I was sad to see the Boathouse is booked for this summer. There is nothing else like it! The hosts are super nice and don't bother you. But the best thing is being right on the pond, watching the boats go in and out. You can swim off the dock and paddle around on the kayak, all the way out to the bay. The screen porch is perfect for breakfast (the Boathouse gets morning sun, so the afternoons are cool) and cocktails. Every morning I took a shower in the outdoor shower. We grilled fish or chicken every night but once when it rained we made spaghetti on the stove. It's a real kitchen & bath. Granted it's not the Ritz but your neighbors are pair of swans, kingfishers, horseshoe crabs and chipmunks. An easy drive into town for supplies or meals out (we love Land Ho!) and a quick sprint to Nauset Beach or Rock Harbor. Best for couples or solitary writer types who don't mind roughing it (a bit).
Recommended for:Romantic getaway.
