'Aerie' is a beautiful summer retreat set high above Frenchman Bay’s rocky coast with stunning panoramic views of Mount Desert Island and the Skillings River. It sits on 4 acres with 200’ of impressive shore front and is sun-filled from morning until night. Perched high above the bay, every room looks out over the treetops. The cottage is very spacious with a large living/dining area and a smaller library with a fireplace. The three bedrooms sleep six in total, and there is overflow space in the loft for two more. The master suite has its own entrance, dressing room, and private bath with a claw foot tub (also with an ocean view! ) and a separate shower with seat. Other highlights are the large 18’ x 18’ screened porch with hanging chairs and sunset views, a large (560 s.f.) deck high above the water, and a 2nd story open roof deck, perfect for breakfast. Aerie is a beautiful home! The listing was absolutely accurate and it was even more breathtaking in person. The location is perfect for a get away - you can stay at Aerie and relax with the superb view from the deck, or within a few minutes be exploring the Maine coast, antique shops, or Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The house is well stocked with not only basics, but many extras including kitchen gadgets, pillows, reading material and sea treasures found on the beach below. The owner was very responsive to our questions and made our transactions easy. I'd recommend Aerie to any group looking for a getaway. My hope is that I'll be able to go back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed your stay! I love filling the house with unique local items for guests to enjoy, and I have fun writing suggestions of activities, restaurants, and galleries for visitors to try. Love to have you back, anytime.

In mid-May we had a restorative stay in this serene and lovely home. Aerie is large and well laid out with gorgeous rooms but we found it very cozy for two. It is thoughtfully stocked with everything imaginable for cooking or comfort. We spent hours on the deck taking in the views, watching the water by day and then stargazing at night. Lobster boats chugging by, loons calling and an eagle even flew right over my head! Most days it was hard to tear ourselves away from the house but it is in a beautiful area. Lots of exploring to do, scenic rides, great walks, Maine crafts to purchase, and of course tasty local foods. Our stay was like a deep calming breath. We hope to return!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

DO get your groceries BEFORE you arrive at Aerie (don't forget the wine) because you will NOT want to leave once you get there! If you are looking for peace and tranquility, yet, some fine dining and culture close by, Aerie is the creme de la creme of places to stay! The MORE THAN ample stocked home offers comfy and cozy sophistication with views to DIE FOR. Wood fires to cry for.... beds and blankies to Sigh for. You will want for NOTHING! It is so adequately equipped with just about EVERYTHING you could possibly need or want. A multitude of dishes, pots, pans, utensils (many so cool and whimsical), linens, blankets, dvds, cds, stereo, fireplace/firewood, matches, really NICE bbq grill, lobster steaming pots, outdoor furniture, the softest/most plush towels, bicycles, helmets, the list is endless!!! Washer/Dryer....Every detail tended to. The property managers: just a phone call away. We can't WAIT to go back!! So Bright and Airy (Aerie)....even on the dreariest, rainy day! There's NOTHING not to like!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities.

"We had a relaxing, fun time here. The home has everything you need. The kitchen is well-equipped, and has a lot of great gadgets. We christened the lobster pot one evening, and had a fun time playing board games. Pictionary became a quick favorite. A true home away from home! The only bad part of the week was having to leave on Saturday!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

"We've really enjoyed the week in your house. Perfect! The view is fantastic and the interior of the house is beautiful. There's everything you need: to cook, to bake, to play, to read... Thank you so much! If it's possible we also want to return, although it's a big journey from Germany..."Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
