally locate to visit much of Venice by walking no more than 5-10 minutes. We loved the fact that it is served by two different vaporetto stops and that there excellent food stores, a wine store and pastry shops and restuarants so close by. We travel alot and have come to appreciate the efforts of the hosts of the properties that we have rented. Laura and Riccardo made our experience one that will always remember,. I cannot imagine why anyone would want to stay in an expensive hotel in Venice when a place likes their's is available. We will be sure to recommend it to our friends and family.

Delightful, Quiet Apartment near San Marco

Guest: Pamela (Boca Raton, Florida, USA)
Date of Stay: 04/16/11 Review Submitted: 04/26/11

My daughter, her father and I spent a splendid nine days in the apartment in April, we were very happy living there. The description and photos are accurate, but, in fact, the apartment is better than the photos show. It was immaculate, quiet, convenient and bright. Booking the apartment with Riccardo was easy, he promptly answered my questions and made me feel comfortable. After landing, we had a tight connection to get to a concert at the Teatro la Fenice, Riccardo had a colleague waiting for us, check-in was quick and professional. The apartment is in a fabulous location, steps to the Vaporetti stop of San Samuele, restaurants and small grocers 20 feet around the corner or a minute walk to the large square of Santo Stefano where one can find many restaurants, ice cream shops, larger grocer, bars, shops, coffee shops - Cicchetti bar for espresso, pastry, sandwich or salad, outdoor cafes for fabulous people watching - our favorite restaurant in the square was A Beccafico, we ate there five times - open for lunch and dinner - our most favorite dessert was their Tiramisu, served in a glass pot for two, the most delicious, elegant tiramisu we've ever eaten. From Santo Stefano, it is about a three minute walk to Academia Bridge. We recommend this apartment without hesitation and will stay there again. Grazie Riccardo!

venice apartment

My husband and I have just returned from Riccardo's apartment in beautiful Venice. We found Riccardo very easy to deal with and very helpful. The apartment is an easy short walk from 2 ferry stops. Just a few metres from the front door is a little grocery/deli,wine store and opposite this a restaurant. Nearby are many more restaurants on a square. Riccardo sent us a map and good instructions on how to locate his apartment. We were greeted at the apartment by Riccardo's father who showed us around. The first floor consists of a tiny but functionable kitchen with hotplates and a microwave and fridge.. There is also a plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery and glassware. A few larger coffee cups would not go astray. There is also a dining room table and lounge in this area and a window which overlooked the street and was nice to watch the venetians wander by. There is also a comfortable size twin bedroom on this floor. Upstairs , we are in our mid 50s and the stairs were not a problem,is a large queen size bedroom and bathroom which is actually bigger than it looks in the photos and has a washing machine in it. The apartment was very clean also. Unfortunately while we were there we had problems with the electricity - not the apartments fault but the electricity company. Riccardo was very attentive and came quickly with candles and torches. The problem took a day or so to rectify and caused a few inconveniences but Riccardo generously gave us a reduction in our tariff and a bottle of wine for our troubles. The apartment is not luxurious but very comfortable and we enjoyed it much more that staying in a hotel, We celebrated our wedding anniversay while there - beautiful sunshine, a gondola ride and dinner beside the Rialto bridge. What more could you ask for. Thankyou Riccardo and we would definitely recommend it.

Good quiet

Guest: Kenneth W. (Alberta, Canada)
Date of Stay: 10/03/10 Review Submitted: 10/22/10

We spent 4 days in the apartment and enjoyed it very much. It was quiet, had easy access to restaurants, grocery store several doors away. Several blocks to waterbus. The neighborhood is very near San Marco Square and we walked there easily, other than getting lost several times. The apt. is nothing fancy but has all the comforts of home. The upper bedroom and bathroom is up some real steep stairs so would not recommend for older or handicapped people. It was clean and comfortable for the four of us, all in our 60's. Owners were friendly and helpful.

Great location

Guest: A special part of Italy (Minneapolis, MN)
Date of Stay: 05/07/10 Review Submitted: 05/16/10

We stayed here for 4 nights in May 2010 and found the apartment to be very convenient to get to San Marco Square and also the Rialto Bridge etc. We were able to enjoy a classical concert at a church just 2 blocks away which was one of the highlights of our stay. The grocery store is only a few steps away and there are several restaurants literally just around the corner. When you walk into the building, there is a flight of stairs to get into the apartment. The area is very quiet. On the first floor is a bedroom with 2 single beds/combined kitchen/living area. You must then go up a spiral wooden staircase to get to the main bedroom and bathroom.( We are in our 50's and did not find the stairs to be a problem ). The bathroom and kitchen area have been renovated. There is a washing machine in the bathroom which was handy. The owner was very nice to work with and very responsive to any questions we had. There was someone to meet us at the apartment and directions were provided as we were coming from the train station. We bought a 3 day pass for the vaporetto (water bus) and this worked extremely well . On the 4th day, we just bought a 12 hour pass. It is much easier to find the apartment if you get off at the "San Samuel stop". During our stay we visited the main attractions including the "Accademia Art Museum" which I highly recommend and also visited the island of Murano. It is much easier to take the vaporetto to San. Marco rather than walking there.
