Tribeca apartment description
This is a spectacular place, designed by an Italian architect for his own family. It has been published in the New York Times and in several architectural magazines, and it has also been used as a stage for movies and TV commercials.
It is located in a quiet artists' building in the heart of Tribeca, close to all subway lines, and it is served by elevator.
The loft has an exceptional architectural quality revealed by refined space and light articulations. It employs a minimal/essential language, enriched by Japanese touches, oriental sculptures, and a surprising art collection. The most dramatic architectural element is the double-height central open space, functioning as an Italian "piazza". This space accommodates several areas specifically designed to support cooking, drinking, conversation, relaxation, listening to music, watching TV or movies, casual and formal dining. The three bedrooms are all at the mezzanine level, opening on the central "piazza". The atmosphere is pure magic, with the central space acting as a living theatre.
The loft is beautiful and comfortable, warm and cozy. Most of the furniture is on casters, a design arrangement that allows to change the space configuration and adapt the space to the needs of the users.

White Christmas in NYC
White Christmas in NYC
Six members of my family met in NYC and stayed in this apartment for two weeks over Christmas/New Year 2009/10. We arrived to snow storm chaos at JFK and took 6hrs to get from the airport to the apartment, eventually arriving at 3.30am. Roberto, the very good natured and charming landlord took us through the basics of the apartment then left us to sleep, returning the next afternoon for more detailed explanation. He had complied a list of local restaurants and service shops that was very helpful and, living next door, he added his own ideas for making the most of our first NY experience which we enjoyed. Right from my very first online enquiry Roberto was prompt and helpful. The apartment was exactly as listed, very spacious and funky. It is not '5 star' but it is clean, well maintained and generously equiped. It has a relaxed, homely feel but with an interesting artistic edge which made it the perfect place to unwind at the end of a days sightseeing. It was great to be able to walk to Wholefoods and other produce stores as well as many and varied restaurants. Nobu on Hudson our favourite. An easy walk to subway stations made exploring the rest of Manhatten very straightforward. We only took one taxi in the whole 2 weeks. At one stage the heating wasn't sufficient but that was quickly remedied by the property manager who also refunded our security deposit on time as promised. I would definitely recommend this property for an adult family or group. The loft bedrooms may restrict access for some but anyone who can climb a ladder would be fine. We gathered for drinks in the kitchen most nights and had a memorable Christmas dinner in the dining room of all the seafood carried home on the subway the night before. Very happy memories. Would love to do it all again!

About the owner: I am an Italian architect headquartered in New York City since 1970. I design residential and hotel projects, exhibitions and interiors. I have extensive experience in urban design, restoration, and sustainable development. I have founded and directed two non-profit organizations focused, respectively, on art & landscape, and urban & environmental advocacy planning. I am currently involved in the design and development of an eco-friendly tourist resort in the island of Vieques (PR), the restoration of a small 17th Century fortified settlement in Sicily (Italy) to be converted into an Artists' Village, the design of an Autistic Village in Ponce (PR), and the design of a new waterfront residential community in Cartagena (Colombia).
Why the Owner Chose Tribeca:
New York City is, for me, the most vibrant and energetic city in the world, a crossroad of cultures, creative minds, and powerful interests. Spending time in New York always provides a boost of energy and a learning experience.
