This is a wonderful family home that sits on the top-of-the-ridge at the Running Y. The rear deck of the house faces down the ridge to the golf course and the front faces the lake. The house is located in in a cul-de-sac in one of the most desirable locations of the ranch. This cul-de-sac on the ridge has a group of wonderful neighbors who built their homes when these most desirable lots were available. It is a quiet neighborhood with access to all the hiking and biking trails right from the home.
We had this home with three car garage built for us in 1998 by one of the finest local builders to be our luxurious retirement home. Work called us to another location so you may enjoy a really special place in the Oregon Cascades.
The Running Y Ranch was owned by the Disney family before it was purchased for a destination resort ranch. The Disney's enjoyed the 10,000 acre historic working cattle ranch because of the abundant wildlife that has been on this property for centuries. Deer will lay in the backyard and you will see geese, eagles and an occasional cougar. Don't worry - they are very timid!!
The Running Y marsh is an area where birds and water fowl are counted annually because of their number that fly through on the pacific fly-way. Bring your binoculars because birds are everywhere. Last year we even had an eagle nest nearby.
In addition to the home, there is an apartment with a separate entrance that can be rented if your group is larger than will fit into the main home. The apartment has one bedroom, bath, kitchen, living and dining area plus a deck of its own. There is a double bed and in the living room a sofa bed and a large chair that houses a single bed, so it can sleep 5. The cost to rent the apartment is $100/day.

- 1) Fishing - 5 Pound Plus Rainbow Trout caught regularly right from the shore at the bottom of the ridge below the house. 2) World class fly fishing for the adventurous in the Williamson and Wood rivers 1/2 hour away. 3) Hiking and biking trails leaving from the house encircle the entire ranch. 4) Volleyball courts, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts near the fitness and pool center. Pick up equipment at the fitness center. 5) Pool, hot tub, sauna and wading pool as well as a gym located at the fitness center. 6) 1st class spa and massage center as well as salon. 7) pool table, air hockey, car racing game at game room of fitness center 8) Grass miniature golf course (putting course), putting greens and pitching greens as well as a driving range are located at the golf clubhouse. 9) Canoe and kayak rentals at the Running Y Marsh (temporarily unavailable). 10) Sailboat, power boat and fishing boat rentals at the Klamath Lake marina.

Why the Owner Chose Klamath Falls
Our favorite part of the Running Y is the amazing wildlife. This ranch was owned by the Disney family as a get-a-way before it was sold to become a resort ranch. The wildlife that has lived on this ranch undisturbed for 100's of years includes deer, coyote, golden and bald eagles as well as owls woodpeckers, geese and even a wandering cougar. Guests are asked to respect the wildlife as deer and birds will often be within feet and are accustomed to their freedom.
The Unique Benefits at this Home
This property has access to all the wilderness surroundings of the Cascade mountain range. The Pacific Crest Trail travels close to this location. Crater Lake, considered one of the natural wonders of America, is a little more than an hour away. In the winter, I have cross country skied from this house, down the ridge for a full morning or afternoon of skiing and return to the house. There is also a wonderful hill (hole #9) for sledding when snow is deep enough!

We chose to build our home and live at the Running Y Ranch 10 years ago. It is the most beautiful mountain resort with golf course, abundant wildlife and some of the finest people we've ever met. We built this home to raise our family and plan to return when we retire. Right now we have been called away to another location, but look forward to returning as soon as we can! In the meantime, you can enjoy this very special place at our home!

First and foremost, your house is wonderful, we would love to stay again. Wonderful bread – perfect for coffee and watching the birds. (Owner gifts a loaf of Finnish pulla to each group of guests.) I like the pantry. It’s a working space that you don’t really have to clean up – just close the doors. It is well stocked and quite useful for long term stays. Compared to the 6 VRBOs that I have stayed at, you are very generous. The home was very clean. The bedding and linens are first class. The bathroom supplies were more than what I would get/expect from a hotel. Your kitchen had all the supplies that I could use. We made use of your plastic ware for our on-the-go lunch. This type of stuff was convenient for us. I expect that those who stay at your house to enjoy the resort would not need this. Other homes I have stayed at roughly the same price were much more sparse. They tended to be sparsely furnished, not as clean, or in some cases stocked with older sets of kitchenware . The only appliances tended to be a coffee maker and a microwave. My only concern was that your home was so complete that I hope you never have an abusive renter.
