We had a terrific time here. The grounds are lovely, full of herbs, flowers, and fruit trees. There's plenty of great places to sit (complete with chairs) outside to take in the spectacular views of the valley. Inside, the kitchen was perfect to prepare a few gourmet meals. The cupboards were well stocked with spices, and the grill outside worked perfectly. We brought an air mattress so that each of us could have our own bed. If we had had a couple with us, the master bedroom would have been more than comfortable for 2 people. Overall, great house. The pictures can't possible do it justice.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Once we mastered the stairs and caught our breath, we were awestruck by the views and the cozy atmosphere of the house. Heather was quick to respond to some early questions that we probably could have figured out by reading the "house book" regarding the heating. We looked forward to arriving each evening with a bottle of wine we discovered on our day's wandering and some cheese and assorted foods we picked up at the local Safeway. The covered porch is definitely the best spot in the house, with wonderful views from up "in the trees" and comfortable seating for recalling the day's activities. This rental is a WINNER if you are looking for a central location for a wine country adventure. We visited the Russian River Valley, the Dry Creek area, the Sonoma and Napa valleys all within just a few minutes drive. Would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife and I stayed at this property with another couple for a 5 day wine country vacation. It was so nice to be able to come home to this relaxing property after a long day. The house is better than described, and the view of the valley is 10x better than what you can see here in the pictures. We spent most all our time on the porch hanging out, playing games, and enjoying the beautiful weather. Also, don't let the many comments here about the stairs deter you from renting this house. Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but it wasn't nearly as bad as we were thinking it was going to be. All-in-all, a wonderful property that we wouldn't hesitate to rent again or refer to friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We as a family enjoyed staying in this house for 2 nights. House was kept very clean and excess towels and sheets were provided. Loved the layout of the house. Russian river is close by and also the town. The house has a beautiful forest as the backyard. Can enjoy the silence at any time of the day. Would love to come back and spend some more time... House was very cold when we entered, but after an hr, it was cozy and comfortable.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

we stayed during a girls weekend where we participated in the sonoma food and wine experience. the location is GREAT if you're planning on sticking around the sonoma region. it is very close to downtown healdsburg and quite secluded. the road leading up to the house is quite windy, very glad we were told to not use a limo for our car service :) i really enjoyed the privacy it provided and the stairs leading up to the house really weren't that many. the house is fabulous on the inside and very clean. i will admit, due to it being in the mountains we did have a handful of run-ins with bugs (spiders, centipedes) but all in all i would 100% recommend this rental to anyone. had a great time and can't wait for the next visit! :) thanks again for sharing your place! cheers!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owners were very helpful, everything went smooth, deck is awesome, great views and great location. Just wanted a t.v. upstairs, but owner said that is the next thing to do. We had a wonderful vacation. I would recommend this to a young family, couples, you name it...just not for someone with bad knees or hips. Great deal!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Beyond a tiny mix up getting welcome material, we had an absolutely wonderful stay here. I was racing the Vineman down in Windsor and my fiance and I decided to stay for a few nights before the race. We only wished we could have stayed longer. We loved having morning coffee on the porch looking out at the view. And the pictures definitely do not do this place justice. There were 52 stairs to the front door, but I managed them immediately after 140.6 miles, albeit slowly, so they are fine. Working with Heather was easy and she was so helpful. Thank you so much for our stay here. Hopefully we'll be back some day!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We'd like to thank you for opening your amazing home to us and our friends for a weekend stay in the wine country. The entire home is beautifully appointed and it is very apparent that it was decorated and designed with a special touch. The photos you'll see on this site are great, but believe me, they do not do this place any justice. Our trip was extra special as a result of staying here and we'll definitely be back.Owner response: I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and visit to Healdsburg! Thank you for the feedback about the photos not being anywhere near as nice as the real thing...we agree :)

I can't say enough good things about our stay. We were in the house for three weeks in May 2011, as my son completed his last semester prior to our moving to the East coast. The house is spotless and very well stocked for family living. Great views from Fitch Mountain, with spectacular sunsets. Darnell, an owner and property manager, was very helpful and available. We really appreciated the hospitality we received. Thank you Darnell.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: It helps to have awesome and easygoing guests. The house certainly does have great views. Please come back to Healdsburg again soon!

I was in Healdsburg for a wedding at the Villa Chaticleer, and this house turned out to be the perfect find right next to the Villa. There's plenty of room for two couples and the two floors give you just enough privacy. The view is spectacular and the radiant floors are a nice touch. Instead of going out in the square, we ended up staying in and eating dinner out on the beautiful deck. The kitchen was stocked with all the essentials and we took advantage of the BBQ in the back. Only caveat, if you're in fragile health, the stairs up to the house may be an issue. For the average person, it's no problem at all...especially if you're from San Francisco! Thanks!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Deciding to stay at the house for dinner seems to be a common theme...it's a place you don't really want or need to leave once you're there.

About the owner: We are a couple from San Francisco who have long loved the Russian River valley and Healdsburg in particular. Sharing this place with others is a pleasure and a privilege for us.
Why the Owner Chose Healdsburg:
It's a well-situated, peaceful getaway with stunning views & incredible craftsman detail. Healdsburg & the Russian River wineries are still intimate & small, yet sophisticated.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
At the end of the paved road and up in the trees, time slows down and life feels quieter here -- but then Healdsburg food, shopping & wineries are 7 minutes away.
