Treat yourself to an affordable luxury vacation. Relax, unwind and enjoy the serene beauty the Lowcountry has to offer. However you travel, we are here to accommodate your needs. Singles, couples, and families, everyone is welcome and leaves with wonderful memories.
Our cottage sits on Little Lucy Creek, nestled among the live oaks and long leaf pines on Lady's Island. This Lowcountry hideaway has a breathtaking view of the tidal salt marshes of Little Lucy Creek where you can watch the egrets and herons wade in the marsh grass and the eagles and hawks soar overhead and you can hear the pileated woodpeckers pecking and watch them flit from tree to tree. If you watch closely you can see the tiny island deer, and raccoons when they visit the surrounding woods. From the screened porch you can see the dolphins surface as they mosey down Little Lucy Creek and if you look closely you can see the otters playing along the banks.
This cottage is also our second home and is thus appointed with all the amenities you need to make your vacation stay a delight. Most of the furnishings are genuine period antiques, most of them southern in origin and from the early 1800's. The living room has 22-foot vaulted ceilings, southern yellow pine floors, gas fireplace with a life-sized portrait of General Duff Green (our adopted southern kin) over the mantle, 46' flat screen TV with surround sound, sound system with speakers throughout the cottage, wi-fi and cable hook-up computer internet access. There are 3 sets of French doors, from the living room and both bedrooms, which overlook the salt marshes and provide access to the screened porch. All rooms have ceiling paddle fans or there is central air if you prefer.
The fully equipped kitchen has granite countertops with breakfast bar, gas range, full fridge/icemaker, microwave, wine cooler and is completely furnished with cookware, toaster, blender, mixer, coffeemaker, etc.
The master bedroom has a king-size pillow-top bed, TV, large closet, master bath with large vanity and a walk-in shower stall with rain shower head. The guest bedroom also has a pillow-top king bed, TV, large closet and a private full bath with tub and shower.
There is a huge screened porch (16 x 48 ft) that overlooks the salt marshes. The screen porch has a wicker breakfast table outside the master bedroom French doors where you can enjoy your morning coffee, 2 sofas, 6 rockers and chairs, dining table that seats 8, and a beverage refrigerator. Even if the weather is bit cool or stormy you can enjoy the screened porch when you lower the canvas and isenglass panels.
Imagine stepping out onto the back deck and soaking in the 4 person hot tub while sipping wine and gazing at the stars overhead. There is a patio area with a gas grill where you can grill your fresh seafood and a boiling pot to cook up the local lowcountry favorite, Frogmore Stew. There is a large open deck area and a picket fence surrounds the beautifully landscaped yard. There is a parking area for your boat trailer or extra vehicle. For your trips to the nearby beach, we have sand chairs, beach towels, coolers, and picnic baskets available for your use.
The cottage is only 4 miles from all major amenities and only 5 miles from historic downtown Beaufort where you can have lunch outside by the riverfront park, take a carriage ride, shop, sit by the water and watch the boats and even see a dolphin or two pass by. Savannah, Charleston or Hilton Head are all within +- an hour and a half drive for easy day trips; Visit Fort Sumter and other Civil War historical sites, shop on King Street or in the local open marketplace, take plantation tours, go antiquing, take a riverboat or sailing schooner tour, sit on the park bench where Forrest Gump sampled his box of chocolates, and dine at restaurants including Paula Dean's Lady and Son restaurant in Savannah and the many wonderful restaurants in the Lowcountry.
The 3 miles of pristine secluded ocean beach on Hunting Island are only 15-20 minutes away. Be sure to climb the lighthouse and experience the spectacular ocean view. Watch the shrimp boats coming in with the catch of the day when you stop at the local seafood market for fresh seafood to grill for dinner. Also on your way home are roadside farm stands with fresh-picked fruits and vegetables. If you have a boat or kayaks there is a public launch just 2 miles away. There is a golf course less than 1 mile away.
To make your visit most pleasurable, our property manager lives on site in a detached apartment and will be here to welcome you upon your arrival and make sure you are comfortable. She can provide information on local dining and attractions. She is a Licensed Massage Therapist, NCBTMB. To make your stay even more memorable, she also offers, at an additional charge, in-house massage starting at $60 an hour.
