The Unique Benefits of this House

This is a unique home on the shores of Lake Michigan. It's a family home that we have decided to rent for the first time. There is a lot of love that went into building this home and many wonderful memories have been made here. It is a fabulous retreat both in the high season with the beach, swimming and water sports and off season with the wonderful natural fireplace and access to cross country skiing.

Our second stay was just as wonderful as our first. We love this home, it's private beach, and the surrounding area. We HIGHLY recommend this home. (and the Pizza Ranch in Oostburg!)

Private, pleasant and finally, a child-friendly place

Usually when you rent a home or condo, it is empty. We arrived to a bottle of wine, toilet paper and dish soap, fire wood and more. This seems like a home that a family uses and rents out occassionally. My 3.5 year old son was delighted to find a full load of beach toys, a pint-sized picnic table and kid-friendly dishes. The beds had down comforters and overall the house was very clean. There were ample, nice linens available. The house was built in 1991, and some of the appliances are certainly original. It seemed like washing the dishes in the sink got them cleaner than the dishwasher. Some of the windows did not have screens, which prohibited air flow and being able to sleep with windows open. There are plenty of dishes, pots and pans, etc. Many vacation properties only have showers, which doesn't work for giving a child a bath. This house has two full tubs. Our only big dissapointment was during our beach picnic. We had just sat down for lunch and out from the house trail comes an ATV with two men wearing camoflauge wife beaters. They smile and wave. The men had arrived to drag the entire beach frontage of the property. Besides ruining our lunch, and our beach day (since my son naps after lunch), it freaked us out that no one had notified us of the maintenance, and the house was unlocked. My husband was very upset. The workers did not say anything to us, they just started working. They ended up being there for over an hour and basically ruined our time at the beach (we had to leave). The ATV the workers used was camoflauge and they definitely did not look or act like professionals. The house is set back from the beach, you can see the water through trees, the trail from the yard to the beginning of the sand is probably only 60-70 feet. If you sleep with the windows open you can hear the waves beating down and the sunrises are beautiful. The beach area is clean, the sand soft and has a significant distance between houses. We walked down the beach one night to find a bunch of houses right next to each other. If you are looking for privacy and a getaway, you have it. The master bedroom opens up over the living room with shades you can pull down. It enables great sunrises but doesn't block out noise. If you need a Starbucks fix, you are out of luck. All the local towns are quite small. We forgot our camera and couldn't find any place nearby to get a disposable. The big stone fireplace works wonderfully. We would definitely stay there again

BEAUTIFUL BEACH

Guest: Kate (Joliet, IL)
Date of Stay: 07/02/11 Review Submitted: 07/19/11

We recently stayed in this home, and it was amazing. The description does not do this home justice. The home was clean, and ready for us when we arrived. The beach is LARGE and CLEAN. Although the water was cold while we were there, the water was clear and the bottom sandy for a LONG time. The kayak, beach chairs and ability to have a beach fire added that special touch that we always look for. We can't wait for a return visit. We HIGHLY recommend this home and we would recommend it with out reservation. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

Our family stayed for 5 days and enjoyed every minute. We took walks on the beach, played beach ball , went kayaking, roasted smores, played board games and had terrific family time .We also had fun exploring nearby Sheboygan and Kohler one day.The beach is fantastic and the view from the home is gorgeous. We look forward to coming back again sometime.

Owner response:Thank you for your nice review! we enjoyed having you.

We stayed here for four nights in mid-July and everything was perfect! Three generations of my family enjoyed the wonderful accomodations and beautiful lake views. The water was gorgeous - it felt like we were at the ocean! We rent lake homes each year and this one stands out as the best. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.
