Charming!

Guest: Wendy (Madison, WI)
Date of Stay: 08/09/11 Review Submitted: 09/08/11

This cabin is a great place to stay. Rustic decor with modern equipment. Large bathtub in a large bathroom, great kitchen with coffee and coffeemaker provided. Microwave. Two bedrooms upstairs with a half bath in between. Big flat screen TV and large sectional sofa. New washer and dryer. Yard with fire pit. Truly minutes from the west entrance of Glacier Park. Two bars within walking distance of the cabin for a night cap (a couple minutes walk). We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again in the future.

Incredible cabin with all the amenities!

We recently stayed here for 3 nights and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. The property is clean and furnished with only the best. It is very close to GNP, river running companies and activities for all types of families. The supplies in the kitchen impressed me the most ~ you literally don't need to bring anything but food. Everything else is there: spices, coffee, containers for leftovers, etc. Our kids loved the waterfall/fish pond and we spent a lot of time outside enjoying the fire pit and backyard area. A lot of care and time was obviously spent forseeing and providing for every need.

The most luxurious log cabin we've ever stayed in!

Guest: Pam (Worden, MT)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 07/17/11

My husband, three teenage daughters and I came to see Glacier Park and the cabin was the perfect backdrop for the experience! As described in the listing, it is surrounded by a spacious lawn with a forested back border and lots of beautiful pines on the property. I loved sitting outside in the morning sun with coffee, soaking in the beautiful mountain scenery--just what we were longing for. The cabin has a wonderful sense of history about it, since it was built with huge cedar logs in the late 30's or early 40's. We all felt so spoiled by the grandeur of the cabin--the spiral staircase, the waterfall in the corner, and the balcony off the bedroom upstairs. And everything we needed was provided--even coffee! The photos of the cabin's interior in the listing really don't do the place justice. Everything was very clean and wel-maintained, and the owner was extremely helpful and hospitable. My husband and daughters found a couple of great running trails very close by and I found the most wonderful little lake about a mile away to swim in, so we were all happy. Glacier Park is just a few miles away, which is why we came, so the location is perfect. I've already recommended the cabin to my family and friends and we are planning on booking it for another trip in a couple of months.

Nice log cabin

Guest: tim (orange county california)
Date of Stay: 06/18/11 Review Submitted: 06/26/11

We stayed 7 nights during June 2011 while visiting GNP. This location was about 10 minutes from the GNP, very convenient and spacious. We loved the firepit, and greg supplied the cabin with firewood. We had wonderful time around the campfire roasting marshmallows a few nights after our days at the GNP. The kitchen is huge and stocked quite well with pots, pans, toaster, microwave and anything you need to prepare meals. The cabin has a cozy rustic feeling, and for the price you cannot beat it! The beds are a little soft, i prefer a firmer bed. I would stay here again and i would reccomend this place to others. Greg was very nice and wil answer your questions if you just ask. Thanks for a great place to stay Greg! To address some points people commented earlier about, we saw 2 dogs while we were at the cabin and they were friendly. The fish pond inside did not smell, it had about a 1/2 dozen fishes and my youngest had fun feeding them. Like any spiral staircase, you must exercise caution when using it. I thought the place smelled ok. As for the neighborhood, there were couple trailers around but we never heard the neighbors and only saw them couple times. The cabin itself sits on a spacious lot. There are 2 bars a couple blocks away, we heard the patrons on 2 different nights but only for a few minutes.

Wonderful Place

My brother and I came to snowmobile at the Bob Marshall Wilderness park. The owner Greg was very helpful with getting us this log cabin for 4 days. It was really nice and comfortable. We live in Chicago and my brother told me he really felt like being in Montana. I loved the Moose head over the chimney and the critter skins on the wall, real authentic feel. We took our sleds on some breathtaking and amazing rides. This place is wonderful and i think we will make a point to come back again. hope this review helps.

Great Times!!

Guest: John (New York)
Date of Stay: 08/18/10 Review Submitted: 03/15/11

I came here thinking that this would be like any other mountainous area, clam, relaxing, etc... This was by far an extremely pleasant surprise. First off, my wife, daughter(6yrs) and myself love to fish and river raft. We were able to go enjoy the south folk river which is about 5 min from house. We saw a lot of Eagles and critters. If you want more fun for the kids there is park 10 min away. But what we really enjoyed was this cabin. this place was amazing... it was so cozy and pleasant to come back home to, especially after a great day out in the wilderness. the big shower tub is big enough for two and the sleeping accomodations were really comfortable. My daughter wont stop talking about Montana and the Cabin. Memories of a lifetime... We are coming back for sure!!!!

