There are 3 reasons why you'll want to stay in The Pearl. Location, location, location. Unfortunately, there are no hotels in the Pearl District. Our luxury condo is located in the heart of The Pearl next to Jamison Park and directly on the street car line. The silent street car stops across the street and will efficiently take you wherever you’d like to go. You’ll find countless eateries within a few blocks in all directions as The Pearl is home to many of Portland’s best restaurants. There’s Italian, Japanese, Chinese, French and classic Pacific Northwest cuisine pretty much outside your door. We’ve got menus available for most in the condo along with reviews. Portland Monthly magazine’s “Best Picks” selected many of our favorites right here in our neighborhood. It's no accident that many of the descriptions in the other listings make mention that they are "near" The Pearl. It is the hottest place to be in Portland.
If you’d rather go out for coffee than make some fresh in-house with our deluxe grinder/brewer, we’ve got Starbucks across the street, Lovejoy Bakery out the back door to the left and Cloud 7 in the park to the right out the rear exit. If it’s dessert you crave, within a block or two is home made ice cream at Cool Moon or if you’d prefer gelato, it’s down the street at Via Delizia or a brief streetcar ride to Mio Gelato, with drinkable chocolate and other chocolate extravaganza’s at Sweet Masterpiece.
No stay in Portland is complete without a visit to Powells, the largest book store in the U.S. Just a 6 minute walk or hop on the street car for 3 stops.
The Pearl has evolved to be a boutique and shopping paradise. There’s Patagonia and REI for the hardcore outdoor enthusiast along with boutiques, antique shops, galleries and specialty stores too numerous to mention.
The street car can take you directly to the Cultural district, about a 10 minute ride, where you’ll find the Portland Museum, concert halls, movie theaters and Portland State University.
If you haven’t heard about NW 23rd Street – you’ll want to check out that area as well. On a nice day, it's a delightful walk as it’s only 13 blocks away but you’ll want to return on the street car given all the packages you’ll be carrying. Before the Pearl evolved, it was THE shopping street in town. With an ambiance similar to Manhattan's Greenwich Village, this boutique enclave is scattered with unique shops, restaurants and cafes, with larger national stores moving in as well. You’ll find William Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Renovation Hardware and Smith and Hawkin to name a few.
A trip to The City of Roses wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Rose Gardens, the oldest public rose gardens in the U.S. And don't forget the Japanese Gardens, the Portland Zoo or the spectacular park system that Portland has to offer. There are over 5,000 acres with 30 miles of trails in Forest Park alone, promising a hike worthy of many fitness levels. If you're someone who prefers to view sporting events, we've got world class stadiums at our beautiful Rose Quarter, just on the other side of the Broadway Bridge.
It's easy to see how the Pearl has evolved to become the place to be when you're in Portland. If you're fortunate enough to be visiting any time from spring through fall, our farmers markets are a must. Our favorite is the Farmer's Market at Portland State University which is open Saturdays April-Dec from 9-2. Just hop on the street car and you'll be there in a few minutes. Don't forget to bring along a canvas sack to carry home your treasures. We've got a few in the guest closet for you to borrow for all your shopping needs. Please use and enjoy, compliments of Luxury in the Pearl, a Bisphenol-A free water bottle when you're out and about. Portland is a pioneer in the green movement so you'll find many eco-friendly products throughout the condo.

