Tree House and Yurt on Cle Elum River
Year Purchased: 1999
Why the Owner Chose Roslyn
On my first visit to Washington State in the early 70's, I landed my all-time favorite job with the Department of Natural Resources in these mountains. A few years later I went to design school and ended up creating two interior design firms that I operated for 25 years. In the meantime I backpacked and snowshoed extensively and in the process, realized that there were no mountains more beautiful (maybe equally beautiful) than the ones right here! One evening after a weekend snowshoe in the high country of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, I decided I wanted to have a postage-sized piece of property with a small cabin somewhere high on a mountain side as a home base for mountain exploration. Instead, I ended up with a lot more than I bargained for; a 30 year long dream of land with a river running through it, giant boulders, 360 degree mountain top views and even fresh water springs bubbling out of the ground cascading into the river as a waterfall!
The Unique Benefits at this Tree House and Yurt on 14 Acre
Everything about being in this sacred spot is unique. From standing on the deck of the yurt watching Class V kayakers navigate their way down the river underneath you, to watching mountain goats in the peaks above you, diving off the rocks into the glacial Cle Elum river, fishing in the multitude of fishing holes for a Brook Trout dinner, all night singing, music playing and laughing around the fire pit(s), cooking and eating with friends and family in the outdoor kitchen/picnic area with the fire blazing next to you for a marshmallow s'more dessert. You even experience the joy of "having" to go to the bathroom (believe it or not) so you can sit in the designer outhouse and be drawn in by the ruggedness of Goat Mountains!
A place so beautiful it is like hiking onto another planet. This backpack trip is so sought after you now have to get a pass to enter.
This old miners town is 20 miles from the property and is the place where "Northern Exposures" was filmed. Here you will find the oldest operating tavern,The Brick, complete with running spittoon and a