We're booking out second stay

Guest: Tom (Sioux Falls, South Dakota)
Date of Stay: 08/10/09 Review Submitted: 01/10/11

We wanted to thank Greg for an exceptional stay. Not only was the cabin wonderful, and quiet, but Greg was a tremendous host. In fact the day we arrived, I locked my keys in my truck. It took him less than 30 minutes to summor a friend of his to get us taken care of. My family and I have traveled extensively and would give the cabin and the area 4 stars. We can't wait to to get back. The cabin was perfect for us, and exceeded our every expectation. The furnishings were very nice, the beds incredibly comfortable and the cabin a wonderfully rustic retreat. I read the last person's review and have to disagree wholeheartedly with the assessment and disparaging comments about the cabin and the owner. We found none of the issues that she seems to have dealt with. I would recommend this cabin, the owner and the area to anyone looking for lodging in the Glacier area. I'm in the hotel management business, so I understand the nuances of travelers and customer service. I've dealt with their expectations all of my adult life. I know that there are just some customers who, for some reason, get a bad first impression and it taints their entire trip. It's unfortunate that they don't give the owner the chance to make things right before writing reviews like this woman did. In this day and age, it's easy to criticize anonymously, and the owner is left trying to pick up the pieces. I hope anyone reading this will get my number from Greg, because I'd be happy to talk to them personally. Tom Biegler

Not what we expected

Guest: NEMONTgal (Northeastern, MT)
Date of Stay: 06/14/10 Review Submitted: 10/26/10

Upon first look, this cabin is beautiful, but once inside and staying for a while, we were a bit disgusted with a few things. The fish pond/fountain was neat but it gave off a musty stench the entire time during our stay. The landlord told us to keep it running to get rid of the smell, but it didn't ever dissipate during our few day stay. When we unfolded the hide-away bed from the couch we were disgusted with the amount of dog hair that we found. The underneath of the cushions were covered in the hair and it got everywhere from that point on. One other thing that we were turned off by was the main bathroom. It is huge with nice decor and a huge shower, but as soon as the steam from the shower started up, there was a definite smoker-like smell that seemed as though was trying to be covered up. Maybe it was from the last guests, but it didn't go away the entire stay for us. Not uour cup of tea! Also, one of the two shower heads was broken and we had issues with it spraying all over if not hung up just so. Oh well. We had a great time at GNP and really enjoyed the firepit each evening. If we head over to GNP for a vacation in the future, we will DEFINITELY NOT stay at this VRBO property again.

Owner response:Well I spoke with Amy a few days ago. as I was really surprised by the review. I asked her why she didn't call so these details could be addressed. I would have had a professional upholstery cleaner in, if it would have remedied the situation for her, and the fish pond is a simple fix. Apparently the cleaning staff pulled the cushions off of the couch and cleaned it, but neglected to catch the underside of the cushions, it has been added to their checklist. The pond, unless run everyday for about an hour, will stagnate eventually, but is easily remedied with the turn of a valve and the water will be replaced in about an hour. I asked why she didn't call, and she said although I was very friendly on the phone, I seemed rushed and nervous when I met them and she didn't feel comforable calling me. I don't know what was going on that day, whether I was checking in two renters at a time and they both showed simultaneously, or if there was a problem at my bar/restaurant down the road, but I am a good host and have worked in the hospitality business for almost twenty years now.. As far as the shower head I am at a loss. I forgot to ask her what she meant, but it is just a Showerpick brand handheld in it's factory holder. The smell in the bathroom could have been from the previous renter, I have never had that brought to my attention before their stay or since. I am glad I spoke with Amy as I have traveled a lot and it is always unpleasant when the accomodations aren't up to par, she assured me they had a good time and said she would re-address these issues on this sight after our talk. I mean it when I say I am a good host and will go the extra mile to make your stay a pleasant one, but I have to know if there are any issues. Thanks for your time on the phone Amy. Respectfully, Greg

