This is our 2nd Christmas holiday stay at the Tatanka Beach House and our 6th trip to Hawaii. For anyone who is seeking a very special, secluded hideaway with character that is right on the beach, then this is the place. We recommend it VERY HIGHLY, and we have had the opportunity to visit many other wonderful places around the world. We are just finishing a two-week stay that has been simply delightful. We were joined this year by our two adult sons, their wives, and our 12-month old and 18-month old grandsons. Since last year, Taunia, the owner, has made significant improvements, including totally rebuilding and enlarging the already spacious deck, adding very nice new deck furniture, building a large privacy fence, installing a new washer and dryer, adding hot water to the outside shower, and redoing a lot of the fabrics in the central living room. Moloa'a Bay is a totally unique spot. The beach is known to locals, but is hard to find and has very limited parking and overnight camping is not allowed, so it is very private. The Tatanka Beach House, with the best location on the Bay, has huge picture windows and sliding glass doors that open on to the lanai with a view of the bay and the surf. Last year from the deck we watched many whales breaching just outside the Bay. Although the house has an old-style Hawaiian plantation feel, it is equipped with modern electronics, so you have Wi-Fi high speed internet, satellite TV, and a great stereo available to you. Taunia has also installed a cell phone booster unit for use with Verizon communications. On the other hand, the house has a great collection of books, so you can just relax on the lanai with a good book and shut out the rest of the world. While the photos on the Web site are accurate, they provide only a two-dimensional view of the location that cannot capture the true, wonderful spirit of the place. However, if you talk to Taunia she can give you a much more complete sense of the special nature of the beach house that is her retreat from a bison ranch in Montana. Our younger son and his wife are yoga fans so each morning they would go north to Hanalei for a world-class yoga session. They also enjoyed a tour of the Hindu temple that is west of Kapa'a. Our other son and his wife were thrilled by a helicopter ride from the Princeville airport and surfing lessons in Hanalei. We enjoyed walks on Moloa’a Road, spending time on the beach, and hiking up the hill on the north side of the Bay.

We are just completing a 10 night stay at the Tatanka Beach House. This place is THE BEST on Moloa'a Bay. Our kids had a blast playing out front on the beach. What is so nice about staying here rather than a resort is that you set your own agenda.... not that you really need one because doing absolutely nothing but relax and enjoy are the only two things to do on Kaua'i. - The listing description was very accurate and it is an easy drive from the airport. - The photo's are great but only show a fraction of the beauty of this place. (Of course, too many photos would ruin the surprise!) - The property was very clean and well maintained! The deck looks like it had a "make over" and looks great! - My wife made the arrangements for our stay but said that Taunia was very nice to speak to on the phone. - Recommend?!?!? ABSOLUTELY!!! I'm making and list of people right away! - The activities we would recommend - snorkeling (bring your own gear or rent), hiking, go on a snorkel trip with Holo-Holo Charters out of Port Allen, commune with the locals and find out where they like to get away from the tourists, or if you don't like to do any of these things then just sit on the deck of Tatanka Beach House with a cold drink and relax! In closing, it is important for all visitors to Kaua'i that it is against the law to bring cares, worries, issue, problems, etc. onto the island. Leave these "items" on the plane and enjoy your stay at the Tatanka Beach House!!!!

My 2 week stay in Moloa'a Bay's beach house was my rebirth. The opportunity to... -walk out on the beach & splash right into cool clear waters -feel my hair flowing in the sea breeze, able to take in the fresh salty air laced with tropical-flower aroma -feel the warm sun gently caress my skin, while sipping on a cool drink -achieve oneness with the unspoiled serenity enveloping the bay, were all life ultering moments for me. This is the ideal place to reflect on at later times when wishing to destress from the hurried life style I must maintain. I close my eyes & I am back there. I hear the waves splashing onto the beach, I feel the breeze cool me gently- a warm serenity comes over me & I then fall asleep. Thank you Taunia & Chris.
