11/28/10-12/110/10 We absolutely loved the condo. Our grown daughters were with us the first week and the set up of the condo worked beautifully for us. It was such a great location, condition and price that we stayed the second week by ourselves even though we didn’t need the extra bedroom. It was great having a washer and dryer in the home. One of our favorite aspects of the condo was the wonderful rooftop patio. We watched many sunsets from there along with watching the surfers. We didn’t use the kitchen much but we did have some wonderful breakfasts on the dining patio. Went to Farmer’s Market on Friday and got lots of fruits and cinnamon rolls. We loved having the beach right across the way. Also the pool was clean and warm. We walked to town for shopping, tours and eating. Loved the surf lessons which we booked through DayStar. Marsucio and Roger were the best! Also enjoyed the ATV tour, whitewater rafting booked through AdventureToursCostaRica and the day trip to Manuel Antonio. One note of caution – I used insect repellant but still got bit. I was the only one this happened to and the rest of the group didn’t even use the repellant

Glad we booked directly through Steve, who was easy-going, pleasant, and reasonable about price. The location was perfect -- close enough to walk to everything but far enough away not to be in the middle of it all. The building and rooms were clean and gorgeous. The condo had everything we needed. We ate quite a few meals at "home" and really enjoyed dining on the balcony. Laundry room was a huge bonus. I was able to keep towels dry in the humid weather. And being able to pack clean clothes for the trip home was a treat. The pool was one of the best I've seen in our travels: huge, warm and very clean. We also really enjoyed the views from our rooftop terrace in the morning and evenings. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had Daystar drivers Roberto and Christian for trip from/to the airport, and they were wonderful. On the way in, Roberto even stopped at the river, so the boys could see their first Costa Rican crocodiles. He also went to the best supermarket, before town, and waited while we shopped for some essentials to stock the fridge. My boys loved Mirador mountain, our own neighborhood jungle! We took long hikes there a couple days and saw loads of all kinds of lizards and bugs and amazing views. And no crowds. They also loved playing in the surf at Jaco -- getting braver every day. We had great meals at many nearby restaurants. I'd recommend Bahia Azul to anyone staying in Jaco. While Jaco itself might not be the perfect location for a whole vacation, it's centrally located -- so we took daytrips to Manuel Antonio and Tortuga Island. As a single woman with two young kids, I had my concerns, but I think we had a very successful trip. My youngest has decided black beans and rice are his favorite food. And his brother is practicing vocabulary with the "My Spanish Coach" game on his dsi. :-)

Summer Vacay at Bahia Azul

The condo was gorgeous and the grounds very well maintained. You can walk to pretty much everything, and if you can't the cab is always less than $5 (travelers tip: they don't tip cab drivers in Jaco, it is not expected...we did anyway of course, but it's not customary). It being the rainy season it wasn't packed around the city, but plenty to do. While the main office staff was very helpful, I would suggest shopping around for tours. They only work with certain companies, and sometimes they aren't the cheapest or the best. All around, the condo was amazing, the rooftop terrace made every penny worth it.

Beautiful Condo

I just returned from my honeymoon in Jaco where we stayed at this lovely condo in Bahia Azul. The property is gorgeous and the condo is pristine. Exceptionally clean and elegant-it felt like a very expensive suite! The private rooftop deck is absolutely unbeatable and we spent a lot of time up there enjoying the ocean and moutain views. We never needed a car-we walked everywhere in Jaco-tons of great restaurants within a mile or so. The beach right in front has a great surf break popular with the locals. We took a cab for a day to Playa Hermosa-under $5-to check out the famous surf break and Backyard Hotel-worth the trip for the scenery and the drinks on the beach. The owner did a great job communicating with me and answering my questions.

Remedy for the Cold White North

Beautiful condo, very nicely laid out floor plan with the utility room right in the unit. One of the cleanest pools I've found while traveling. Unit had everything we needed including great shower. constant surf on the beach. Loved the sunrise and sunset from the rooftop deck. Went on Los Suenos zip line, crocodile tour, Poas Volcano and Cararra nature hike. Lots of fun. Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood plus, you can use the kitchen as needed to save money. Steve gives best rate around, much cheaper than renting from Bahia Azul directly. Great owner to deal with! Jaco is relatively quiet during the week, but full of Ticos on the weekend. During the weekend, Jaco is a little sketchy late at night but the condo has 24 hour security. Weather was hot.
