“Casa Montana” on the shimmering east shore of the Sea of Cortez is our special retreat from a busy world. Located in the gated, relaxed community of Villas California, it is where Sonoran Desert meets the Sea. Just minutes away, nestles the charming, gringo-friendly town of San Carlos offering marinas, deep sea fishing adventures, a casual l8-hole golf course, an array of dining options from family owned taquerias to seafood and steak restaurants, Mexican art and crafts shopping and more.
We wanted our casa to be a Mexican-style home - and so it is! From its sturdy brick and stucco walls, its arched doorways, locally-made floor tile throughout, with colorful hand painted talavera tile in the kitchen and bathrooms. The visitor enters the property through a lush palm-filled courtyard, passing by a sparkling fountain. Upon opening the front door the magnificent, panorama view of ocean takes your breath away and the neutral colored, high walls, shimmering Moroccan dome and sultry ceiling fans create an exotic atmosphere that offers hospitality and calm to the weary traveler.
Each of the three neutral-colored bedrooms offers an inviting California king- size mattress with luxury bedding. Each also has its own bathroom with roomy, walk-in shower. Two bedrooms look into the verdant courtyard, while the master suite offers the ocean. Its occupants are lulled to sleep by the rhythmic rolling of the tide.
Four distinct terraces offer breathtaking views of the Sea, with the Baja beyond, magnificent sunsets, and the famous “Catch 22" Algodones Beach with its silky sand and the charming beach bar “Hang Out” known locally for its delicious cerviche and shrimp tostados! It’s our favorite place for lunch or just to hang out and watch the kite boarders skimming the waves on a breezy day. One terrace leads to the next with # 4 offering a relaxing siesta room “cave” with talavera -tiled cocktail bar.
We also wanted Casa Montana to provide a truly outdoor living experience and it does! Whether dining on terrace # l or 2, sitting reading on cozy # 3, or taking a siesta nap in # 4, you will enjoy daily outdoor living with the pelicans and dolphins. As our casa is on the water’s edge you can also enjoy kayaking, swimming and snorkeling right on your doorstep!

Casa Montana! One of my most favorite places in the world. I travel there as often as I can, and when I'm there I never want to leave. It has it all; beach front, luxury, beautiful scenery, sea kayaking, sailing, fishing, hiking, proximity to beach bars and wonderful restaurants. The house is designed with the utmost attention to detail, high ceilings, arched doorways and windows, and tropical courtyard with fountain. Can't wait for the next trip down!

Casa Montana was an absolutely beautiful experience for my wife and me. Wonderfully appointed rooms and fully equipped with every convenience. The sunsets on the bay were the most gorgeous I have ever seen. Right next door is a fine cafe for breakfast and lunch and an elegant dinner can be found in walking or, you can cook your own. I'm looking forward to our next visit!

Casa Montana has it all. Fabulous location on the shore of the Sea of Cortez facing due west with the most mesmerizing sunsets. We loved our morning walks along the beautiful algodones Beach - lunches at the cute Soggy Peso Bar. The house is perfect for entertaining on the outdoor terraces, snoozing in the open-air siesta room, happy hour watching the sun go down and being captivated by it all. Can't wait to return to Casa Montana. Bringing friends next time to go deep sea fishing!

We went for long walks down to the "Soggy Peso" beach bar, swam in the compound pool overlooking the sea, went for a fine dining meal serenaded by a local songstress and had an awesome Sunday brunch in town by the marina. Not enough time! We look forward to returning again to go fishing an do all the things we just couldn't get to. A Mexican paradise!

Stunning views, brilliant sunsets, right on the beach in a comfortable, opulant home that is beautifully decorated. You are only minutes from great places to dine and shop in the quaint village of San Carlos. A beautiful experience, one to be remembered.

We so enjoyed our stay at "Casa Montana." It is a very Beautiful, inviting,comfortable home. We literally could walk out the back steps right to the Sea of Cortez. We loved all the Awesome sunsets, walks on the beach, swimming in the ocean & truly enjoyed sitting on the back patio with the lovely view of the ocean & coastline--so relaxing. We cooked in the beautiful kitchen several times & also had great food at several of the fun restaurants near by---one right on the beach with live music. My husband went sportsfishing & loved it. The accommodations were excellent & we are looking forward to our next visit there. Wonderful experience.

We LOVED being right on the water's edge - went swimming, snorkeling, kayaking right there without having to pack everything and drive to a beach. In fact we hardly ever took the car out, except to go into San Carlos for "Tony's" fresh produce or to a restaurant in the evening. We could walk out the door and go hiking up the nearby craggy peaks or go shell seeking along the gorgeous, sandy Algodones Beach. We loved our quiet times relaxing and reading on the terrace, listening to the waves and watching the pelicans. A perfectly relaxing and memorable vacation. We definitely plan on returning to Casa Montana.

This vacation had it all! A lovely Mexican-built house on the beach with swimming, snorkeling, kayaking right on our doorstep. Having lunch at our local "Hang Out" beach bar was a frequent special treat. It was so relaxing lazing in the sun or reading a good book on one or more of the four terraces of the house while taking in the fabulous ocean view, and the breathtaking sunsets were the most romantic we've ever seen! Can't wait to go back to "Casa Montana" - the perfect getaway.