Pets will be considered on an individual basis and will require an additional cleaning fee and deposit. The yard is fully fenced and there is a doggy door from the screened porch to the deck area. We expect pets to be on their best behavior so that they can enjoy your vacation with you!
The months of January through May are available for monthly reservations only. If after the first of the year there are still vacancies, we will consider renting by the week during those months.

The Little Lucy Cottage is absolutely charming! We were so intrigued by the wonderful decor and relaxing view of the tidal creek. The cottage is beautifully appointed and immaculatly kept. The beds are so comfortable and fresh, each bedroom having its own full bath nearby. The common living area is great for reading, watching TV, or listening to great music, as is the expansive porch that runs the length of the cottage and overlooks the creek. The kitchen is well-equipped and so intimate, a real treat to prepare meals. However, the Beaufort area has so many great restaurants and interesting sights that one has only a small distance to go to find lots to do and experience. We also enjoyed the quiet neighborhood for walking and bike-riding, as well as golfing within a mile. Although the owners were a great resource for information prior to our visit, one only had to take a few steps to find the on-site caretaker who was also very warm and helpful. Overall, this is one of the most relaxing and lovely places we've ever stayed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We were so fortunate to spend seven wonderful days at The Cottage on Little Lucy Creek. From the minute we drove in the driveway you could just see the owners have spared no expense to make this house a real home. From the gorgeous antiques to the modern high end appliances this home has it all and at the same time it has a real comfortable & cozy feel to it. We spent our days exploring the nearby town of Beaufort, driving to Gay's Seafood to buy the catch of day and ended every day with watching the tide from the relaxing hot tub. Words cannot describe how absolutely beautiful this home really is! This was by far the most relaxing and wonderful vacation we ever had. Too bad we left our little Taffy at home she would have loved it too! We will be booking two weeks next year for sure!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Your jaw drops open as soon as you enter the house, and look at the most beautifully designed and decorated home you could ever wish to stay in. My husband turned to me, and smiled, stating "nice pick honey!" Our (2) English Springer Spaniels were immediately at home, as this is such a dog friendly house. The view of the marshes in the back yard take your breath away, and the back deck jacquzzi was a nice relaxing bonus to help us unwind at the end of the day.I spent much of my time just looking at the exquisite details in this home, no expense was spared and no details were overlooked. It is close to Hunting beach, and downtown historic Beaufort. The walk-in roman shower off the master suite was terrific (best shower I ever had)!!! I would highly recommend this home to anyone (esp. if you have pets), and we plan on staying there again!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were looking for a chance to relax and unwind over a long weekend and the cottage and views made that possible. This was our first get away with a young infant (3 mo.) the well-equipped kitchen and washer and dryer made the trip a lot easier. Everything about the place exceeded our expectations. The screened in porch was fabulous and the view of the marsh was just incredible. The area, although residential, had very little traffic and was great for early morning or late afternoon walks. We didn't bring the dog with us because of logistics, but loved knowing we could. This is truly an outstanding place! Would recommend this to two couples traveling together, girls get-away or a family with very young (infant) or older kids because of the decor and all of the amazing attention to detail. The house was a great base for touring the area - Beaufort and beaches.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This is a fabulous vacation rental with access to the best in "Low Country-South Carolina." The home is furnished with exceptional quality amenities, including a secluded hot tub that we made the most of on the breezy Summer evenings. Total comfort. There is nothing more to ask for; it is not to be missed if you are into coastal cuisine and Southern Hospitality. Beaufort is a ten-minute drive and the beach is a short drive as well. We feasted on fresh local shrimp and scallops, right off the boats, and took advantage of most of the local venues. Views are awesome. Can't wait to return!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week between Christmas and New Year's Day with our two boys, ages 10 and 8, in The Cottage on Little Lucy Creek. The cottage was a terrific home away from home. It has beautifully appointed and comfortable bedrooms and a welcoming enclosed "outdoor" room facing the creek. The cottage is a little outside of town in a quiet neighborhood, yet a short 10 minute drive to reach stores and restaurants. I found the kitchen to have every utensil, appliance and dish one might need to cook a Thanksgiving feast or backyard BBQ. My family found it hard to leave and we are already plotting our return. Thank you for sharing your home.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