Why the Owner Chose Pearl District
We had been lifelong east coasters prior to moving to the Pacific Northwest 5 years ago. We had a pied-a-terre in Manhattan that we used regularly to take advantage of our love of the greatest city in the world. When we first moved here, we couldn't imagine not having regular access to our place in Manhattan. Then we discovered Portland, fell in love with it and moved our pied-a-terre from Manhattan to Portland. This Pacific Northwest city is delightfully walkable, clean, eco-friendly and home to the most friendly people we have ever experienced. This dynamic and vibrant city has some of the most remarkable local fresh cuisine of any city, many of which are Zagat rated and within walking distance of the condo. A short drive brings you to the famous Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area where you can enjoy recreating amongst the second largest river in the country, the spectacular Cascade mountains and breathtaking waterfalls. Now, we can't imagine having our pied-a-terre any place else.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
We love being in the heart of The Pearl where there's endless stimulation and creative opportunities. We love being able to walk to just about everything or hop on the street car without worrying about parking. The hiking is fabulous, be it in nearby Forrest Park, or the esplanade which allows for a a walk along the river from one end of Portland to the other. The museums, the theater, the galleries, the shops and boutiques, it's one of the most clean and manageable cities in the country, unlike anywhere else we've ever visited. Until you experience Portland for yourself, it's hard to truly appreciate all it has to offer. And if you are looking for some adventures outside the city, there is a world of options, many within just 1 hr of Portland. There is unlimited and magnificent hiking throughout the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. There is world class windsurfing and kiteboarding in Hood River, one of the top ten rated places to live, work and recreate in the country. There is premier skiing on Mt. Hood. There is mountain biking, kayaking, long boarding etc. There is one cautionary note - after spending some time here, you might just want to relocate. We've made every effort to create a wonderful, luxurious retreat. Each detail has been carefully considered to provided the best amenities that you've ever enjoyed while staying away from home.
One of the best community parks in Portland. The park also contains one of the city's most popular water features, fine dining (inc. outdoor seating) and a great cafe for coffee and pastries with outdoor tables in the park.
A wonderful, peaceful meditative park with native plants and large koi pond just one block away.
A great little local organic grocer with friendly owners and all the necessities you could want. Great local organic produce, meat, wine, baked goods and all kinds of interesting special treasures.
A great neighborhood Italian restaurant. Highly rated on both Yelp and Urban Spoon.
Owner's Map of Pearl District
We are both clinical psychologists and entrepreneurs. We believe strongly in being of service to others and giving back to our communities and to the planet. We are part city and part country people. We live in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area where we enjoy living amongst the mesmerizing natural beauty that this area has to offer, but we also love the dynamism, food, culture and easy accessibility of city life. We are blessed to have regular access to both.

I have had the pleasure to stay at "Luxury in the Pearl" twice. You can have a pleasurable experience particularly because the condo is centrally located to taste and experience the flavors of Portland. The condo is beautifully decorated. I especially enjoy the thoughtful details; teas and tea hardware, soaps and household delights. The building itself is secure and architectually beautiful and substantial. I highly recommend.

Michelle has taken great care on furnishing her condo with the very finest. Appliances, linens, furniture, etc. It is really a beautiful place. You can walk out the door, walk one block and catch the trolly that will take you anywhere in the city limits. You could stay for a week - see the city, eat in fine restaurants and go to lovely museums and art galleries and not get in a car. Michelle emailed each week to let us know what was going on in the city - which is alot. The concierge was very helpful answering any question. There is a Safeway grocery store two blocks away. This place has it all. We highly recommend.
Owner response:I'm so glad you enjoyed your month at the condo Diana. I suspect lots has changed since you were in Portland years ago. I don't believe The Pearl district was even developed at that time. Glad you had good weather and could escape the heat of Florida. I have to agree about the public transportation system. When ever I have a chance to stay at the condo myself, my car never leaves the parking garage until I have to return home. The city is also so walkable that it's a delight to wander about, going in and out of boutiques, restaurants and galleries. I look forward to hosting you again during your next visit.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying in this condo for 7 days in late October 2010. The location is in the middle of everything you want to do in the Pearl and the access to other areas by either automobile or street car were perfect. We have stayed in rental homes from Rome to Lake Como to New York to San Francisco and to various coastal units. Michelle and Sandy's home is the best located, best decorated and best appointed of any unit in which we have stayed. Everything was top of the line - the bed, the linens, the towels, the kitchen, the furniture, the television and the garage. Everything was clean, neat and worked well. The layout suited our needs. Michelle and Sandy were gracious and helpful from the time we met them at the condo until the time we left. We were completely blown away. Every morning, I went downstairs to Lovejoy Bakery and started with a New York Times, coffee and a breakfast sandwich. This was maybe 50 steps. It was a great week. As an aside, Portland is a lovely city. Luxury in the Pearl has our unqualified recommendation.

