Gem in Centro
Gem in Centro
This is really a nice place and a bargain for the price. The Colonial is very spacious with very high ceilings. It has a well equipped kitchen and comfortable furniture throughout. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. One of the best features is the beautiful outdoor patio within the interior of the house. Everyday we stayed there, we would enjoy coffee on the patio and listen to the birds and enjoy the fresh air. Internet access is fast and there is a tv with a small selection of stations. The location is very interesting - right in the heart of Centro. Go out the front door and to your right is the Cathedral 2 blocks away. The Mercado less than 3 blocks, Ley Supermarket about 4 blocks and towards the opposite direction is Plaza Machado about 5 blocks away. In the mornings I enjoyed doing my stretches in the patio, then going for a run enjoying the buildings and sights in Centro and winding up at Olas Altas and the Malecon where I could run along the ocean. Olas Altas is only about a 10 minute walk away. Because of the location, buses, taxis and pulmonia's are readily available to get you around if you want to go beyond Centro, such as to to Golden Zone or the Lighthouse. I have been vacationing in Mzt the past 15 of 17 years in Feb and have enhanced my trips recently by renting a house in Centro in addition to my time share exchange in the Golden Zone. This way I can stay 10 days and have some overlap between the two areas. This was my 3rd time renting a different place in Centro. It is a great experience, the only down side is it can be a little noisy at night with the sound of barking dogs, motorcycles, buses and vehicles, but you will get that anywhere in Centro. That is the only reason I rated this "Good" instead of "Excellent". I recommend this Colonial and because of the size and number of bathrooms, it will easily accommodate a large group or family. If you have never stayed in Centro, you have a big treat to look forward to. By the way, be sure to check out nearby Athina Spa for the best massage in Mazatlan for only 240 pesos. :)

About the owner: I am a semi-retired social worker, and a mother of three daughters. We are settled in various parts of the county, and all of us enjoy uniting in Mazatlan, and practicing our Spanish (not to speak of eating at the many nearby fine restaurants, walking along the ocean, and visiting Stone Island beach).
Why the Owner Chose Mazatlan:
I am a total fan of Mexico and of the Ocean and I am excited that I have been able to combine both loves in a house in Mazatlan
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I like being in a Mexican neighborhood, where I can speak Spanish and not have any confusion about what country I am in! I walk to the market at least every other day to buy my fresh produce and meat, and plan what restaurant I will visit next. The walks along the Malecon work off the extra calories. I have come to appreciate the expat community as well as my Mexican neighbors.
