Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2006
Currently, I live in Santa Barbara, CA. where I am director of an Early Start Program – special education for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families - and a Newborn Home Visiting Program, "Welcome Every Baby". My love for the ocean and tropical horticulture brought me to California from Colorado, by way of Vermont and Seattle.
Why the Owner Chose Kehena
An old skiing friend from Colorado invited me to visit him on the Puna Peninsula and introduced me to all of the wonders of this special corner of Big Island. Finally, after years of working hard and saving, I was able to buy a house being built by a couple of local men, who then became island friends. Every one i had occasion to do some business with ended up being part of the same big family of friends. That was the bonus of getting a place in Puna. That and the trades, and the rainbows, and the exquisite color of blue of the ocean . I still work in Santa Barbara because i like my work, but i love to play in Puna. And until i move over, I'd like to share my house so that others can dive into the relaxation the island offers.