Our experience could not have been better. The condo is located in the heart of The Pearl and steps from everything! I am moving to Portland and my time there was spent looking for housing. Michelle, the owner of this condo, found out what my trip was for and went out of her way to give me suggestions and brochures on places she thought would fit my needs. She even sent along emails during the week if another place popped in her head!! They have a concierge on staff at this building which makes finding general directions or the best place for sushi a breeze. The condo is furnished with high end appliances and linens. If you desire to make a gourmet meal at home you won't be without a necessary kitchen tool! Just fantastic!! Loved every minute being in this first class condo in this first class city! If you get the chance to stay here......do it!
Owner response:Mark - It really was a pleasure having you as our guest. I'm delighted that you found the condo was everything you had hoped it would be. I look forward to your relocation to Portland and the opportunity to meet for tea.

The location of this condo can't be beat. You can exit the building and walk to shops, wine bars, restaurants, parks, the streetcar, Powell's, the river walk, 23rd Street, Safeway - just about everything you'd need on vacation. We stayed here for a month and never felt like we needed a car. The condo itself is immaculate. It's filled with everything to make you feel at home but not make you feel like you're in someone else's home. The owners took care to include higher end appliances and condo accessories - linens, soaps, dishes, etc... as well as little perks to help a visitor - local guide books and magazines. Portland is a great city. We enjoyed exploring the different neighborhoods, hiking in Forest Park, running on the river, eating out a lot, and relaxing in the nearby parks. Day trips are also very easy as Avis is not too far away. I also want to mention that there is a full time concierge in the building who will do just about anything to help you out from making reservations to recommending things to do in the city. We had a wonderful time at this condo and would definitely recommend it to anyone!
Owner response:We always try to make an effort to anticipate the needs of our guests. Our attention to detail has always been something that sets us apart from other rentals. So glad you enjoyed your time in Portland. It's a terrific city and as you've pointed out, very easily navigated. Coming from the New York City area myself, I never thought I'd be content in any other city but Portland has definitely stolen my heart. Joey, our head concierge, is such a gift to the building. He adds a delightful personal touch that is appreciated by everyone. It does sound like you've hit the high points but there's always more to discover here in the Pacific Northwest. Each season brings new possible adventures.

Luxury in the Pearl is a home away fromhome! My husband and I stayed at thecondo for 5 weeks while I recovered froma kidney transplant. We spent a lot oftime at the condo...believe me! I wasstuck on the couch or in bed most of thetime. There are so many wonderful things aboutthis place. Just to list a few greatthings...Location - it's walking distance to allthe great restaurants and shops. Thestreet car stop is right across thestreet and it's free if within the PearlDistrict (note: we never paid even iftraveling outside the Pearl...no onechecks). Another plus (at least for me)is that the hospital is on the streetcarline and walking distance. It made itsuper easy for me to go to my earlymorning dr's appts.Condo - it's fairly new with high endfixtures and a fully equipped kitchenwith top of the line appliances.Fortunately my husband (aka - my nurse)is a great cook...we definitely did ourshare of cooking during our stay.Portland is known for their Farmer'sMkts...which we took full advantage of.The condo is also furnished with nicefurniture (super comfy! king size bed inthe bedroom and a cozy queen size murphybed in the study) and artfullydecorated. I also want to mention thatthere's a concierge in the lobby thatcan help with anything and everything. We really felt that we were not far fromhome. It's such a wonderful place. Iwould definitely recommend this place tofriends and family.

This is a fabulous condo right in the center of the Pearl District. We spent 2 weeks and wished for more. We originally hoped to use the kitchen, but with so many great pubs and restaurants and coffee shops in the neighborhood, who had the time?

What great lodgings in a great location. Smartly and artily appointed, with great kitchen, views galore, and a very nice media center. We never bothered using the car over a 4 night stay, with great public transit just outside the door. And don't get me started on the fabulous shopping and restaurants nearby. Well worth a stay!

Luxury in the Pearl is truly that! The condo is beautifully appointed with everything you need for your comfort and is aesthetically pleasing. The owners even provide an umbrella which you will inevitably need in the Pacific Northwest! The location is perfect for city walks, fine restaurant access, and just across the street from a street car stop. The Pearl is a quiet part of Portland, no city noises, just city ambiance. The neighbors are friendly, the owners bend over backwards to make your visit grand. We stayed 2 1/2 weeks and would definitely return.