1st Class Accommodations...Absolutely Beautiful

Guest: Buck & Carolyn (Fenton, MI)
Date of Stay: 08/15/10 Review Submitted: 09/13/10

Pay no atttention to the one questionable review of this property (she must've been having a moment)??? We stayed here in Aug. 2010. We arrived late at night, and after a long day of driving, we pulled into the driveway, opened the door to this cabin and about fell over... it was so beautiful my wife started crying. We immediately double checked our rate info, as surely this place would rent for twice the price. When we awoke the next morning and stepped out the front door to the Rocky Mountains staring us in the face, she cried again. Although our focus was GNP, what a treat to come back to this place to wind down after a long day of hiking. The main bathroom was something to behold offering a double headed shower that will rock your world. We wanted to buy this place. Although the pictures on this site are nice and represent it well, you must see it in person to get the full effect...kinda like GNP. Bottom line is: extremely clean, very well maintained (inside and out), 1st class amenities (including fine china), cozy, high end mattress's, bedding/linens, a fish pond with waterfall (too cool), great neighbors, quiet, and 10 minutes to GNP. It was hard to say goodbye...my wife cried again!!! Highly recommended....

Neat, unique house - but NOT for families, and in a rough neighborhood

Guest: MTVisitor (Dresden, ME)
Date of Stay: 08/16/09 Review Submitted: 07/14/10

We stayed at this property for one night, and that's all it took. We were scheduled for 3 nights, but did not stay. While there are some neat features - close to Glacier, fish pond, spiral stairs - the house is not at all child friendly and the neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired. There are uneven spiral stairs leading to the second floor balcony with very wide spindles. Being pregnant, it was difficult to navigate the stairs to the bedrooms and our toddler could have fit right through the railing if we weren't watching every second. I wouldn't expect a rental to be toddler-proof, but it was downright unsafe. There were stray dogs running around the property at all hours of the day, and the neighborhood was very sketchy. Run down trailers surround the house, and loudly swearing neighbors are heard at all hours. We were woken up at 5:30 AM when the VERY loud alarm at the fire station just down the road went off incessantly. The grass was really long, so even if the dogs weren't outside, we wouldn't have used the yard. In addition, don't plan on using the garage as advertised because it was covered up with tarps and was filled to the brim with belongings. The owner was amiable and assured me he would reimburse me for the nights we did not stay...but it is nearly a year later and I have yet to be reimbursed even after several conversations.

Owner response:I don't really know what to say to this. In fourteen months of guests I have yet to have any other complaints. Everyone is very pleased with this rental. I'm not sure where this guest lives, but there are six mobile homes in a couple of block radius. All the neighbors are polite and quiet. Even though I have a thirty day cancellation policy I said I would refund her the last two days as soon as I started with next years bookings as her funds were put toward the mortgage when she checked in(managing this for a friend and said I would have to pay her out of my own pocket). She sent an e-mail giving me a set date in Nov. or else as she was moving. Would like to give her a refund if she would send me her new address. The neighbors do have two Pomeranians that are usually about 50 yards from the house, but seem pretty harmless. She mentioned one black lab that came into the yard, but stray dogs at all hours of the night I'm afraid is a gross exaggeration. It is a small town in Montana and most of these towns have volunteer fire departments which use sirens as a way to call the volunteers to accidents, fires and other emergencies. If she had gone into labor or had complications she would have been glad we have this service. I updated my site (at her suggestion) that I put child friendly does not mean child safe or child proof, it just means they are allowed. I keep the lawn nicely mowed unless it happens to rain the couple of days before a rental and then I coordinate a convenient time when my guests are away. I don't remember the circumstances, but I take pride in my presentation. The upstairs balcony isn't the place for a toddler, but the bedrooms are completely safe with the doors closed, as is the whole downstairs. A toddler gate at the bottom of the stairs would have sufficed. She complained about the beds being to tall and took one of the nice plush mattresses off the bed and put it in the hall. I'm sorry, but I would have to contribute all of this to being eight months pregnant in the heat and having a bad day. As far as the neighbors swearing loudly all night as I said before all of the neighbors are polite and quiet, but there is a bar a block away and I guess there may have been some problem over there that particular night. The garage is not part of the rental and I made sure it is not on the site that way. I hope you read this and call for a refund as I said I would give you one, even though i feel it is very undeserved. A bewildered landlord
