Built in 1934 by the engineer of the famous Lions Gate Bridge, this home was built from Logs cut while constructing the bridge. One of the first buildings in West Vancouver it has been declared a heritage site. It has an almost unheard of full acre of property right in the middle of West Vancouver. Five minutes from the bridge to downtown Vancouver. 15 minutes to Cypress mountain Ski Resort. It has a mountain river that splits in to two streams at the nothern tip of the property, one flows into a large pond the other cascades down a fall and out under a stone arched bridge. The house is nestled in old growth forest.
It has five fireplaces, three wood and two gas. There is a three car garage. There is a studio building we have used as a private gym with a treadmill and weight machine. There is a large heated pool and In ground Hot Tub. Around the side of the house is a large trampoline. There are several lawns to play various games or picnic. This house is very children friendly as there is a large Jungle Gym in a stand of Cypress trees.
Inside it is beautiful and cozy, decorated with old world antiques. There is a Chef's kitchen with all amenities. There is a long dining table made of old hardwood that seats 10. There is a living room with vaulted ceiling and fireplace (we supply the wood), adorned with paintings and sculptures. One wall of the living room is all glass and looks out onto one of the lawns. There are three bedrooms. The master has a spa bath, shower and two sinks. The 2nd room has a queen size bed and beautiful 2nd story view of the pond. It is adjacent to steam room shower. The 3rd room is a child's room overlooking the pool. There is a piano in the living room.
Overall 'Pleasant Lea' is peaceful and relaxing, allowing you a private playful retreat you will never want to leave.

Why the Owner Chose West Vancouver
15 minutes to Ski resorts (Gross Mountain Cable Cars and Cypress Mountain), 5 minutes to Lionsgate bridge and all that downtown offers (aquarium, science center and parks), it sits on one acre of old growth forest making it completely private yet only 5 minutes to rec. centers and beach, 5 minutes to West Vancouver shopping, near bike paths that run along the waterfront, 15 minutes to ferries that run to the San Juan islands, 2 minutes walk to Baseball diamond and Children's Jungle Gym, jogging path goes right by our front door, 5 minutes walking to Capilano Riverside, a park (with salmon runs) that follows the river about a mile down to the harbor. A great place to walk a dog or skip stones with your children. Pleasant Lea is about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Whistler resort.

We live in Los Angeles and use this retreat as often as life will allow. We work in the design industry and bought it while working in Vancouver. We are family people with two boys age 1 and 7, who love privacy and the beauty of the nearby ocean and mountains. We also love being close enough to the city to have a great night out. Having been both raised in the country we cannot let go of the feeling 'Pleasant Lea' gives us. We also look forward to teaching our boys to ski in the ski resorts less than 10 minutes from our front door. In the summer we enjoy swimming in the pool and hot tub, taking hikes right outside our back door along the Capilano River (an active salmon run in the fall) and boating.
