Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1995

We purchased this property in 1995 and love its quiet location yet so conveniently located to the golf, yacht clubs and town. The polo pony barn was converted into the guest cottage in 1997. we kept the exterior barn look and cathedraled the sitting area. With the walls and ceiling fresh white, it is a relaxing and peaceful guest cottage.

Excelllent Rental Experience

A friend and I rented this darling cottage in September. The building has been renoved from a former polo pony barn into a stylish, spacious, comfortable cottage for two. There is also a very private litttle garden and patio for morning coffee or afternoon wine and cheese! The cottage is located in a convenient, but very quiet residential area. The owner has provided full supply of amenities and she was very nice and professional to work with before and during the rental.

Cozy Cottage

Date of Stay: 08/08/11 Review Submitted: 08/24/11

My husband and I had a wonderful stay this August. Very cozy and comfortable. Even our dog had a great time. Every morning we walked down to the beach with our dog (Just a block down the street) and she had a great swim. We enjoyed touring all the mansions, and doing the cliff walk. We also took in a play (Hairspray) in Matunuck at "The Theatre by the Sea. Dinner beforehand at The Bistro was also excellent which is right next door. In Newport itself there are many great restaurants and shopping to enjoy, also the park along the ocean drive was beautiful. We loved it!

Owner response:So glad you enjoyed your stay. I hadn't realized that you had gone to "Theater by the Sea'. What a great venue to add to your vacation. I'll try to include the list of shows next year for guest. with thanks, Kathy

Peaceful Getaway

Guest: Kara (Forest Hill, MD)
Date of Stay: 07/09/10 Review Submitted: 07/20/10

I am a wedding coordinator from Maryland and came to Newport to coordinate a wedding and needed a place that was close to the venue, all the fun Newport has to offer, yet quiet and peaceful so I could relax. The barn was the perfect place. It has a cozy living area with a kitchenette when you walk in. There was breakfast food, fresh fruit, and a refrigerator with milk and juice waiting for us. The bedroom has two very comfortable twin beds next to the 3/4 bath that is spacious. I loved staying here and would definetly stay there again!!

A Real Gem!

The Barn was really the perfect place for us to stay. It was clean, cute and perfectly located near the water and downtown. Our labrador had a blast rolling around in the grass, and we loved spending time reading out on the patio. Kathy and Turner were excellent hosts - they helped guide us to discover so much of what Newport has to offer. We have already recommended the Barn to our friends and family, and have plans to visit again ourselves.
