Location: Idyllwild, Inland Empire, California, USA (2 Hours from Los Angeles and San Diego.) View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 2.5 Baths (Sleeps 12-15)
Keywords: Geodesic Dome Home, vacation home, home with view, home with hot tub,
Unlike many houses in Idyllwild that are nestled completely in the pine trees, the Dome is perched on the edge of Crestview Drive and offers vistas to the ocean on the clearest days. Watch the sun set every evening from the steamy hot tub, or adjacent deck, eat outside or in, cuddle up in front of one or all of the three interior fireplaces arranged off of the central lava rock chimney.
The living room has a soaring 26-foot ceiling that encompasses one third of the dome. The house is built adjacent to a 40-foot high rock formation that has Native American acorn grinding bowls carved into the rock at the highest point with the best views of the valley below.
Imagine standing out on the deck and watching the deer climb up from the highway below. Spend your evening gazing at the stars as they appear close enough to touch. Enjoy your moment on top of the world in the ever famous "Dome Home".
Renew your senses in our Cedar cold tub offering aroma therapy mineral oils, or ease into the hot tub resting atop the property and take in the amazing views of the valley.
There are three proper bedrooms, one master suite with a king size bed, one room with a queen, and one room with a double size bunk bed and queen bed. The den upstairs has a single and double bunk bed plus a double size futon. Two full bathrooms and one powder room downstairs. Please see more pictures on line at newspiritvacationhomes.
The kitchen has been upgraded with all new stainless steel appliances and well equipped and designed for more than one cook and a few visitors to keep them company.
It’s a twenty-minute walk to town, but why would you ever leave the property?

Why the Owner Chose Idyllwild
We love Idyllwild - the lack of downhill skiing creates a low-key, relaxed little town, and the art school adds a creative edge to the culture of the place. This is a perfect town to appreciate nature being there are no street and city lights. Regardless of your idea of enjoyments, Idyllwild is a place for anyone.
The Unique Benefits at this House
There is no place on earth like the west facing deck in the morning, except of course, the hot tub at sunset, or in the snow.......

This home is amazing!!! I love the Dome Visit Point, it was my husband birthday and I wanted to make sure I did something special, we had and amazing time. The property management left us a basket with goodies and wine, who does that? a company who cares! Sasha and Monica made sure it was prefect. We were impressed! I am a property owner too, I understand be respectful of homes and treating them like your our own. We will be back, I can highly recommend the Dome to anyone. I have already told my friends at work, what an awesome getaway the Dome point is! Thank you for making it so special!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Dome in August and while we were there he popped the question! And of course I said Yes. So we are engaged to be married next year! The Dome is an unforgettable place with amazing energy. The sun setting with views of everything offered the most romantic setting for our special moment! The house offers every comfort and the breeze in the evening going through the house is perfect. The check in and check out was a smooth transition and the girls at the office were so super sweet. We cant wait to come back to The Dome and make it a yearly tradition.

The Dome home is a beautiful home with exceptional views of the valley below. It was very open and roomy and accommodated our group well. We gave it average ratings because we stayed in the middle of summer and the home has full exposure to the afternoon sun. It is not air conditioned and even with the fans provided by the owners, it was very warm for most of the day and uncomfortable for those sleeping in the upstairs bedrooms. We also had a conflict with the management company that charged us for damages to the home after we checked out that we disputed but were unable to prove. The contract was written in a way that was open ended and lacked any specifics regarding additional charges. Anyone staying should read the contract carefully and inspect the home carefully on arrival and leaving.

The perfect balance of architectural genius and homey mountain cabin comes together here. Ikea-modern style furnishings, comfortable bedding, endless views, and a super cool wooden hot tub made for a killer stay here when we celebrated my husband's 40th birthday. I wasn't sure what to get him as a birthday present and this turned out to be the perfect gift! We hiked hard on Saturday and came home to the perfect hot tub view at sunset. All well-wishers who dropped by to celebrate his special day were totally in love with the place and asking how I'd found it, and if they could rent it too. We'll definitely be coming back, hopefully when there is snow!

I stayed here with my family. While the views were nice I was disappointed in the fact that we were unable to use the outdoor fireplace. In fact, it is unusuable. We had the fire dept up to the house after the neighbors saw us using it. They said they had been up to the house before. We couldn't understand why the owners would not have told us. Also the hot tub fits about 3 people and was not working. None of the bathrooms supplied any soap either. It did have a play area and toys which was great for kids, a well stocked kitchen was nice too. If you go, bring extra towels, soap, paper towels, trashbags. Also, be careful about renting the bunkhouse, the sink was not in working condition either. Also, you need to realize that to use an outdoor grill in Idyllwyld you need to first get a permit from the fire dept in town, wish we had been told some of these things prior to going.
Owner response:As of May of 2011, The Dome is under new ownership. You will be happy to know that the outdoor fireplace can be enjoyed by all, as it has been converted to a gas burning fireplace. Now one can cuddle up with their sweetheart and enjoy the ambiance outdoors. We now offer two tubs, one is a cold cedar tub with aroma therapy mineral oils, and a hot tub, which rests atop the property offering breathtaking valley views. To use an outdoor grill, a permit is not required with a gas grill, which is now provided. All linens are provided along with soap, paper towels and trash bags, however if you have a large party we do recommend bringing extras. Under the new management with New Spirit Vacation Rentals, we have an office in town and are more than happy to assist you at anytime.

This is a beautiful location. It is perched on one of the best locations in Idyllwild. In fact as you drive into town, you can see the Dome Home ... one of those places where drivers probably think to themselves "wow who lives up there...what a great view!" Amy the owner i think was an absolute pleasure to work with and gave 110% in terms of accommodating us! Two thumbs up!

My wife and I rented this house out with some family and ended up fitting 4 families very comfortably. The views are terrific, especially from the highest deck. Everything was very clean and ready for us to move in for the weekend. We did a 13 mile hike through the San Jacinto Wilderness and the hot tub was definitely something to look forward to... We will definitely be back!! Thank you Amy :)

We rented this "cabin" for 3 nights during spring break (2010) and LOVED it. We had 8 people (4 adults and 4 kids) and never felt cramped. Loved sitting out on the deck every morning with my cup of coffee and look out on a view that goes forever! What a way to start the day! VERY kid friendly, never felt like I had to tell the kids "don't touch that". Loved the funkiness of this house. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need. Bring your food and wood for the fireplace and you're set! Amy (the owner) was wonderful to work with. We have already talked about renting it again. Thank you for sharing your place with us.
