Canoe Cabin was the “Feature Home” at The 1997 Atlanta Spring Home Show. It was assembled, furnished, and decorated in the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Ga., then disassembled and rebuilt in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. The Canoe Cabin is a 3 level rustic cabin, nestled in the woods, with Ellijay, its closest town, 6.9 miles away. There you will find all the conveniences and supplies you may need, as well as a quaint and friendly downtown filled with antique shops, local artist’s works and locally owned restaurants, coffee shops and a wine tasting bar. It is also in the heart of Georgia’s “Apple Country”. Visit the numerous apple orchards and sample the variety of fresh apples, cider, fried pies and many more taste treats. Every October, Ellijay is home to the “Apple Festival” with acres of apple products, arts and crafts and live music. The cabin is a short distance from several rivers that offer, canoeing, kayaking, rafting and trout fishing. The Coosawattee River, the Ellijay River, the Cartecay River, Mountaintown Creek and beautiful Carters Lake nearby. You will also be within a few miles of the Chattahoochee National Forest, Amicalola Falls State Park, Fort Mountain State Park, and the famed Springer Mountain at the beginning of the Appalachian Trail. It is also in the heart of mountain biking country, with miles of trails of all difficulty levels to choose from. You will find hiking trails in the nearby parks, with beautiful mountain views, lush forests, waterfalls and numerous mountain creeks and ponds.

We just rented this cabin it's a lovely cabin but there are some things to be aware of. I think it would suit some people more than others. No curtains/blinds on living room windows, despite the remoteness of the cabin this was still a little uncomfortable to us. The ground level games rooms that has a kitchen/bathroom is completely seperate from the main and upper levels you have to go outside to get to it. The bath had no stopper which wasn't convienant with an infant. The sliding door out to the hot tub is very difficult to open and close. No outside lights beside the hot tub so didn't use it when our infant went to sleep. Didn't use the loft sleeping just to try to make less noise to watch a movie when our baby went to bed as there are no seperate rooms with doors to close. The bedding up there wasn't very fresh, smelt old and musty, the wood floor up there is very slippy could do with another rug to help prevent falls and the steps up while secure are a little high and steep, so climb with caution.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers.