While we have been to Beaufort many times over the years this was the first time we had spent a month there. The cottage exceeded our expectations and the owners were extremely easy to work with and did everything they could to make our visit an enjoyable one. It was like staying in your own home and not in a vacation rental since Kathy ( owner ) has a knack for interior design and surrounds you with her beautiful antique collection. If you are looking for a home away from home after visiting Charleston, Savannah, Fripp Island, and other local communities during day trips this is your place. We have already booked another month in 2013 and can't wait to return to this oasis in the Winter months.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Wow - what a wonderful place to stay. The pictures, although great, do not do it justice. It was in a perfect location - close to downtown Beaufort, Port Royal, Hunting Island. Charleston and Savannah were a short distance away. The furnishings and decor were outstanding and we loved sitting out on the beautiful screened porch in the morning drinking our coffee. The owners were very nice and accommodating. Lots of restaurants close by and if you love seafood you will be in heaven. Wish we could have stayed longer. Went in early November and the weather was perfect - 70-75 degrees during the day and no humidity!! Very pet friendly also.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This property is perfect for adult couples, peaceful and relaxing. Immaculate and so well equipped in all respects, and what a nice view of the marsh. Great furnishings and excellent kitchen. A perfect cottage for just hanging out on a cloudy or chilly day. It is away from the bustle of the town yet easy access to Beaufort and the beaches. We had a great visit and would surely return when again in the low country.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: This is from a trip to Hunting Island in late October 2012. My husband Jim is holding Murphy Martin -- our little special needs miniature dachshund. We tried to get a photo of both of us with our 3 dogs but that didn't go so well. Maybe next time. Hunting Island is one of our favorites place and we have included several photos so you can see how special it is. We are from northern Indiana right on the Michigan line so being able to go to the beach almost all year 'round is quite a treat. We visit the cottage several times a year and feel we are so very fortunate to have this experience. We built our cottage as a getaway and a place for friends and family to visit. We vacation at the cottage now and plan to retire there when that time comes. The quiet and serenity allows us to totally unwind. We both enjoy photography so the views of the marshes and all the birds and wildlife are wonderful for us. We also very much enjoy any water activities so we especially feel at home here. When we built the cottage we had 5 (yes, 5!) dogs who all made the trip to South Carolina from Indiana with us. They all get so excited when the suitcases start to appear because they know they're heading to the cottage. Not all of our guests bring their pets, but we do enjoy being able to provide a cottage that is pet friendly where others can bring their pets on vacation with them if they want.
Why the Owner Chose Beaufort:
We built our cottage on Little Lucy Creek because we absolutely fell in love with the Lowcountry area. We have family in the area which makes it even more special. This is our getaway special place. Sometimes we will sit on the screened porch and read or just enjoy the view of the salt marshes all day. My favorite day is coffee and newspapers on the porch in the morning, staying in my lounging pajamas and curling up on the porch ALL DAY with a good book, and ordering take-out dinner in the evening; it is a special day where I can relax and unwind like no other experience I've ever had. Other times we enjoy taking trips to Savannah or Charleston for dinner, visiting friends in Hilton Head, antiquing or visiting the many historical locations. There are still many special places we haven't visited.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We have had many family gatherings at the cottage. With the huge screened porch we are able to entertain a large group with ease. Last year my husband's cousin and family stayed at the cottage while the whole family was involved in the annual Loggerhead turtle nesting and rescue program. The kids had a ball and said it was the best vacation ever! You can spend one day at the beach sunning and swimming and the next day be in Charleston for fine dining and shopping. There is no end to the historical places to visit, restaurants, the shrimp festival, the water festival, Oktoberfest, and on and on. Or you can do absolutely nothing all day and end your day with a glass of wine while gazing at the stars while relaxing in the hot tub.
